Seeing people you know on OLD

So a friend of mine called me today, and she saw a mutual friend of ours on bumble. I will add that this was a friend from high school.

I no longer live in my hometown, so it was fun to have a good chuckle over this.

Has anyone ever come across people on OLD that they already knew and how did you handle it? For example, seeing a friend of a friend on there, and knowing that it would potentially be a good match, but might be kind of awkward because you already know each other.

Women asking men out

I think there was another similar post but this is a different take on the question of being chased/pursued:

Are men in their 50’s ok with being asked out by a woman?

I personally see no issue with it. Although, I have only asked a man out one time in my 30’s and I crashed and burned. Then met my now ex husband and was married until 6 years ago.

I’ve recently met someone in a hiking group on facebook and we have had some great conversations. Great to the point where I feel like we could date.

And I am also totally ok with the rejection, I’ve only met the man twice. He is single and we are both 55, divorced and live with an hour of each other. It would be nice to get to know this person outside of a local hiking club.

So that’s a long way of getting to the point. Do I just appreciate the connection as friends or do I risk it? Obviously there are pros and cons to everything, but I feel like he would say yes.

Thanks for reading my nonsense…I’ll go back to work now

Pro Park

This is not acceptable. Neither of these cars had handicapped placards hanging from any part of their car. And to that car that is parked in the space that is meant for a wheelchair, there’s a special place in hell for you.

To be specific, this is the parking garage for people who live at 777 Main St. in Hartford, Connecticut. Why in the world do people think that it is OK to take these spaces away from somebody who actually needs them and has the legal documentation to park in these spots?

Pro park doesn’t care. They have been notified many times over the past couple of years regarding this issue and have done nothing.

And to the man I saw getting into the Volvo earlier, I know that I am making a sweeping generalization, but you don’t look like you needed to be parking in a handicap spot.

Does anyone know who to contact to address this issue, as pro park does not care?

Plateau question

I’ve been on contrave since January and the first two months were great. I lost 20 lbs.

From early March until now the scale won’t budge. I’ve noticed the food noise is back even on naltrexone and Wellbutrin.

I’m considering taking a break for a few months to see if I feel any different.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I have an appointment with my prescriber this week and plan to talk to her about it to get her opinion as well.

Alt-RX

I’m starting to see ads for this company saying that people over 55 can get a discount, and the discount looks really really good. Like almost too good to be true.

Has anyone else used this company recently?

Anything good? Anything not so good?

The picture on the left is from August of last year, the middle picture is from two months ago, and the picture on the right is today. Officially down a little over 20 pounds. I was going through some clothes in my dresser and as this is the outfit that I wanna wear in each picture, I came across it and decided to put it on and snap a photo.

Point being, keep going. The biggest thing I’ve learned from this journey is consistency. I’m not doing anything crazy, I’m not cutting carbs, I’m not eating crazy amounts of protein. I am, however, eating in a calorie deficit, even though it is a small deficit.

And I’m exercising, but nothing crazy and extreme. I’m walking, I’m doing some kettlebell exercises. With the warmer weather, I will be hiking more and more because the weather is great, and I hope to see maybe another 10 pounds gone by the end of summer.

When I started this journey last August, I was incredibly demotivated, I felt bloated all the time, and I really felt like I was going to be overweight for the remainder of my life. It is truly a lifestyle change, and absolutely possible.

So for whoever needs the motivation… Keep going.
