Couldn’t get an interview for a year. Started my own business and people are throwing money at me.

I’m still beside myself over this.

18 months on the sidelines, applied for over 500 jobs. Interviewed as perfect candidate a handful of times, did the 3 month and 5 interview fiasco, and then total silence for the last 6 months.

So I started my own business. Simple website. And the leads are rolling in and in 2 weeks I’ve already got 2 clients paying me $100/hr for active work and a bunch more.

What I’m trying to say is- fuck these recruiters and their shitty ai and filtering systems. This shit is irreparably broken at this point if a random person can start a business and make a bunch of money easier than getting a call-back for a job I’m qualified for and willing to take a pay cut on.

I’m also happy to ask any questions. Happy Thursday!

JB pre-emptively cancelling Wednesday evening flights from SE to NE.

Should they shut down their flight services and offer fortune teller services to tell the future? 48 hours before wheels-up and they are already telling people to get fucked. Thoughts?

Wiring in new W200 thermostat but won’t energize

Done this a thousand times with Nest, first time with this brand. Put all wires in as original and directed but head unit doesn’t turn on. Any ideas?

Unit seems to seat correctly, tried pressure g button on top of unit but no luck.

Edit: SOLVED. Was able to find the tech did indeed not hook up the blue wire correctly. Head unit no energized. The bunches of other wires were for a wet sensor.

Shut down hot line for heat wave?

For background I own a small brewpub- 1 person kitchen operation during service with oven/stove/fryer/salamander for burger/tot/wing/pretzel/pierogi etc prep.

It’s going to be 100*+ in my area the end of this week and I’m planning on shutting down my kitchen for hot food prep because we just aren’t engineered (very old building with MU air from the roof) and it’ll be next to impossible in that kitchen. The amount of MU and exhaust will also suck a ton of my AC out and murder the dining room. Plus I don’t think people are going to want to eat a bunch of hot and heavy stuff.

So I guess my question is: Am I overreacting?

And, if I’m not: Since I can only think of cold sandwiches and chicken salad what else is there that I could offer to guests that avoid my hood issue?

Was tired and didn’t know what else to make for dinner so here’s my non-denominational 90-minute pie

Granted I leave my 2 cast-iron pizza steel arrangement in the oven always ready to go, and 500* convection is turning out to be pretty beast

Friday Night Pizza Nite: Chicago tavern-style with basil, arugula, prosciutto, and balsamic glaze

New (to me) house with 500* convection oven works magic on my upper+lower pizza steel setup (7 minutes flat).
