Best Place to Look for a Pale Pink Prom Dress for a 6'2" 320 lb Dude

I'm trying to go as Carrie for Halloween (post pig blood dumping) and have no idea where to start for looking for a dress locally, especially one with my unique size needs lol. My budget is $100, and preferably less in case I screw up the blood and have to start over with a new dress. Also if you have any good recommendations for cheap wigs I would love to hear that too!

Idiot’s guide to gear?

I’ve been playing BG1 for a couple years now. The reason it’s taking me so long is that every time I get to a new weapon/armor shop I stop playing for a couple of months. For some reason the laundry list of gear plus the way it handles inventory screens immediately makes me want to do anything else. I feel like I have to get a spreadsheet just to keep track of basic options for each character. Is there something I’m missing? Or is it legitimately this tedious every time I hit a shop with better gear?

I love everything else. The writing. The quests you have to track yourself a bit. The extreme open ended nature. I really like the combat! But sweet Jesus save me from having to peruse the shop for 10 minutes for each of my companions.

Birthday discs for my 15 year old son

My son has gotten into CDs as a way to listen to music lately and wanted some of my favorites. Instead of getting my favorites now, I grabbed 5 of my most listened to CDs from when I was his age. I’m very curious about how he feels about O Brother. That soundtrack was an absolute banger.

Dragon Slayer, the game that started it all, released on Switch this week.

The very first game in the Dragon Slayer series was released on switch this week. The series that eventually spun off into the Trails games.

It’s…. Not much of a game. Or very enjoyable. It’s a very early action RPG with weird rules and a gameplay loop that frankly sucks. Also good lord look at those graphics.

But it is historically so so important. One of the first Japanese RPGs. It tried to mix arcade game sensibilities with the dungeon crawling loop that Wizardry had inspired much of Japan to fall for.

The 2.0 just means a rebalancing of some things. It’s very much the first Dragon Slayer game. And it’s awesome because outside of PC-88 emulation and a weird Saturn collection, this game has been completely inaccessible. It’s less than 10 bucks and comes with some interesting, if short, reading on the game.

Update on the finds in my dad’s stuff

I still need to find a good place to set this thing. I trust none of my current desks haha. But it’s beautiful. And it seems to be the perfect monitor for my foray into getting a MiSTer.

It’s not playing nice with my PS2 as the component inputs on the back are not what I expected. So I need to dig into that. Also I don’t know if it’s worth it to even try with my N64 and NES.

But it looks tremendous. Any tips for care and upkeep? If anyone else has dabbled with crt computer monitors and FPGA, any advice there?

Finds in my dad’s stuff

I’ve been getting into more retro gaming on original hardware lately. And talking to my dad, he had some old CRTs. They need cleaned obviously, but they plug in and function just fine.

I know tv and computer CRTs are very different beasts. So realistically what are these good for? I know the resolutions are very different. I have a crt with composite, so I have options. If these are strictly better, great! If not, that’s fine too.

Looking to do gen 3 to gen 7. And this opens a door for old pc gaming too. Thanks in advance!

Trying to Run Wizardry on AppleWin, multiple systems.

I've tried on my desktop, Mister, and my Ayn Thor, with two separate issues. With my desktop, when I get to the title screen and hit enter, the system just goes to a black screen and hangs. Same thing happens with the Mister. For my Thor, I can get to the castle after swapping disks, but then when I go to the training grounds to create a character, it says there is no room left. I've spent the last hour googling around, but I seem to be at a loss for these old systems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

TurbeGrafx Games Not Loading on Android Devices

EDIT: A log file from the one time I got it to load. No idea what is happening with making it inconsistent. https://pastebin.com/UniiAGPW

Also the Roms are working fine with all other cores. Just not Beetle PCE Fast. Which sucks because my save states are all for the PCE Fast core :(

Hi all,

I for the life of me cannot get turbografx games to consistently start on my Thor or Retroid Pocket. On occasion I will get it to load on the Thor, and then I can play for a while. But when I close, I have a 5% chance of getting it to open again. I haven't had the stubbornness with the Retroid to try to get it to load at all. It also crashed when I tired to adjust shaders. But when I go to start a game from retroarch or cocoon, it will not even bring up a system screen. Just straight back to the cocoon front page or retroarch crashes and it kicks me to the home screen.

I'm using the Beetle PCE Fast core. I have the bios files (gexpress and syscard 1, 2, & 3) in the rom folder, the bios folder, and the retroarch systems folder just to make absolute sure that was not the issue. Here is the log: https://pastebin.com/9kFT4HXR

I'm headed on vacation tomorrow so any help would be lovely. Thank you!

Homemade Chicago Deep Dish from The Pizza Bible

This thing almost killed me. Prepping the meatballs, sausage, veggies, and dough was a multi day affair. And then trying to get through a slice was so delicious and painful. I failed but I’m excited for the more than half pizza leftover for my family of 6 lol. This was a very satisfying monstrosity that is a once a year dish at most.

RetroArch on Steam Deck not recognizing save and state files.

Apologies for the pictures of a screen. I was too tired and annoyed to take the extra 30 seconds to get screenshots from the deck.

Anyways, this week I set up Syncthing on my Retroid Pocket, Thor, and Steam Deck, using my pc as the server. I had some minor issues with getting files to the steam deck (they weren’t in the right folder on my pc, they went to a sub folder called .stversions and the regular folders were empty). But I got that solved and the files synced to the steam deck.

However I can’t get the steam deck to recognize the files at all. As far as I can tell I’m using the same cores, have the directory locations pointed correctly to the built in hard drive, and the save state that I tried to load in the pictures above, 7, exists in that folder.

I’m at a complete loss here and don’t know why I’m having so many issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Healthy Cookbooks That Are Not About Being Healthy Cookbooks

Edit: Good god y’all. Thanks a ton. I have cookbook ideas to last me for decades. Hopefully this can be a good resource for others looking for something similar. You guys rock.

Hey all. I've been tracking what I've been eating lately, and I need to be better about my nutrition. Especially protein and fiber. But a ton of the recommendations I've seen online are targeted diet cookbooks and stuff like that. No shade to those, but those aren't for me. I'm looking for a cookbook that is more incidentally healthy because of the type of dishes it covers. Or if it is a health conscious cookbook, to not be so forward about it. For me, I want the recipes to be designed for quality, not health. But still be healthy.... Hopefully this makes sense haha. Thanks in advance!
