Which measurement on the surgical plan shows how far your maxilla will be advanced?

I know that the Pog shows the distance that your chin point will be advanced but I can't seem to figure out which of the anterior movements on the surgical plan illustrates the maxillary advancement?

Did any new grad cna(s) get hired at a hospital with no experience? Right after passing certification?

I'm looking to go straight into working at a hospital as a new grad cna and will complete my training and testing in about a month.

I want to work in a hospital setting, nor SNF or retirement homes. I'm in the Socal area and have 3 years experience working in a hospital kitchen but no clinical experience. I feel I can translate those skills and experience into being a cna, but want to know how common it is to be hired in a hospital with no patient experience.

Especially if you're in California please, I'd love to know your experience.

California CNAs, when did you get your 238B forms from your program?

From what I understand, you get it after your last day in your program after completing classes and clinical. And then you're able to take the 238B form and applying for your testing date.

Do I have that correct? What has your experience been in receiving that form and how soon after finishing your program did you get it?

Got confirmation yesterday that my surgery next month will be fully covered at no cost to me!

Got the confirmation yesterday from my insurance provider that all surgery costs include my one night hospital stay will be covered at no cost to me!

This is such good news and I just wanted to share it!

I had to ask so many times for clarification and confirmation and myself and the representative who called shared a good laugh as she could see the cost of the procedure. Got written confirmation in the insurance app and will be receiving a letter stating the same.

Skills Test at Eastlake Medical College in Fontana,Ca

Has anyone taken their skills test at this testing site in Fontana? I hear that they are pretty lenient and not so strict on the skills test.

What has your experience been?

Some locations for testing go overboard and mark you for non critical minor errors that don't compromise patient safety or health.

Can anyone recommend testing site in Socal area (LA/OC/SD)?

Will be finishing my program at the end of this month and I would like to take my exam and skills test asap after being signed off witht my program.

Can anyone recommend a testing center/location where they don't judge the skills test as harshly. I feel good about the steps and intuitively know who to treat the patient and keep them and myself safe, but sometimes get tripped up when having tot recite them aloud.

I was told the Fullerton testing site is easy, but would love to hear any other recommendations.

Thanks!

Having my pre-op appointment tomorrow? What questions should I ask? What should I bring up?

I'm having my pre-op appointment tomorrow for my surgery in September. I have a class 2 bite with 9mm overjet/overbite. Having surgery due to skeletal position of both jaws being recessed. And most importantly for airway expansion. I have upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) which really affects my breathing and sleep; making it difficult to get a good night's rest.

Surgeon wants to do big movements on both jaws, 10mm maxilla and 15mm mandible with 5mm expansion.

TBD on rotation and possibility of genio. I think I would benefit from genio given my short chin and lack or projection.

Anything I should ask or bring up during this preop?

As stated jn the title my 4 week program starts today 7/27, I'm currently in Socal and am doing this program in order to work at the hospital I'm currently employed in. I will basically transferring departments from food service to Noc CNA in a big hospital.

Is there any advice or anything you can share on successfully completely the program and starting my journey as a CNA?

I'm really excited for the change and am looking forward to what I'll learn along the way.

As much as people harp on her chicken legs, her teeth bother me more than anything.

Her teeth have always really bothered me. The fact that her dental aech is so narrow and V shaped cause her to slur her words, add to her mispronounced words and generally make her difficult to listen to.

They also just look funny. Why spend all that money on fillers, alleged facelift/boob job and not do something about those teeth? She honestly thought she'd be an actress and not do something about that?

Drake has the same narrow teeth and palate which give him that funny look like too. Why wouldn't she have given him the dental care to avoid an issue like that?

Any September surgery date "twins" in the subreddit? I'm September 2nd

Post your September surgery date.

How you're feeling as surgery day approaches?

What movements your having done?

Surgery in 2 months

Having djs in 2 months, for breathing/airway issues, UARS diagnosis, slight nasal deviation and snoring when sleeping. This is gonna be a big relief for me to finally breath and sleep right, hopefully through the night without waking or daytime drowsiness.

Getting big movements 10mm maxilla, 15mm mandible, with genio and ccw rotation. Also having a 5mm expansion. I have a low body fat percentage at 155lbs, so I'm interested to see the physical results. But just ready and excited to get this process behind me.

Have my preop next month, anything I should discuss with the surgeon?

What did Sutton say about Heather mcdonald and/or her son for Heather to bad mouth Sutton's son on patreon?

Like the title says, Heather mcdonald went after Sutton's son on patreon after Sutton allegedly said something about one of Heather's sons.

What are your thoughts/opinions on working nights at a hospital?

I just completed my certification, applied for and received an offer to work nights at my local hospital. Large trauma 1 hospital in Southern California. What are the pros/cons of working nights in a hospital setting?

I used to be a caregiver in a retirement home and grew tired of being under staffed, under paid and unsupported, so I left the industry for a bit to work in food service. Coming back now in a new setting and working with a cna certification for the first time. Pay and benefits are good in job offer. I will be in med/surg, surgical acute is what I'm told.

Is 6 weeks enough time off work for someone who works on their feet all day?

I average about 15-18,000 steps per shift and need to be able to speak to people in my line of work. I wanted to know if 6 weeks was a reasonable amount of time to take off work for recovery?

I'll be having a splint for maxilla expansion, and double jaw surgery with some pretty big movements

Maxilla: 10mm, Mandible: 15mm with a genio & ccw rotation.

Should I request more time?

Got the job offer letter, but need 6 weeks medical leave in September

So I just got my job offer letter, but I have long standing surgery scheduled that will require 6 weeks recovery. I don't necessarily care or expect to be paid during my leave because I have saved and budgeted for a year leading up to it.

Should I bring this up to them now when accepting the offer? Or wait till it's closer to the surgery date and act like it's something that just came up?

Job offer dilemma concerned scheduled surgery in the fall

So I just completed an interview for a job and everything went really well. So much so that I was all but offered the job, but have to wait for hr to reach out with the official offer letter. My dilemma is that I have a long scheduled surgery this fall in which I'll need 4-6 weeks to recover.

Should I reach back out to the hiring manager and let her know that I have this surgery scheduled? Or should I say nothing about it and act like it was a surprise and just deal with it later when it comes up? It would literally be within 3 months of starting. The honesty might cost me the job or endear me to them, but let's real (more than likely they would pass me over)

I'm torn because on one hand, don't feel like I owe them health information, but it also seems deceitful. I don't know what I should do, because I see a future for myself here in the short term (1-2yrs), but not a career-career.

Help! 😭

Does Allied Universal provide health insurance for part positions? California

I've seen some part time positions posted that are 2 days a week, some 3 days a week. Does Allied provide health insurance for those positions?

Anyone find it weird that 2 major powerball jackpot wins in California have gone unclaimed?

I haven't seen a single news story, article or press release from the California Lottery about these two unclaimed jackpot tickets:

Arleta,Ca (near LA) $204 Millon, May 31,2025

Anaheim, CA (OC) $ 515 Million, March 30, 2025

It just strikes me as odd that, one someone would buy tickets and just be so careless, but more importantly that no effort was made to bring awareness to the deadline to claim the tickets. I remember that several times the California lottery did use servailance video to find winners who purchased the tickets.

If they actual winners don't know what they lost on, I hope they never find out and remain blissfully unaware. Because that would eat me up inside to know what I've missed out on.
