Talisker Beach, Isle of Skye

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

Threatening Skies over Inverness

Headed east for an appointment at the Raigmore, snapped this on the way.

Misty Skye's

Retrieved my FiL's Yashica TLR from their attic recently and ran a roll of HP5 and Kodak Gold 200 through to test it. Looks like both the focus and shutter speeds are way off which is only to be expected since it's probably been in storage for 50 years!

Anyhow, decided to see if I could make some lemonade anyway. Processed in Lightroom, borders in Gimp.

How it started...How it Went...How it Ended 🤨

Whelp!

Many, many thanks to the kind staff at Broadford Hospital and Raigmore in Inverness.

Be careful out there folks.

Folding Treadmills - The Conversation Restarts!

Seems like I'm probably looking for a unicorn here?

  • UK hill & trail runner needing something for rehab/bad weather/slow pace/HIT
  • Must fold flat as will be in a garage where we pull cars & motorcycles in, needs to store against a wall
  • I'm 68KG so doesn't have to be a Clydesdale
  • 18-20KPH top speed
  • Incline
  • No Apps or Subscriptions!

The JTX RunRise XL seems perfect but they do not sell to my post code (Scottish Islands) as it's outside their service area. Everything else so far looks like Amazon crap. Any suggestions?

TIA

Loch Greshornish, Isle of Skye

Lucky enough to call this home, early start, coffee included. Followed by a quick dip.

More Scotland (Part 2) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Couple more of today's trails, the original post wouldn't let me add them for some reason.

More Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A favorite road > trail > some incredible beaches close to my house on the Isle of Skye.

Today included a lost seal pup (hard to spot amongst the seaweed), and worried that I'd scared mum off I pulled back, stood still and waited. Thankfully she re-appeared and the pup swum out for a reunion.

I managed to get a swim in myself too, away from the seals of course.

Glamaig Hill Race - Sat July 11

Sounds simple enough, 7K distance up & down Glamaig (2,500') on the Isle of Skye. I didn't race but volunteered to be one of the 2 marshals at the top cairn turnaround.

Getting up (and down) was brutal enough even with a 90 minute start on the competitors. Loose scree, bogs & marsh, near vertical wet grass. Winning male did the entire thing in 48:24, female in 1:01:22. It's an incredible thing to witness.

The top was shrouded in mist but once you got below that the views are pretty amazing too, glimpses of Eigg and Rum.

Rubha-Hunish, Isle of Skye

Typical Skye, wet, boggy, challenging and spectacular all wrapped up together.

Custom Console at Low Tide

43" Frame with a disappearing act on a dreich afternoon (no heatwave here). Cat is colour coordinated of course.

Console designed & built by Reed LaPlant Studios.

Oh Samsung - Really?

Replacement 43" Frame showed up today with a small hole in the box. No biggie right? Except that Samsung pack the TV with the screen right up against the cardboard even though there's probably 4" of styrofoam padding if they packed it facing the other way.

Thankfully via Amazon so back it goes.

Heatwave? What Heatwave?

North end of Skye; had a very pleasant 12K this morning, 14 degrees and a light drizzle to keep things cool.

Sorry, couldn't resist 🫣
