AITAH for flipping out on my mom for unwanted financial “advice” over text?

So basically I’m currently applying to apartments with a couple of my friends and planning on moving out as soon as possible. My mom texts me today giving unsolicited advice telling my friend and I to buy a house, create an LLC, just stuff that would make absolutely no sense at this point in our lives (we’re 24). It comes from a good place deep down but she’s obsessed with this idea of me buying a house because thats the “normal thing to do” even though not one person my age that I know has the means whatsoever to do that. It would be fine but she has sent texts like this probably about 10 times over the past year.

Everytime I have expressed frustration and it only makes me more frustrated everytime it happens. Yet she continues to do it. She has some sort of weird stigma about renting I guess? My friend just laughs it off (he thinks its ridiculous too) but it is beyond frustrating for me. I’ve told her multiple times that I do not want uncolicited advice and that I am nowhere near a time in my life to look for a house. Its just not reasonable. I basically just responded with a couple paragraphs, obviously very mad and kind of just outlined what I said here. When I expressed my frustration today, she told me to “not think like a poor person” which is a whole other issue but just kind of shows her blatant classism which kind of ties into this. She then responds with telling me I need to start paying 1k a month to live here at the house just because she was mad at my response. And then when I say that I’m an adult and want to make my own decisions, I’m met with “alright well you can start paying your car insurance”. Both of those things are 100% fair as I am an adult and have no expectations for my parents to carry me but that help I’m getting from them is 100% more helpful during the process of moving out than outlandish ideas to buy a house with my friend. Neither of us want to sink our savings and have such a big liability this early. It isn’t even on the table and I feel foolish for even getting worked up and responding to it.

I think the part that really makes me get mad about it is how many times she’s suggested or come up with some idea of buying a house for us and I’ve repeatedly expressed how much it annoys me. She does similiar things with the job hunt, constantly sending me unhelpful things on LinkedIn, telling me what I “need” to be doing. I ended up getting a job a few weeks ago (on my own, without her help) but before then I was definitely” looked down” on from my family for just having a restaurant job and not a “real job”. So this behaviour has manifested in other areas too, not just moving out.

AITA for snapping over text from her (probably 10th) unwanted suggestion about buying a house? I’m not looking for reassurance or anything but I really do kind of feel like an asshole after getting worked up and angry with her about this.

Edit: I should add that a lot of these “suggestions” involve me taking out loans or borrowing money from her that I don’t have

Looking for a Joey clip “His dad could have been a marine”

Its a classic Joey clip that happened on Rogan and I cant find anything on youtube. I forget the circumstance or reason but Joey was saying that a guy might not come out back in the day and used a dad being a marine as an example

Huntington next week

I know questions like this get asked all of the time but I wanted to specifically tailor it to my experience and get some feedback. I’m thinking of doing Huntington next week but am still a bit anxious, especially hearing some people say its fine and others saying its terrifying.

For 4kers I’ve done Lincoln, Lafayette, Monroe, Jackson, and Pierce, as well as smaller mountains like Chocorua a few times. My first big hike on the Whites was Washington via Tuckerman a couple years ago but I’m not counting it because we took the auto road down. I always come prepared with layers and the ten essentials when I do a hike like this and will not do this trail if we’re expecting rain. I’m mostly just sketched out at the exposure aspect of it. I’ve never had issues with rock scrambles or anything like that. Wednesday would be the day next week and its supposed to be sunny (as of now).

“On Call” Shifts

I’ve worked as a server at my restaurant for about 6 years now and never thought much about this until recently. We have “on call” where you might be scheduled “on call” for one shift or for the whole day. It basically means if you’re needed you get called to come in and you’re supposed to treat it like a real shift. Pretty much a safety net for if someone calls out/it gets super busy. The issue is a lot/most of the time you aren’t called in so you don’t end up making plans but then the times you do make plans you of course get called in. Its not something I’m super up in arms about but was wondering if anyone elses place of work does this?

Lets talk about “This F’n guy”

I’ve listened to a bunch of this podcast because I like learning things I didn’t know about these people they cover but something has to be said about some of their jokes. Being scripted (which is a turn off) aside, I’ve heard fat jokes, jokes about peoples appearance, and even a joke about someone being in special ed. I didn’t think it was worth making a post about this but then just heard one of the hosts refer to Clarence Thomas as a “token for hire” in his early life. Seriously? I get it, the podcast is supposed to be humorous but I don’t know what making fat jokes would do besides upset someone listening to it. I think making a comment about someones physical appearance that they can’t change is just really immature, especially when theres actual content to be discussed regarding some of these arguably horrible people they cover. It’s possible to be funny without all that and I definitely have laughed at other jokes they make. Anyone else feel the same way about this podcast?

Great night in Gilford

I had some pretty negative things to say about the crowd in Boston the other night but just wanted to combat that with a positive post. Besides the jamoke in the orange shirt yelling “Thats not Bob Dylan!” (Which is so dumb its funny anyway) the crowd at least around me was well behaved. The enforcement on the phone thing was pretty light but I think its because the crowd didn’t create too many problems in that sense. When I paint my pasterpiece was once again a highlight. Left a lot happier than I did in Boston and would be satisfied if this is the last time I see him (hopefully not though)

Bank NH Camping Parking question

I’ve been here a bunch but have never camped. We have tickets for a show tonight and paid for the camping parking to camp but seeing its going to rain, we’ll probably just head home after. Can you still park at the camping parking and leave after the show? And is the camping parking better than general admission?

Bad behaviour in Boston tonight

Some real characters at tonights show in Boston. You’d think this would be an obvious, but if you’re the only person standing/dancing, SIT DOWN! People came to see Bob, not you. They’re always wearing hats too. To me this is more annoying than even people talking. The specific person I’m talking about was kind of to my left so he wasn’t obstructing my view of Bob but could still see him standing/dancing throughout the entire show. If this was you, you’re rude and have absolutely no consideration for others. It wasn’t even in front of me, I feel so bad for all the people sitting near you. Something similiar happened last Sept with people in front of me who brought their own penny whistles for Highway 61 (and were standing the entire time). I feel bad even having to get up to use the bathroom. Is this a Dylan concert thing or just concerts in general? Lots of people lacking any civic sense, and I didn’t even mention the guy yelling at people who spilled his wine on some poor woman. Shame on some of these people

Tin Angel

How have I not listened to this song or Tempest before today? Unbelievable and right up there with r&rw in terms of old man Dylan. I also just got familiar with Together Through life but know thats not as much of a liked one. After the 80’s I’ve been kind of skipping around. Whats next

Black Mountain in Lincoln

Anybody know of trails that go up this mountain? Can’t find anything at all online. If not what are some other cool hikes right near Hancock Campground

Edit: Additionally, has anyone done Whaleback Mountain across from it?
