Tax the rich !

A shake in the morning has been a huge help recently !

I suck at waking up! I have to leave the house around 7:20 and refuse to wake up until 6:50, leaving me with 30 minutes to brush my teeth, take a shower, and get a coffee.

That leaves me with zero time for a proper breakfast, so I used to buy a few snacks and sandwiches from a local bakery to avoid starving at work. They were delicious but had a horrible nutritional profile in general. So many calories for little satiation and nutrition. Not acceptable longterm for sure and it showed. Walking to work saved me, I walk around 20.000 steps a day on average but even now, I have gained some weight back the last months.

I tried a few things attacking this issue throughout the year like overnight oats, or cooking a huge amount of food the day before to bring to work the next day, but it never worked out longterm. The same goes for meal prepping. I always grow tired of eating the same things over and over or I just suck at meal prepping haha. Great if any of these work for you ! 😄

So few weeks ago, I got into drinking a shake before I start walking to work. My shake contains a high quality vegan and clean organic multi component protein powder with zero aromas, fillers or sweeteners, 2-3 tablespoons of instant oats, one tablespoon of almond butter, and a teaspoon of psyllium husk and wheat bran and around 600-700ml water (sometimes mixed with a bit of oat milk if I have enough for shake and coffee haha)

(Dope shake right ? Any constructive criticism or ways to improve ? 😃)

It is not the most enjoyable thing for sure, which is great at the same time because it is so bland and boring that I really don't grow tired of it, and it is finished in just 30 seconds. It fills me up, gives me a good amount of protein, a decent amount of healthy long chain carbs, healthy fats from the almond butter, and a bit of high quality fiber to improve my digestion.

I still get a snack from the bakery, but just for enjoyment during my break time something low caloric. I am satisfied now until I get back home to cook some proper food. Fully on track to lose the last 5-10kg of excess body fat now finally.

Targeting the 80-83kg mark after fluctuating between 86-92kg for 2 years now. Coming from 125kg so I am pretty proud already but duuuude losing the last 5kg is really no joke at all haha.

Steakday ! :)

Oven roasted bell peppers and potatoes as a side.

+ A lil skyr based herbal dip as a side, (leftover from two days ago that must go anyway.)

Steak on ultra high heat for 2 minutes per side followed by another 2-3 minutes of basting in butter on low heat with rosemary, garlic and thyme followed by a few minutes of resting.

Nomnomnomom.

Is this a good probiotic brand ? (Just flexing with my homemade naturally fermented organic cabbage :D)

Pretty easy to make actually. If you consider taking probiotics consider fermenting some cabbage instead and have a spoon of it every day.

Red one also has plenty of antioxidants especially anthocyanins creating the red color. Good stuff honestly and also cheap af.

P100se my first "proper" headphones. what a revelation Dude !

Listening to music is a completely different experience now. I always used decent, budget-friendly headphones like Soundcore, and I didn't expect such a massive difference.

The sound is so crisp and clean, it feels like my ears have been reborn honestly. Even simple stuff like stereo panning is insanely more noticeable compared to my old gear.

Sitting on a train right now and time just flys by. :D

Intro

As someone who has dealt with herpes since early childhood, I want to share the protocol that helped me dramatically reduce my outbreaks.

I have had herpes for as long as I can remember. Very early childhood, It came and go and was always part of my life but a few years ago, I suffered from frequent, multiple outbreaks with sores appearing on several spots on my lips simultaneously. As one healed, another would begin, it was horrible. Today, I am virtually symptom-free. My last outbreak was nearly two years ago and was very minor gone in just a few days.

Supplement Protocol

Zinc (Bisglycinate) I take 25 mg as Bisglycinate daily/most days. Zinc really does a lot! It acts as an intracellular messenger for T-lymphocytes and Natural Killer cells for example. Bisglycinat has the highest bioavailability and won't cause trouble for your stomach compared to other forms of zinc. It is build into an amino acid basically. Zinc also helps during active outbreaks and stops the virus systemically from replicating efficiently.

I am a very active athletic stronger dude, with a particularly high coffee intake (it blocks zinc from being absorbed lol) and mostly eat plant-based diet, so my natural zinc resources are lower. NOTE: Higher regular doses of zinc can otherwise deplete copper levels longterm which can end pretty damn bad (anemia) so keep in mind: For most people, 10–15 mg daily is sufficient. Because the body cannot store zinc, daily intake is necessary for consistent immunity. I need a bit more as an athlete and coffee junkie compared to you and I also skip it from time to time. I probably also switch to 15mg daily when my 25mg box is gone haha. But it works, I honestly think that zinc supplementation did the most. Everything for me (related to herpes) changed when I started the regular supplementation of zinc around 2 years ago. In theory you can get it from natural food sources but I don't get enough regularly for sure I checked it.

Vitamin D I take 2,000–4,000 IU daily, except during summer because in Germany we can't get enough otherwise. It is essential for immune regulation; nearly all immune cells have Vitamin D receptors for a reason (even if we don't really know why right now. :D). It just is a foundation for general immunity.

Magnesium This is a necessary cofactor for Vitamin D transport and activation. Without sufficient magnesium, Vitamin D cannot be properly utilized by the body. It also helps regulate the nervous system, which is useful for preventing stress induced viral reactivation.

Edit: I take a complex with different forms of magnesium otherwise bisglycinat always is a great choice! I take 200-400mg a day depending on my diet and lifestyle.

UV Protection UV radiation is a confirmed trigger for lip herpes because it causes localized immunosuppression. Using a sunblock specifically for lips can help a lot during summer.

Lemon Balm I use a german product called LomaProtect, which contains UV blockers and Melissa officinalis (lemon balm). There is some scientific evidence supporting the use of lemon balm in preventing viral replication by interfering with how the virus attaches to cells so I thought if I use lip sun blocker anyway I go with one that includes lemon balm.

Best wishes to you guys. I feel you and hope you will get better.
Personally I am pretty happy and don't worry anymore about Herpes right now and hope I found my solution.

If you have other questions, I really tried a lot in my 32 years and have a decent background from reading studies and doing smart and stupid things because of personal long term suffering feel free to ask me anything.

Edit: I only have HSV-1 (lip / cold sores), but the immune support provided by zinc, Vitamin D, and magnesium applies just as well to HSV-2 in general. If you suffer from recurrent herpes, I highly recommend especially a high quality zinc supplement (Bisglycinate) unless you happen to eat plenty of oysters every day. Remember to not take crazy doses. 10-15mg is perfectly fine to boost immunity. Anemia and copper depletion is a real threat if you just yolo down huge amounts of zinc every day.

This week I've been taking 400 mg of L-theanine in the morning with two double espressos after a good friend recommended it.

I didn't expect much, but duuuuude, it works. Usually, I am tired, angry, and stressed at work (though I can control it and don't take it out on colleagues 😄), but this week felt very different.

I am energized, I don't feel stressed, and life is good in general. Previously, I drank 5+ cups of coffee a day to stay awake and was still tired. This week, I haven't needed any additional coffee besides my morning espressos, and I feel great.

It might be a coincidence or 100% placebo, but honestly, I don't think so. Something feels different really.
