Out of the blue
So this pop up came up. It will always come up until we accept it or have signed out and sign back in.
After putting in our master password even in the first time it pop up out of the blue, our PBKDF2 KDF iteration will be updated automatically for us without much knowledge of the user unless they click on the “learn more” button. From what I understand this update will happen automatically and immediately.
Yet over here https://bitwarden.com/help/kdf-algorithms/#changing-kdf-algorithms it says “Before making any changes to encryption settings, we recommend backing up your individual vault data first.”
But you’re not giving your users the ability to backup their vault when you show this pop up out of the blue. And you’re not informing them on the spot of the potential consequences of not backing up the vault before updating the KDF, instead, the field to put in the master password is front and center for them to unknowingly start the update without backing up first. Why?
Did your profile icon color change with the latest update?
I’ve always had my icon as purple since I started using Bitwarden year ago. How come after the recent update yesterday, without doing anything out of the ordinary, the icon color changed to green? Did Bitwarden make a change?
What is happening here?
Autofill browser hot key doesn’t work, so I click on the “Fill” button. This shows up. It’s the correct website.
Instagram removed E2EE from all chat messages, how were they able to do that when they do not have the keys to the encryption?
How is Instagram able to just turn off E2EE for all previous chat messages when they don’t have the keys to the encryption. And what is preventing other apps that tout about their E2EE (such as E2EE notes app, E2EE cloud storage, password managers etc) from doing anything similar?

How do you think ShinyHunters gave reassurance and proof that any copies of the data they had from Canvas were deleted?
So Instructure (Canvas) paid off the ransom and put out a statement. This is a part of the statement.
“With that responsibility in mind, we reached an agreement with the unauthorized actor involved in this incident. As part of that agreement, the data was returned to us, we received assurances that it will not be further shared on the dark web or elsewhere, and **we received proof that any copies of that data were deleted.**”
The last sentence in the quote above. How would ShinyHunters go about proving this to the point that Instructure would believe them and publicly put their word on that guaranteed data deletion?

URI autofill question
When adding a website url to the autofill field of a login item, excluding the “https://“ would still work as usual. Are there absolutely no differences between including and excluding the “https://“ other than optics?
I only ever use this browser on private window for temporary browsing.
Today when I opened a private window and hit cmd+f to bring up the search bar, there is already an email filled in. This is weird as I’ve never seen this email before let alone typed it, nor did this email appear anywhere on the page.
I clear out that input field and type in what I want to search for on the page as usual. Once done, I close the window and app entirely.
When I reopen the app with a new private window and bring up search, that email address appears again even though I’ve never searched anything in this session yet and in the last session I’ve cleared it out and searched for something else, this email address still appears by it’s own.
- I have never seen this email before let alone typed it in my life.
- I’m the only person using my personal computer
- I’ve checked my clipboard history and this email doesn’t appear prior to the incident.
- This is not website specific and happens on different websites.
- The email address exists per email validator services.
- I’m cognizant of internet hygiene and there’s nothing iffy happening on my computer other than this.
- Am on VPN but happens regardless of which server I’m on.
Any idea why is this email showing up in the search field, and persistent even after I’ve cleared it as well as closed and reopen the browser?

I’ve posted this on the main Brave subreddit but it got auto removed so I’m posting it here maybe someone here can shed light on this.

If I embed a website in a notion page, will that website’s cookies be stalled in the electron app? Say I embed my Instagram page that has a URL parameter tied to my profile, and then I embed the Apple website as well that uses Meta advertising cookies on their website to show Apple ads on Instagram. Will I then get Apple ads? Or does this not work for cookies on Electron apps?
