A server flexing on this sub

I thought I'd seen it all until I came across this guy. I have got to share because it ranks top silly posts I've seen on reddit. He claimed all anti-tippers behaved poorly, so I told him that it was very mature to assume that an entire group of people behaved poorly just because their value didn't align with his. He then replied with "Go cry some more broke a$$ chump" and posted his pay info below. The irony is, I actually make far more money than he does lol We have some really bizarre servers on this sub.

Certain restaurants should implement a tip later system

Let me start by sharing a personal story. My friend and I went to this order at the counter establishment. It was his treat. We ordered, and he paid and added a tip. We got our food and sat outside to eat. The food was good until I came across a long blonde hair mixed in mine. Purely disgusting. I went back inside and let the staff know. To my surprise, his response was, "That's not my hair," as he pointed to his black short hair. "That's blonde and long. My hair is black." I was stunned by this response and paused for a brief second in disbelief. He just stood there not offering any help. I had to literally tell him, "Yea, that's not the point. I didn't think it was your hair. The point is, there was a hair in my food, which is disgusting. I can't eat this." I showed him the hair and explained that it was in this sauce. He then offered to make another exact same meal, even though I showed him that the hair was in the sauce. He was going to scoop out of the same container the hair came from! I asked for a completely different meal instead.

As you can see, it was a pretty bad service that doesn't deserve a tip. But, a tip is solicited when you order, not after you receive your food, so they got a tip that my friend left anyway. Personally, I don't tip at a counter order establishment, but if they want to solicit a tip anyway, they should add a QR code on a receipt that gives a customer an option to tip after they have a chance to make sure that their order was fine. This will also reduce wait time at a counter as each customer won't need to spend extra time dealing with a tip screen.

Seeking advice - automate survey response in MS ecosystem

My company uses MS. My goal is to:

- Create a survey that produces separate category scores. For example, it can have category A through D, and the results could look like (A = 5, B = 2, C= 8, D = 10).

- The survey taker enters their email when they take it.

- Set up automation for AI to send a custom responses based on scores (e.g. If score A is > 6, say this. If score B is < 4, send a link to...).

Is MS Forms the best app for this purpose? What would be the best AI setup for the custom response? I would appreciate any pointers.

Thank you,

Servers constant contradictions

Is anyone tired of so many contradicting arguments that servers make? They constantly want it both ways even when it's completely illogical. Here are some frequent contradictions that pop up here.

  • Servers complain that their base pay is too low. They also complain that their paychecks are volatile, depending on which shifts they get and find it stressful to fight over better shifts. Yet, whenever there is a legislative effort to fix it by standardizing their pay by removing tips, they march down to protest.
  • They insist that their job is of high value and skills, yet they let employers pay them as little as possible.
  • They demand respect, but they'd rather keep the system that forces them to wave their tails at customers to get paid.
  • They claim to have high integrity but would rather exploit customers than standing up to their employers or the very unjust system that's subjecting them to the lowest base pay possible.

I wish they'd realize that people will respect them far more if they:

  • Not only accept but advocate for legislative efforts to stabilize their occupation with a stable pay that doesn't rely on tips. Not to mention, this will also fix the ridiculous disparity that exists in their occupation (e.g. A server with 5 years of experience could be making 3 times more than a server with 20 years of experience just because he works at an expensive restaurant).
  • Show enough self-respect to negotiate pay with their employers or go on strike if necessary to fight for justice. Learning how to exercise the right to strike is very important for any occupation: https://www.nlrb.gov/strikes I have no doubt that customers will back you up even.

The issue is not customers being cheap or not valuing servers' work. The real evil is the system that's subjecting servers to a ridiculous base pay that necessitates reliance on tips in the first place.

Serving is irrefutably a skilled labor

  • They named the job serving/waiting a table to trick people into thinking that it's a basic job just to screw with their heads.
  • Most anyone can qualify for the job because apparently most people are highly skilled fresh out of high school thanks to our top-notch education.
  • Restaurant owners decided to pay servers as little as possible because their incredible skills are just priceless.
  • The federal government was so impressed by servers' priceless skills that they decided to let restaurants pay them even less than minimum wage.
  • Every child dreams of becoming a server because it's a skilled labor that deserves so much respect.
  • When a date ghosts a server after learning what they do, it's only because they are intimidated by their talent and don't think they are worthy to date a server.

Here's your sign~

Poll: A fair wage for servers

One of the reasons why debates here go nowhere is because people are not debating with the same or even similar ideas about how much servers should be making. So, it would be crucial for us to know where we all stand. Please answer the following with your vote.

If tipping did not exist in the US, what should be servers' "national average hourly wage"?

No annual fee no foreign transaction CC recs

I don't travel much internationally (once a year or less), so I'm looking for a basic no annual fee cc to avoid foreign transaction fees. So far, I've found:

  • Wells Fargo Autograph
  • Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card

I'm wondering if there are other good options that I'm missing. If you know any, please let me know.

A "real" method to release villagers from Fromville

The show has been giving us all the clues we need. Multiple villagers have said that Fromville kept throwing false/misleading clues one after another to make them think that they were onto something or that they "figured it out" only to pull the rug out from under. Does this sound familiar? It's what the From producers have been doing to its fans. The From producers are the evil entity in From, baiting us to keep coming back, and for as long as we do, the show continues, causing the villagers to be stuck in Fromville and horrible tortures like a bad haircut and a giant wig. So, the real method to release them is for us to stop watching From. From will then get cancelled and the villagers will be released!

Debunking False Premises in Every Tipping Argument

We've all seen how the majority of threads turns into the same recurring arguments with false premises. This clearly isn't productive for this community, so I am listing common false premises and debunking them all here. If someone uses a false premise, simply direct them to this thread. No need to waste your time to engage in never-ending arguments.

  • If someone is against the tipping practice, they are a "non-tipper": False. Just because they criticize the tipping system doesn't mean that they are not tipping.
  • If someone is against the tipping practice, they are "cheap": False. Issues surrounding tipping are much more complicated than that. It's about fairness, not frugality.
  • Tips are "expected": False. The correct term for tipping is gratuity, which is a "voluntary gift" that a customer can "choose to give" to reward exceptional services.
  • People should be "generous" and feel good about tipping: False. Tipping is a gesture to show "appreciation" for exceptional services. It's not about generosity. Donation and charity are about generosity. Customers are not here to give away their hard earned cash to servers.
  • Servers are "beggars": False. Servers have been conditioned to seek compensation from customers. That doesn't make them "beggars."
  • Service jobs are skilled positions and deserve extra pay: False. Service jobs are among the least skilled labors. It doesn't mean that they don't involve skills. It means that involved skills are considered basic.
  • People are "just jealous" that servers are making more money: False. People want fairness and are simply pointing out how illogical it is for a low skilled labor to be making more than higher skilled and harder labors, such as teachers, fire fighters, EMTs, etc., "at customers' cost." It is healthy and important for people to address issues with existing systems because that's how we continue to evolve as a civilization.
  • People are "mean" or "working against servers": False. People are asking for the broken system to be fixed.
  • Servers deserve extra pay because they deal with difficult customers and demands: False. Every occupation encounters difficult people, even far worse than restaurant customers. It is never used as a metric for a greater pay in any occupation.
  • Servers deserve extra pay because it is stressful: False. Stress level is not a ground for a greater pay. Other jobs are far more stressful with greater responsibilities and pressure.
  • If tipping went away, menu prices will go up by 20%, so there's no difference: False. The current tipping system is allowing servers to collect greater pay than what is proportional to the low skilled labor. Servers are not making 20% more per hour. They are making 20% more per table, which creates volatile fluctuations. If restaurants set a reasonable server wage per hour, it will not require a 20% increase in menu prices. Servers naturally won't like this because they'll be making less money per hour. However, that does not make this incorrect. It means that a server wage will be set to what is appropriate for the low skilled labor. Another difference is, servers will be able to make appropriate tax contributions like everyone else. Unreported cash tips and tax deductions have negative impacts on our society. This will also remove ambiguity and unpleasant interactions between servers and customers. Servers also won't need to go out of their way to please customers and will be able to maintain their dignity. Servers also won't need to fight over peak hours or worry about making less money during certain shifts. Also, servers won't need to worry about being unfairly punished by a customer for a mistake with $0 tip. Customers shouldn't be able to punish you, only your employers should.
  • If you can't afford 20% tip, you shouldn't be eating out: False. It's not a matter of wealth but fairness.
  • We are all talking about the same issue: False. Service worker compensation is very different in each state, and redditors are arguing based on their experience in their home states. Try not to take differences in opinion as personal and keep in mind that we have different realities: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/state/minimum-wage/tipped

Does this mean it's the same user?

I have "Show members in channel list" enabled. Once in a while, when I run a new member name, the search result displays a different existing username instead. I'll just make up usernames to explain.

[Example]

User Sunbeam has been on my server for a little while.

User Moonlight joined yesterday.

I type in Moonlight in the search box, but the only search result displayed is Sunbeam for some reason.

Does this mean they are the same user? Or is this a bug?

Update: I figured out. The new user left the server. Apparently when you search for a member that's gone, the search box reverts to the last search conducted and displays it even though that's not what was searched. This is either a bug or a poor design.

What would it be like if customers deserved tips too?

At a glance, some might think, "What? That makes no sense." Well, today's tipping system makes no sense, so why not counter nonsense with nonsense?

It would be hilarious if we wore a shirt with a QR code that said:

Tipping your customer just got easier!

Your tip supports your customers to remain well-behaved outstanding customers.

Please show your appreciation by scanning the QR code below.

Suggested tips:

- 20% if your customer is wearing a shirt and shoes

- 25% if it's self-service or pickup order

- 30% gratuity is automatically applied for a group of 6 or more because we brought you more business

*5% convenience fee is applied for a quick order, not holding up the line (credit: Zestyclose-Put-5672)

Edit: It could work if we replaced "tip" with "discount" instead too.

Disclaimer: I'm mocking the corrupt system, not service workers. Some reacted strongly, misunderstanding this. Both service workers and customers have been exploited by it. Truth about Lake of Tears and Fromville

With a prolonged wait till the next episode, I figured it could be fun to pass time to shed some lights on the current focus: Lake of Tears (LoT)

Disclaimer: I don't claim to "know" anything. Just "sharing thoughts with fellow fans." I encourage everyone to do the same. Let's refrain from judging and criticizing another fan's view. The truth is, none of us can know anything for sure until the show reveals answers. No need to argue each other.

These are Victor's drawings that seem to depict LoT. I don't think there will be a huge eye that's literally filling a lake with tears (though that would be funny), so I believe LoT is not an actual lake but a metaphor. This drawing also shows that Victor doesn't just draw his memories but visions, and we all know that Fromville shows people bizarre visions.

Now to some theorizing. Tears symbolize emotional pain, be it sadness, regret, guilt, grief, etc. Spider is a symbol for captivation, and this whole show has been about that. So, the drawings tell us that LoT could be a collection of tormented souls.

Now, torment has been another recurring theme throughout this show. Fromville tempts people to do despicable things, leaving them tormented afterwards (like Sarah and many others). This tells us that there is a need for people to be tormented. This could also be why Fromville doesn't just simply kill everyone when it seems capable of it. This looks to me that Fromville doesn't benefit from killed innocent souls. Rather, it wants darkened tormented souls full of agony.

To put it together, I think there was some kind of Evil being that tricked the settlers. Let's call it Fromlord. Fromlord feeds on tormented souls. So, it told the settlers that they would be spared if they sacrificed their children. After they killed the children, it revealed that it was all a lie. Naturally, the settlers were consumed in unmeasurable regret, guilt, sorrow, pain, etc., making their souls ripe and tasty for Fromlord. It then fed on the settlers just like how MIY ate people at the end of the last cycle. Tormented souls consumed by Fromlord then gets all trapped, never allowed to move on. Tabitha and Jade's original souls didn't get trapped because they fought against child sacrifice and died trying to protect their daughter; hence, their souls remained pure. That's why they are able to move on and reincarnate.

Now that Fromlord got a taste of top quality tormented souls, he wanted more, so he created the fallen tree trap to lure in new people to do the same. Since then, Fromlord has learned various twisted ways to torment people, tapping into their deepest secret, guilt, imaginary fears, etc., which is why some people's fear manifests in monster forms. This could be why Fromville provides necessity for survival like food, shelter, and electricity. Fromlord wants people to live for a while so that he can "season" their souls with various tortures before he eats them.

Now, after Jim was killed, his soul also got trapped, perhaps because his soul had been tormented enough, but not like killed his own child level, so Fromlord's grip on Jim's soul is not as tight. Jim learned that LoT was a collection of trapped souls and that it was a key to getting out of Fromville. Therefore, he was able to sneak away to give Ethan clues. Jim kept looking back because he was anxious that Fromlord could catch him any moment.

Based on this, the healing property of LoT likely isn't referring to physical healing but spiritual healing. If those tormented souls are soul foods (pan intended) for Fromlord, once the tormented souls heal, released from their regret/grief/etc., they escape Fromlord's grip, weakening him deprived of fuel. Maybe that's how they defeat Fromlord in the end.

▲ 2 r/razr

I've seen many posts about this, so I'm sharing an easy solution.

Problem: If you bought your Razr from elsewhere rather than straight from Xfinity, their IMEI checker will reject it saying the phone is not compatible. This is not true. It just means that your phone's IMEI is not in their databse. The phone is obviously compatible as they sell it.

Here's how I worked around it.

Step 1: Find a compatible IMEI of a phone that doesn't support esim (use your friend's/family's or free IMEI generators online). I used an IMEI of iPhone X.

Step 2: Use that IMEI to get passed the compatibility check. You can choose new # or transfer (doesn't matter). Once done, it'll show that they are shipping you a pSim.

Step 3: Insert the pSim into your Razr and activate it via Xfinity app. An enclosed card will tell you to scan a QR code with a different device. Ignore that.

That's it. Pretty easy.

I want to try Il mare calmo della sera for karaoke, but my goto bar uses Karafun who only has this short version. The problem is, I can't find this short version anywhere. I want to check it out so I know how it goes. Does anyone know where this may be found?

u/refundroid — 2 months ago

I have an unlocked Razr 2025. Xfinity sells Razr 2025, so it obviously can work with their service. But, because I didn't buy it from Xfinity, my Razr's IMEI is apparently not in their database. The system keeps telling me it's not compatible. I tried contacting their support with a request to add my phone's IMEI, but both their chat and phone agents were utterly incompetent. Even though I explained the situation, and even though they both reassured me that they could help, they ended up telling me, "The system shows your phone's IMEI is not compatible." I obviously knew that. It was a huge waste of time.

I would appreciate any help. I already tried going to a local store with no luck.

I've been a loyal Tello customer for many years and have always spoken highly of them on many online forums and deal sites. Over many years, I've earned over $300 of referral credits by bringing customers to them. I've spent hours and hours to earn them over many years. Then, Tello deleted them all from my account!!!! This is ridiculous!

Edit: I'm adding that their reason was customers were only allowed to share a referral link with people we actually knew like friends and family.

Ironically, if you go to their referral page, they direct you to share your referral code on FB, X, etc.. I guess in their world, social media only has friends and family and no strangers.
