Bump-Proof Hummingbird Track Replacements (Files Available)

Made some 3D printed replacements for the hummingbird tracks. They're the same thickness, but smaller in length and width compared to the original cardboard ones. And the spaces are recessed so that bumping your board doesn't mess things up.

You can download the files here if you're interested

Also, anyone interested in these may also be interested in the organizer set that I designed and posted here a couple of weeks ago. It's designed to hold the base game and all expansion (plus hopefully all future ones). (If you've got questions about the organizer, check my post about it here)

Or if you don't have all expansions, I've got my older V1 organizer, which can hold all current expansions and fan packs except for Americas.

I don't sell any of my designs--the files are all just available for free on printables.

3rd Party LP-E17 Battery Review - 2+ Years - Wasabi Power

I just wanted to get this info out there for anyone doing some Googling on the subject.

In December 2023, I bought some Wasabi Power LP-E17 batteries for my R8. Specifically, these ones.

I bought them originally because a YouTube video I found. It described that, at the time, they were one of the only 3rd party batteries whose charger was also capable of charging Canon 1st Party batteries. Which was a nice bonus for me, even though I only have the one Canon battery that came with my camera when I bought it (new).

Anyways, 2.5+ years later, and the first Wasabi power batteries I bought are now starting to go bad. They are swelling and becoming difficult to get out of the camera, and (anecdotally with no actual rigorous testing to back this up), their life seems to me to be decreasing.

Worth noting that the Canon battery that I have seems to me to be working as well as the day I bought it.

I've used the Canon and Wasabi batteries about equally, with no preference for one or the other, and have used the camera moderately over that time span (I'm not a professional photographer, but would say I'm an avid amateur who does photography as an occasional side gig).

In my opinion, I'm happy this this lifetime for the Wasabi Power batteries.

A 2 pack of Canon batteries costs $130 on Amazon as of posting this and I don't believe comes with a charger, so $65 per battery

A 2 Pack of Wasabi Power batteries cost $30 on Amazon as of posting this (same price as in 2023) and come with a charger, so $15 per battery (or less if you include the cost of the charger).

So the Canon battery is ~4-5x the price.

It's certainly possible that the Canon battery would last long enough to justify this price difference, but to be honest, I would guess that they would not.

Personally, I'm happy to spend $30 on a couple of new batteries every 2-3 years, and get an additional charger with them, or just use the $130 to buy 8 batteries instead of just 1, which would probably also extend their life due to fewer charge cycles.

NBA Court Measurements - What Wemby experiences, adjusted for average US Male

https://preview.redd.it/ggpvsah4bj3h1.png?width=758&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d8000344b3ca02a14f86afdd633fba209e6c6e3

Long story short: If the NBA court were scaled down so that the average US male experiences the same proportions relative to his size that Wemby experiences, the court would be:

  • About 57' long
  • About 28.5' half court
  • 7'8" Rim Height
  • 18' 2" 3-pt line
  • Other players would be 5'1" tall on average
  • Ball would be 7.25" in diameter
    • Equivalent to a 23" circumference, as opposed to NBA 29.5 and WNBA 28.5

Here's the data in a copy-able format if anyone wants to plug in different numbers:

Stat Wemby (ft, decimal) Wemby (ft, readable) Average US Male (ft, decimal) Average US Male (ft, readable)
Height 7.42 7' 5" 5.75 5' 9"
Standing reach 9.58 9' 7" 7.33 7' 4"
Stride 8.50 8' 6" 5.17 5' 2"
Hand Span 0.90 0' 11" 0.71 0' 9"
Court Measurement NBA NBA (Readable) Adjusted (decimal) Adjusted (readable) Based on
Half Court 47.00 47' 0" 28.57 28' 7" Stride
Length 94.00 94' 0" 57.14 57' 2" Stride
Rim Height 10.00 10' 0" 7.65 7' 8" Standing Reach
3 Point Line 23.75 23' 9" 18.17 18' 2" Standing Reach

3D Printed Organizer (fits all current expansions + room for future)

I updated my original organizer, which fit the first 3 expansions, to now fit the Americas expansion and have (hopefully) plenty of space left over for any future expansions.

Here are all of the files and lots more details

Quick info:

  • Currently about 60% of the total card capacity of this organizer is used. So as long as future expansions don't add another 66% of the amount of cards we currently have, then this organizer can hold them
  • I opted to actually use two boxes, where my original organizer only used one.
    • I realize this may be a turn off, but hear me out on it. Full explanation of why I made this choice can be found on the printables page.
    • The second box (I use Oceania) holds all the "thicker cardboard stuff", like game boards, hummingbird tracks, the scorepad, a pen, the first player markers, etc.

If anyone's got some feedback, I'd love to hear it (either here or on the printables page)
