Bloodreaver Blade is so good it borderline ruins the game...
I've been working through my first playthrough and having a blast trying lots of different weapons and builds. I saw the Bloodreaver Blade in the shop for 8000 haze and figured it must be fairly decent.
Having now played with it for a bit, it is so insanely better than anything else that it is essentially pointless to do anything else. The charged heavy of my 2-handed sword does around 500 damage. A properly timed Bloodreaver Blade does 10,000 damage.
Encounters with larger non-boss enemies have gone from a strategic fight where I had to land 15 or 20 charged heavies, to now just one-shotting everything.
I suppose it's an odd complaint to have but I sort of wish I hadn't discovered it. It has made everything else feel totally redundant.
Can I leave Undead Forest and go to Corroded Scar instead?
I finished Sunken City and followed what appeared to be the intended route and ended up in the Undead Forest. After playing through about half of it I noticed it was insanely harder than Sunken City. I googled it to see if other people had that experience and have only now just discovered the game actually intends you to do Corroded Scar first.
Anyway having now seen a bunch of cutscenes and progressing various storylines in Undead Forest will I break anything by abandoning it and going to Corroded Scar instead?
TRMNL X One Week Review - Cool idea, frustrating execution (long post)
I have had my TRMNL X for a week now and have a fairly clear view of my first impressions. This is by far the most confusing and frustrating experience I've ever had with a new device.
First off to give credit where it's due:
The form factor is great. Small enough for lots of use cases but enough screen space to do most things you would want.
The build quality (at least for my unit) seems good. It feels robust and the soft touch plastic finish is very nice.
The community seems good and engaged. The open source nature of the framework allows for good collaboration and it's nice to see people putting together plugins for others to use.
The not so good:
The lack of a user manual is baffling. A $2 alarm clock from Temu would include a quick start guide. It is unacceptable for a $200+ device that the user is expected to trawl through the help section of a website just to understand the basic functions of the device. How does the device work? What does the touchbar do? How do I switch it off? What are the mounting options? Why does the device allow me to set the refresh rate to 5 minutes when the max refresh rate for every plugin is 15 mins? How do I soft reset? How do I hard reset or factory reset? Can you even do that?
The lack of a physical button is, in my opinion, a huge design mistake. Troubleshooting is made near impossible without the feedback to know if you have actually done something. The device appears to be stuck on a given screen. I tap the touch bar and nothing happens. Is it frozen? Did I not interact with the touch bar correctly? Who knows. I remove the charging puck and take it around to the back to attempt the soft reset as described in the depths of the help website. Nothing happens. Did I do it wrong? No way of knowing. I repeat the steps 30 times. The device then flashes indicating at least something happened. Did I finally manage to do the steps correctly? Did I do it right the first time and it just took ages to react? No way to tell.
Which brings me on to the charging puck itself. Not only is it totally pointless but it also brings two major downsides. Firstly it prevents the device from sitting flush against a wall while charging. Secondly it adds yet another variable to any troubleshooting. The device does not appear to be charging. Is the device not working? Is my charger not working? Is the puck broken? Are the pins misalinged? A simple USB port on the side or bottom of the device would solve both of these issues.
Then my single biggest complaint is just the total inconsistency of the functionality. The primary reason I wanted the TRMNL was to display my Google Tasks task list in near real time. A week later and I still have not been able to get this to reliably work.
Issues to date:
The battery percentage has never reported higher than 94% even though it has been plugged in for days.
The accelerometer seems to be bugged. The device changes plugin when I move it in any way, even if I am nowhere near the touchbar.
The functionality of the touchbar seems to be essentially random. Sometimes it does what it's meant to do. Sometimes it does something else entirely. Sometimes it does nothing at all.
The device does refresh every 15 mins, in the sense that the screen flashes briefly, but the actual data shown refreshes at random. Sometimes changes to my Google Tasks reflect within a couple of refreshes, sometimes nothing updates for hours or even days at a time.
Tapping the middle of the touchbar sends the device to the loading screen. Sometimes it sits on the loading screen for seconds, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours, totally at random. When the pages refreshes, the overwhelming majority of the time the data behind the scenes does not appear to have updated and the new page displayed is exactly as it was before the refresh.
At this point one of three things is the case:
- My device is faulty
- It's not faulty and just isn't fit for my purpose
- I am doing something wrong and I am unable to comprehend the help website well enough to figure out what it is
I will troubleshoot for another couple of days and if I can't get it to do the very basic task that I bought it for I'll look into the refund process.
Need assistance understanding refresh rate vs updating of data
Hi there. I got my trmnl X yesterday and it doesn't quite operate as I assumed it would. The primary use case I have it to show my task list from Google Tasks to track work tasks throughout the day. I have added the Google Tasks plugin and my task list does display. The device refreshes as expected. The issue is that the actual data seems to only update very occasionally.
I have the device's refresh rate and the plugin's max refresh rate both set to 15 mins. I assumed that would mean that every 15 mins the device would request my current Google Tasks list and display it as it currently is. That is not at all what seems to happen.
Test scenario:
- My Google Tasks list is displayed on the trmnl
- I add a task in the Google Tasks app on my phone
- At some point in the next 15 mins the trmnl refreshes (I have sat and watched it and it does flicker indicating a refresh)
- Nothing in the Google Tasks list has changed. It is exactly as it was before I added the tasks 10 mins ago
- I went to bed last night
- When I woke up this morning the new task I added last night is now displaying on the trmnl
So at some point overnight it appears the trmnl did request new data from my Google Tasks. If this is operating as intended the refresh of Google Tasks data is way too infrequent to be useful for my purposes. Can someone confirm if this is working as intended or have I potentially configured something wrong?
I think i already know the answer but just checking before I rip it in half
Bought this from a lovely lady. I'm sure she didn't think it was fake but when I got it home and had a closer look. The text is pretty blurry and it feels a little floppy vs a card I know is real.
All English cards from 1999
I've been on a quest, combining my childhood collection with some extra singles, to collect every unlimited card released in 1999. I have complete base, jungle and fossil sets. I also have the no. 1 through 5 black star promos.
I've found it surprisingly difficult to verify if this is everything. Is there anything I'm missing?
