Reminds me of Home, wherever that is

My Shell is stiff, so I know it's colder in here than anything I've really experienced. At least what I had experienced before I became what I am now.

I go by Aux, and I deploy a standard Triage shell - who can blame me? NuCal barely has enough patch kits for one crew, let alone the 5 they typically deploy to the colony ship. Cheap bastards.

I took a new job here, this time from CyAc, something about focused research on the Vaults found in the Cryo section of the ship. They must really want focused, individualized data, as they specifically were paying for a one man crew this time. I got lost, like I usually do - you would think that if we can FTL transfer matter, we could maybe get a 3D map of the ship they want us dying over.

My shells' internals are lining with frost, and it's becoming difficult to move at all. I'm not really sure if anyone will find this log, as it's stored in my onboard cerebral memory cache, but if you do -

I hope this, too, reminds you of home.

Maybe I should just read collected editions - this is getting ridiculous

Idk how this even happens, is acceptable, and why no one is talking about it.

Can you imagine the finale to a miniseries just delaying the final episode for like 9 months?

Does anyone have insights into why this book just won't be released?

Shoutout to Marathon for having none of this BS

low cost, low storage usage, none of the annoyances of modern games. It's not talked about enough.

Rocket Drone Karma

My friend and I (Recon and Destroyer) wanted to work on some Perimeter quests and loaded in to find, unsurprisingly, a completely silent third teammate who immediately ran off without any communication (Thief).

We were about 100 meters behind Thief when they dropped a "Danger" ping. I jumped on voice chat and said that we weren't with them yet and asked them to hold off if possible. We ended up in a three-team fight, put one team down, and watched the other team run off, so we decided to do the Commander event for loot.

After we finished the event and started looting, we realized that Thief was vacuuming up everything indiscriminately, including all the healing items. Recon and I had no shields and were out of charges, so I jumped on the mic and asked if they could drop a depleted charge for us or something. This was met with complete silence.

Thief then pinged an exfil, and I certainly agreed, considering our healing situation. As we were running, a supply drone flew overhead, and Thief took it down right in front of the group and started looting it. I ran over and opened the crate, watched for a second to see if anyone grabbed anything, and then took a frag grenade, a heat grenade, and three gunmetal. I exited the loot screen to start running again when Thief started blasting at me with their AR.

I stopped and turned toward them and heard them frantically shuffling to get their mic working. Once they did, they came through screaming, "STOP TAKING MY FUCKING SHIT!"

I replied, "Well, maybe if you would fucking communicate, Mr. Silent Thief. What do you need? I literally grabbed a couple of grenades and some gunmetal."

They responded by not responding at all and simply running off to a nearby POI, where they began fighting bots. I told Recon that we should just make our way to exfil since we still didn't have shields, and who knows what Thief was doing or why they were so angry.

We made our way to exfil, activated it, and then heard the Rocket Drone overhead. We ran to cover to wait for the exfil to activate. I noticed that Thief was making their way toward us, so when the exfil opened up, I started heading toward it while explaining to my friend not to be afraid of the drone. He might go down, but we could still exfil.

The timer started ticking: 10, 9, 8...

We were in the exfil, and Thief jumped in as the Rocket Drone unloaded a volley at us. We all went down. 3, 2, 1...

Another volley hit and knocked Thief out of the exfil right as it closed. They jumped on their mic and left us with this wonderful final statement:

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FUCKING FAULT!"

I'm starting to think maybe Bungie built karma into the game design. I've never been less sad to not make it out with a curmudgeonly teammate.

Lost/Backrooms headcanon

I like to think that both Dharma and Async are part of a larger corporation conglomerate researching electromagnetic anomalies across the world.

We just never saw the Dharma station Beck personally used for a lil time away in the sun.

What does a bacteria entity look like if it escapes the backrooms? The smoke monster may give insight and thank goodness it never left the island.

(Obviously this is just for fun and not to be taken seriously. Kane taps into the retro scifi mystery that I love)

Even if you escape, an endless sea of empty suburban homes waits to bring you right back down

You should remain inside.
