Rollei 35 vs 35s

I recently got a Rollei 35 (got it on Ebay for 100EUR) and just shot my first roll with it. Waiting for it to come back. I really liked the experience and might want to either 1. get it CLAed, 2. get a better/newer/mint copy, or 3. upgrade to 35S. What would you recommend?

Is the Rollei 35S actually worth the premium if we zone focus anyway?

From what I've read the Tessar is razor sharp from f/5.6, and the Sonnar's advantage is mostly wide open, which is exactly where I can't guess distance well enough to use it.

Is there anything you notice at f/8 and beyond between? I know the Sonnar is multicoated and the Tessar isn't, so I'd expect better flare resistance shooting into the light. Corner falloff too. Is that enough to justify a few hundred euros more, or is it a stop I'd be paying for and never using?

Curious to hear from people who switched and either kept it or went back.

Gyms with Day passes?

A friend of mine is coming to visit for 2 weeks, and we are keen on going to the gym together during their stay. Could you please suggest any gyms in Munich that offer day passes or flexible packages for approximately 10 visits?

Is a Braun Super Paxette II good? (untested, unknown service history)

Haven't heard of it. Found a Braun Super Paxette II in Germany for 20 EUR, includes the leather case. Seller says it worked the last time she used it (maybe ~10 years ago), hasn't been tested since, and she doesn't know if it's ever been serviced/CLA'd by a previous owner.

From what I've read it's a 35mm rangefinder from the mid/late 1950s, interchangeable 39mm screw-mount lenses (not Leica-compatible due to flange distance), Prontor leaf shutter. Build quality seems well-regarded for the era.

At 20 EUR I'm not too worried about losing the money, but before I go pick it up, is this a camera worth bothering with as a shooter, or is it more of a shelf piece? Anything specific I should check in person (sticky shutter speeds, light seals, shutter capping, rangefinder alignment) before handing over the cash? Thanks!

Rollei 35 S or plain Rollei 35?

Two options came up locally, both black, both Singapore built, both from private sellers I can meet in person.

Option 1, Rollei 35 S, 240 euro. Sonnar 2.8/40 HFT. Seller has shot 3 to 4 rolls through it, says the meter works. No dents, looks clean in photos. Comes with a UV filter and strap. Asking was 350, got it down to 240.

Option 2, plain Rollei 35, 100 euro. Tessar 3.5/40. Seller says all speeds run correctly including the slow ones and the meter reads. Small paint chips on the top corners. Comes with the original case and strap. He also told me unprompted that these meters were never that accurate and not to use slide film, which I appreciated. I also kind of like the idea of the plain 35 being the original model. But I do not want to talk myself into the cheaper one just because it is cheaper.

Neither has ever been CLA'd.

Which would you go for? Is the Sonnar worth 140 more?

Online therapist recommendations? (31M in Germany, pref Telugu/Hindi speaking)

Hi all, first time posting.

I'm 31M, living in Germany for a few years now. Nothing dramatic has happened, it's just a constant low grade stress about life that isn't going away, and I've put off doing something about it for too long.

Therapy here has long waiting lists, and honestly the bigger problem is explaining things to someone with zero context of how Indian families work. I spend half the session giving background. So I'm thinking online therapy with someone based in India.

What I'm looking for:

  • Telugu speaking ideally, but Hindi/English is fine if they get the South Indian family setup
  • Late afternoon IST slots, since IST evenings are too late for me on CET weekdays
  • Licensed therapist

If you've done therapy from abroad, did it actually hold up long term? And are the platforms worth it or better to go with an independent practitioner directly?

Any recommendations appreciated, DMs fine too. Thanks!

31M seeking advice on how to tell traditional parents about marrying outside our caste

31M, Indian, based in Europe. Known my girlfriend (also 31, also Indian, based in different European city) for about 1.5 years now (met on Bumble) and we're at the point of wanting to get married. The complication: I'm Brahmin, she's OBC. Both our families are from South India, though we're each living in different European cities right now for work, so a lot of this will happen over calls before any in-person conversation.

My parents are fairly traditional, not extremist, but caste is still clearly a live thing for them, not just a formality. I'm trying to figure out how to actually have this conversation in a way that gives us the best shot, rather than just blurting it out and hoping for the best.

If you've been through something similar: how did you open the conversation? Did you lead with who she is as a person, or just state the decision upfront? Did having a relative or elder as a bridge help? And realistically, how long did it take before the initial reaction (whatever it was) settled into something workable?

Genuinely just want to do right by everyone here, her, my parents, and the relationship. Appreciate any honest experiences, good or bad.

My partner and I are visiting Munich in the last week of August, and want to have a birthday dinner there. Do you recommend any vegan restaurants for this?

Looking for something a bit special, a good vibe for a celebration.

How is the hardware of SM in 2026?

I don't know much about PC hardware and mostly just enjoy gaming on my 2022 PC connected to my TV with XBox controller, and on the Steam Deck. From what I've seen, the hardware in the SM seems to be based on technology from around 2022 too. Given that, I'm wondering whether it still makes sense to pick one up when it launches, or if it might already feel a bit dated compared to what's available by then.

kolodko mini statues - Part 1

Hidden in the city of Budapest are over 30 tiny bronze statues, each just a few centimeters tall. They were created by Hungarian-Ukrainian sculptor Mihály Kolodko as a personal art project, placed quietly around the city with no announcement. Some reference Hungarian history, some poke fun at politics, and some are just pure playful whimsy. I spent a day hunting 28 of them with my Fujifilm X-T50. Part 1 of 2.

Anyone notice changes at TUM after tuition fees?

I graduated from TUM Informatik a little over 7 years ago.

I’ve been wondering, since the introduction of tuition fees at TUM, have current students actually noticed any changes in the university experience? Better support, lesser students per class, infrastructure, student life, international diversity,... or does it feel mostly the same?
