Girl mom

Lol being a girl mom is not being able to curl your own hair but teaching your eldest daughter how to curl her hair properly because you've seen a ton of different videos randomly pop up on your feed.

Phantom kicks

I HATE phantom kicks. I'm sitting here staring at my 2 month old and my body is spasming and it feels like kicks. Bodies are weird.

Being a mom without your mom

Ugh this is heavy. My mom passed away almost 10 years ago, she only met 2 of my 4 kids, and my youngest at the time was only 9 months old. Today would have been my mom's birthday, I wasn't really letting myself process everything, and then my husband gave me permission to (not that he ever told me no or anything like that) but that opened a door and I told him that I can't because then I'd be a mess and I can't do that around our kids. He told me to allow myself to feel things and I need to give myself permission to grieve how I need to. Man that hit. 10 years of having to find my footing as a mom without being able to ask her for help, or being able to share my kid's accomplishments, passions, and milestones with her is so not how I saw my life going. I think the hardest part is knowing the hole that she left in my children's lives that they'll never really know is there, knowing that they'll only know her love for them second, my heart breaks more for them than for me.

Idk I'm sorry for how heavy this is, I just needed somewhere to vent.

Big families

Hi friends, I am a mother of 4, contemplating on having a 5th in a few years. Parents of big families what prayers did you pray to discern if you were ready or called to have another baby when you had what you thought was going to be your last?

Grandma Tala

Was Grandma Tala labeled the village crazy lady because she tried to tell everyone about what she saw the ocean do with Moana?

I understand the logic but I wish we could.

I so wish we could have the Eucharist in a monstrance in our homes. I understand the logic behind not allowing it, but to have Jesus fully present in one's house and be able to be in adoration 24/7 would be amazing. Again I understand why it can't be like that and I respect it.

Miracles

Why is it more common to hear about miracles from Protestants than it is to hear about them from Catholics? I'm not talking about the fake ones that are put on fir show I'm talking the real legitimate miracles, such as doctors finding a growth or something somewhere and the person being healed of it, or God telling random people to gift another person the exact money they needed for rent or a medical bill or something major like that. I hardly ever hear stories like that from Catholics.

Secretly stressing

My husband is on baby leave right now, today I went shopping with my toddler, my nb, and my 11 yo, I am so worried about how I'm going to manage shopping when my husband is back at work and my older 2 kids are in school. My toddler loves to run off, I feel like when my older two were this age my oldest was pretty well behaved and listened decently. My 2 yo is absolutely wild and does things just to spite me. When my husband goes back to work I'll still have him around for a month and can plan shopping when he's home but then the month after he will be going out of the country for a bit and Idk how I'm going to manage especially being a few thousand miles away from any family, and having zero friends here. Send help 🫠

Go see a couples counselor

I don't care how good your relationship is, go see a couples counselor. It will not only help the good get better, but it can help you figure out what your relationship will look like after the baby comes. It's such a massive dynamic shift that having some help to navigate it can be extremely beneficial. This is our 4th baby and the only time we've tried it this way and I will tell you it has been helping a ton. So yeah go find someone to help you through this change. 🫶

Lion king 1 and 2 release years.

Why did I think that Lion King 2 came out in like 2005? I seriously thought there was a much bigger gap between the two movies. I remember 1.5 coming out as a we are working on a sequel but not ready yet and it seemed like a year later lion king 2 came out.

Toddlers

Why is putting a toddler to bed like the fight of the century? I swear I'm losing my dang mind, and then when my husband tries to help he often times loses his temper and makes it way more difficult than what it already is....

Connection

I never felt a connection to my baby while I was pregnant, I'd even go so far to say I didn't necessarily love her either, at least not in the way I love my other kids. Thats not to say I didn't/don't care about her and want the best for her.

I want moms in my situation to know that the love and connection absolutely grows, or at least it can. She is less than a month old and I am beginning to feel the same love and connection for her that I have with my other kids. Keep in mind this is a brand new person you are getting to know and develop a relationship with. All the love and feelings aren't always instant and thats ok.

Baby names

Soon to be parents, remember, YOU are the only ones who need to like your baby's name especially if its a perfectly reasonable name. I named my baby something along the lines of Lucas, and a older family member who I'm close to didn't like the name and has been vocal about it. I've basically told her that sucks the only thing thats important is that we like it, and when she tried to say she would call baby a different name I said no Lucas is the name we picked thats what people will use when referring to baby.

Stand up for yourself and your choice on names!

Just had my 4th baby maybe some info to help FTM

So this is more of PP things to be aware of. I highly recommend stocking your house on quick things to make that you can just pop in the microwave as well as being well stocked on things to help you hydrate, and a good amount of snacks. The hormone drop is crazy, I feel way more emotional now than I did during pregnancy. I also feel super heavy and like everything is being pulled down. YOU MAY STILL GET ROUND LIGAMENT PAIN, its been kinda intense this time around. Getting up for the first few times post birth is going to be scary, but its important that you walk around too. When you go in ask when the meal order times are, even if you are in active labor have your support person call and place your order! I didn't and missed the dinner order time. Trust your body! If something doesn't feel right let the medical staff know.

Edit to add: if they are trying to place an IV and your veins aren't cooperating, you can request the next size down, they couldn't get an 18 placed but the 20 was relatively easy.
