My top choice for accommodation right now - seems perfect but I’m concerned about the safety. I’m a single woman who is international. Im worried not just about the accommodation itself and how safe it is, but also the commute to Clifton Campus. While it seems okay during the day I’m scared of what will happen during the night. I plan to get a bus pass.
Also, if anyone knows - Avon Point, and how that fares safety wise.
hey guys!! im applying for accommodation soon, and want to know what the pros and cons are of each one. price isn't an issue; want to prioritize something that is safe, but also want a newer accomm which is en suite. so far, i really like metal works and avon point; but will i lose out being too far away?? it's my first time in bristol so everything will be foreign to me, worried that i'll be very lost. i would like to be somewhat close to the uni but its not the most important thing, i guess. my parents would like something with just students around (though that's not compulsory).
my other options are orchard heights and brunel. both seem very nice, however, they lack some facilities the other two do have. i guess i wouldn't mind not having a gym, it's not the end of the world, but it would be nice.
what do you guys think is safest for an international woman? what about the accoms above? i love a modern/new one so are they good? are there others i should consider? lmk :)
hey guys, got rejected durham law, accepted bristol law. but durham was my dream. is it worth phoning durham asking them or begging them for a place?? my ib results r 37 points with 774 HL, conditions were 37 with 666 HL. i had to wait until a levels for them to decide. im international. is it possible to change their minds. im so sad.
like they have it in the system and send it out at 8?? whether unis accept u or not. or will it take time since. i’ve been waiting since last month and they told me to wait until a level results come so curious whether ill have to wait more or 8 am really is the final time.
I take IB so I’ve been waiting for over a month. Thankfully my insurance let me in. But my firm Durham said they are waiting for A-level results on 13 August and will make a decision then.
I got 37 with 774 HL, reqs for law is 37 with 666 HL. I had extenuating circumstances. My school told me I’ll certainly get in as my HLs add up to 18 but I’m real scared. Praying I get in I alrdy made friends and stuff. I’m international. I need to sort out CAS and my visa so it really sucks I’ve had to wait this long. I am hopeful since they haven’t rejected me (they said my results are strong but as I haven’t met offer conditions they have to wait till August 13).
He’s at least a year old, normally healthy bright and active, but over the last few days he has been very still and not as bright as before. His fins are noticeably duller. He has lost some red coloring and the bottom of his body is now white. He was an adult when I got him, and since I got him I believe he has been going blind in his left eye, however was still cheerful and living alright. Now he’s very slow and does not come up for food. Is this old age or does he have a disease? I don’t believe there are massive changes to the tank. Some moss has been growing in my tank but it’s always been fine. Do you think this is normal old age or maybe cross contamination or disease??? 3rd image is how he looks normally, back in April.

So I came across this user on Tiktok, “ihatedtheending”. This creator, who goes by the name Levi, claims to have been horrifically abused as a part of a child trafficking ring. Like, Peter Scully levels of horrific. I just came across a video of them saying they were forced to kill another child (while they were a child). And the abusers filmed this. But in their latest video, they say the perpetrators are walking freely?? Considering the nature of the crime and that they claim it was filmed and distributed (and claims of murder), I find it so unlikely to be the case?? We’re talking about children going missing, CSAM, and torture. Surely there is SOME evidence left behind. And it’s so rare for a child to just go unaccounted for in America. I watched a video about them finding evidence of Scully’s crimes, so in such a similar case, I find it so unlikely that all evidence was scraped…?
Worth mentioning that they also say they have DID. some comments have been speculating that they’re lying and making up stuff. This appears to be based in America (or maybe canada idk) so those laws apply. Do you guys think people can not be arrested and walk freely even when a former victim comes forward and tells the police? What do they even do with such allegations? Immediately arrest them? They claim they were being groomed to take over this ring and they killed multiple kids, so considering this, I find it unlikely that they just stopped one day and got rid of all the evidence. And apparently they were returned to the family several times after being taken away. How can they hide CSAM and torture and murder like that.

So... I'm in this place and 2 people here admitted that they're on visit visas, which they cannot work with. How do I report this? In Dubai. As they are hiring illegal workers. I don't want to file an official legal complaint, just tip off the authorities, like you can in the UK. The reason is that I have the belief that the workers are being exploited due to everything they've said and are not in a position to work. Note that I personally have no concrete proof but their visas should be easy enough for authorities to check (and they have given identification to employers, they told me). Also WTF do I do, I came here to work (but I'm legal to work) but now I don't want to after discovering this I'm scared.

Hey guys, I'm not competitive or a serious gamer, but I just want a laptop to play games on eg sims 4, minecraft, and some games I want to try out like Red dead redemption, last of us etc. Don't wanna spend a lot of money, but at the same time wanna get my moneys worth. I know basically NOTHIng when it comes to computers. I just used my old computer to play games but that broke. That's HP and has 512 GB storage, it's quite old but it worked well enough for me (though admittedly it wasnt very smooth when i played hogwarts legacy/sims 4, but personally i didnt really mind). Is under 2500 AED a realistic budget? What are some computers good for this? Or, if more expensive, what computers are absolutely worth it? I have another laptop for work and studying & don't see myself playing super often after September due to those commitments. Also, do you guys know any good discounts etc? Thinking of buying now since there might be eid sale.
There is a purple line on my macbook from top to bottom. It is a Macbook Air, Chip: Apple M2. MacOS version 15.6.1. It will be 2 years old in August. What is this purple line? And what should I do? I just noticed it today. It seems to be a hardware issue, as a screenshot doesn’t display the line.

I didn't expect to get so low in writing. I'm an English speaker and didn't practice at all. Unfortunately I didn't get CEFR C2 because of my writing at C1. Doesn't really matter though. For more context I read a lot and have grade 7 in Higher Level English in IB. Should I retake writing? I don't think I need it per my research (degree level in UK/Netherlands)
