Anyone considering solar panels for their home following this NIPSCO fiasco?

Pros and cons of this? I'm guessing it's very expensive. Pretty uneducated on this front, but I'm not a fan of noisy generators and pumping more gas for these. Thoughts?

Thoughts on the use of AI generated promo from small businesses in the area?

Assuming most of the small businesses around here are cool with data centers if they’re solely using AI generated promo. What are your thoughts?

Converting a fire pit to a small native garden - 1 year of progress

We started renting this house in June of last year. Previously renter constructed a makeshift fire pit which we filled in and gathered various seeds/small plants and planted/transplanted last year. Nothing crazy just some ostrich ferns, common milkweed, silver wormwood, American jump seed, prickly pear, various sedges and grasses. We bought a nearby home and are transitioning out of this place/not focused on the garden here. Hope the landlord doesn’t mow it down!

Came across an injured beaver at 5701 W 29th Ave, Gary, IN 46406 this morning, can anyone pick it up & take it to the Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center?

I am on a road trip and unfortunately they don’t pick up animals but they said they would gladly take it if someone can pick it up

Welcome to the Miller Beach subreddit

Hi folks, I'm just a neighborhood guy who noticed that there isn't a subreddit for our beach town. Please keep it civil as the rules are loose over here much like our vibes. Peace n love.

Invasive Chocolate Vine - Native Restoration in Indiana Dunes

Hi -- we recently purchased a home previously owned by a fellow gardener who planted the highly aggressive chocolate vine. They planted it for a lattice on the side of the house, but it's taken over half of the yard, climbed over the juniper trees and is creeping into the woods. We need to eradicate it before it becomes an threat to our neighborhood and the dunes.

I'm looking for any expert advice on removing this aggressive vine which I know could take years, but we'd like to act as fast as possible. The dunes is known for its biodiversity and I'd like to restore this yard with native plantings. I've tried reaching out to the NPS and the Save the Dunes organization to no avail.

Thank you for any suggestions!

Contractor financing? Any experience with these and what are your take aways?

I have a big plumbing job (60k) going into a new home and we have to do some sort of financing. If anyone has any experience here, could you let us know your thoughts and which companies are the least shady? Thank you!

Flooring question - what would you do?

We’re under contract to buy this little fixer home. The previous owners left this patch of the floor unfinished and cut the hardi board on curves for some reason. It’s about 1/2” deep from the laminate/hardi board to the sub floor. How would you approach this? We plan on keeping the stove. 🙏
