Has anyone conceived while working overnights/crazy sleep sched?

I work a crazy overnight shift AND take care of my toddler son. So I get about 3-4 hours of sleep each night, and maybe a 1-2 hour nap every afternoon.

I know it’s not great for me. But it’s what we have to do right now.

I have asked my RE and OB if they believe this is causing my secondary infertility. They’ve both told me no.

I conceived my first child easily at 35. Back then I was working a much more regular schedule and had much more time to take care of myself.

I’m 39 now, and have been trying for 1.5 years. One miscarriage, one failed round of IVF (no usable eggs).

Trust me I’d love to quit my job and sleep more, but that’s not in the cards for us right now.

But I have to think - there must be other women out there in similar situations who have successfully conceived?

If so, I would love to hear your story.

Any success stories getting pregnant unassisted at 39?

Hi, dealing with secondary infertility.

Have a lovely 3 year old, have been trying for #2 for about 1.5 years.

I just completed my first round of IVF which failed.

We will try IVF 1-2 more rounds but don’t have money to go beyond that. The doctor says I might have success, I might not.

Any stories of people getting pregnant unassisted after turning 39? Thanks. Just looking for some hope.

Feeling guilty about taking a cycle off?

Just had my first egg retrieval and it totally failed - no usable eggs.

We’ve maxed out my insurance and are trying to get onto my husband’s, which will give us significant help with costs.

I have low AMH at .26. I don’t really want to skip a cycle. But I also am tempted to take this month and figure out the best financial situation possible before going forward with another retrieval. I am meeting with my clinic’s financial advisor on Monday to help me sort out our options.

If we do skip this cycle, we will try naturally of course, but I know the possibility is so, so slim.

Has anyone regretted skipping a cycle?

Doctor says I can be successful. Why don’t I believe him?

I’ve posted a lot in here over the weekend because I am spiraling post-egg retrieval (our first.)

We got two eggs. Initially doctor said they were both immature. But he just called and explained they were not immature, they were just bad eggs.

He then explained how he wants to tweak the protocol a bit (priming with BC, earlier trigger). He said he knows with DOR we will not get a ton of eggs. But that it’s quality over quantity.

He ended by saying “I still think you can be successful.”

At age 39 and dealing with secondary infertility, I am having a hard time believing him.

Has anyone tried medicated cycle with injectables (not just letrozole or clomid?)

Our first egg retrieval yielded zero usable eggs. I’m not ready to jump back into another IVF cycle simply because of financial reasons.

But I’m wondering if perhaps there is an opportunity to do a stronger medicated cycle with TI?

I’m talking to my doctor tomorrow but wanted to also check here.

Failed IVF cycle and wanting to try naturally again

I am 39 with secondary infertility.

One failed IUI. This morning our our egg retrieval yielded 2 eggs, both of which were immature. Doctor said it was "unlucky."

I am willing to do another IVF cycle, despite the financial/emotional cost. But I am also wondering if I can be hopeful about trying naturally.

Can anyone relate?

2 eggs retrieved this morning. Doc just called to say both are immature

39, secondary infertility.

Tried IUI and moved on after one failed cycle. Did IVF with high hopes.

2 eggs retrieved and doc just called to say both are immature.

I can’t afford to do this again and I am just feeling so low. I want another baby so badly.

Disappointing retrieval. Looking for hope and commiseration.

All that time, money and energy and we got TWO eggs

Went into retrieval with six follicles and felt GREAT about that, considering my low egg count.

I knew it would be bad news when they sent the doctor back to talk to me.

Doc said one of my follicles was empty which was just really bad luck. And another was a cyst.

So two eggs. I know there’s still hope but ugh. I’m so sad.

First (and likely only) IUI failed.

Just venting! Secondary infertility. I am 39. Had my first at 36 with no issue.

We’ve been trying for 1.5 years and wanted to at least try one IUI. I had the procedure last Friday.

I got my period today and the nurse seemed surprised. She said “are you sure? That’s early!”

I think we will move on to IVF now, given my age.

Was supposed to trigger today, but…

Follicles don’t look “ready” yet. Of course it’s a holiday weekend.

Doc says to come back on Tuesday for another ultrasound. But to have sex on Monday “just in case.”

The whole point of doing the IUI is that we haven’t been able to get pregnant by having sex. So I find that advice frustrating.

This is my first one and I am new to all of this so maybe I shouldn’t be so upset. It’s just all so stressful.

Sitting here waiting for my HSG and have to laugh

That they make you take a pregnancy test beforehand.

Like, how I wish it would come back positive and I could just go home!!

I hate all of it. lol. Almost feels a little cruel.

Trying IUI before IVF.

Hi, 39 year old struggling with secondary infertility.

Been at it more than a year. Had a chemical pregnancy last June but no luck since.

Finally called the fertility clinic. I have low AMH but everything else looks okay.

Many posts on here say not to waste time on IUI at my age, which I do understand. I realize IVF may very well be our path. But I figured while I am starting the process of preparing, I might as well try a round with IUI.

Any older ladies with thoughts, experience, advice?

Thanks!
