Diving straight into the shadows of Gotham. 🦇🏙️
Easily one of my favorite heroes to light in the studio! 🦇 Wanted to go for a heavily cinematic and moody look for Batman, playing with red and blue tones to capture the spread of the fabric cape in this high-angle dive.
Sin and redemption in the dark nights of Hell's Kitchen. 🏙️❌
For this setup with Lego Daredevil, I wanted to lean heavily into the dramatic and contrasting themes that define his lore. I used a striking, bright neon cross in the background to create an intense backlight that wraps around the figure, combined with physical fog at the base for that gritty NYC atmosphere.
Do you prefer this comic-book-inspired aesthetic for toy shots? Let me know below! 👇
A rainy, brooding night high above Hell's Kitchen. 🌧️😈
Getting pretty dark and moody today! 🌧️ Settled Lego Daredevil on top of a cross, watching over the city under the rain and moonlight. Really love how the red plastic reacts to that cold background illumination. What do you think of this gothic atmosphere?
Seeing the world from a different perspective! 🏙️🕸️
Nothing is more iconic than Spider-Man just chilling upside down mid-swing. For this shot, I went for a clean vertical framing and used soft lighting to make the bright colors of the Lego suit pop against the blue New York sky.
A leap of faith straight into the Spider-Verse!
For this shot of Lego Miles Morales, I used a sharp top-down angle to simulate that classic free-fall vibe through the skyscrapers. The blurred neon lights in the background help bring out that iconic New York night palette.
Stormtrooper patrol.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to share this recent shot of my imperial squad. I used a macro lens to keep the focus locked on the front troopers, letting the background LED panel blur out into those geometric light circles. Also added a slight tilt to the camera to break the rigidness of the minifigures and make it feel like an actual march on uneven ground.
Diving into the shadows of Hell's Kitchen!
Hey everyone! Just wanted to share this shot where I tried to simulate fluid comic-book movement using completely rigid brick pieces. It took some time editing out the wire rigs and getting the directional motion blur on the flying club to look natural, but I really dig how the red plastic pops against that blue night sky.
"You shall not pass!"... Wait, wrong universe. Had a blast shooting this crossover scene using practical smoke and backlighting.
Hey guys! Just wanted to share this recent shot. It took a bit of patience to get the smoke density right without washing out the foreground wizard, but the harsh warm backlighting gave me exactly that "fire and destruction" vibe to contrast with the cool blue light on him.
By the power of Grayskull!
I wanted to capture the sheer power of He-Man riding Battle Cat. To bring that classic 80s transformation energy into the real world, I used a practical effect with real sparks in the background during the shot!
Keeping the focus sharp on He-Man with Battle Cat looming in the foreground gave it the exact battle-ready vibe I was looking for.
The Man Behind the Cowl
Hey everyone! I wanted to share this shot exploring a more reflective and moody side of the character.
Technically, I went with a sharp top-down lighting setup to push the contrast, carve the silhouette out of the shadows, and capture the realistic drape of the fabric cape.
Let me know what you guys think of the atmosphere!
Swings of the Friendly Neighborhood
Just wanted to share this shot of my Lego Spidey! I really wanted to push the forced perspective and give it a real sense of height and vertigo by tilting the camera aggressively. The blurry brick background worked out exactly how I hoped.
