The report adds the strait will remain closed while the US continues what Iran calls "hostile actions."
Ships may only pass via Iran's designated route and with permission from the IRGC Navy.
President Trump vowed a forceful response after U.S. forces intercepted an Iranian missile attack in Jordan, saying, "We're going to beat the effing S out of them" and "We'll be hitting them hard."
He also said overnight U.S.-Saudi strikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq were coordinated with Baghdad and warned further action against Iranian proxies is under consideration.
