please tell me im not crazy for buying expensive thermals and overthinking my gear

so, I've been through sunnny Greece and im about to go from far too sunny Spain to less sunny Spain and then even less sunny Ireland, from there im hoping to spend the winter in southwest Wales and then move on through France/Germany/Italy back home in time for easter or something. im excited to be away from the sun but obviously it comes with a wardrobe adjustment. ive ordered two sets of pure wool thermals, and im kinda second guessing myself with the cost, i come from a semi arid, mild place and this is going to be my first real winter.

i have lightweight rain clothes, and ill be buying waterproof shoes when i get to Ireland and probably a heavier outer shell. ill be intending to do workaways throughout this trip so i can slow down a little in each spot, so ill be outdoors working, and ill be hiking, visiting cities, whatever. again, first winter. I'll need gloves and probabl some wool socks i guess? i was planning to thrift a midlayer for budgeting reasons.

does it sound like im bonkers or may i just pull it off?

Lookinf for advice on resupplying my Estrogen as a tourist

hey im 30 MtF, fully adult and self reliant, ill be in dublin from the start of october for a while, and im going to attempt to resupply my sublingual estrogen before i travel to the UK/ back into the shengen.
So i have my Australian doctors notes and medical information, im going to get a blood test first up as ive gone from a pellet to the pellet +sublingual tablets. im kinda seeing that i should just fork the money, set up a gendergp telehealth and give them the fresh blood results and my medical notes from my home GP and they should probably just accept it and hand me some months supply of E.

so

does anyone have any anecdotal info, first hand info?
im obviously going to be blindly fumbling my way into your medical system so any help is appreciated. <3

EDIT: ive just read GenderGP is AIAutomated so id be better off trying with Imago instead?

visiting in early winter, am i chronically overthinking like usual?

EDIT: Hey, my post is badly written! The actual point of this was just to be reassured that I wouldn't be harassed or attacked in rural areas. I'm traveling completely solo and trans, and honestly, I'm terrified a lot of the time, so I was using bad humor to mask my fear when I asked this stuff. I’m not trying to pull some one-girl culture heist, I'm not going to try and claim I'm Irish, and I'm not trying to water anything down by pushing where I'm from through the door. It's just fucking expensive to fly to this place from home, and since I'm going to be close by, I'm taking the financial win and visiting. I genuinely just want to find places where I can engage with the music and the language while I travel. I'm not interested in cathedral tours or endless selfie opportunities; I just want to exist in places before I go home and do it all again there. I'm trying to stay excited about this rather than paranoid and anxious about things I've not experienced.

hey hey, im prepping for a two-ish month stay in ireland. currently the plan is to just land in galway and figure it out from there. my absolute dream trip is to learn some gaeilge and hit up proper trad sessions when im not staring wistfully into the green or getting completely pummeled by my first experience of atlantic sea fury.

im a bit anxious that ill end up in some rural area full of ultra-conservatives and have a miserable time. should i actually be worried about that? are people out there curious and open to having a chat? i know im not in any actual physical danger, and honestly im already used to people staring at me like im a museum exhibit, but i just want to feel welcome.

i love stout and even though im a few generations lost diaspora, most of my heritage comes from ireland. i really want to visit places that feel less like im just the product of a genocidal colony and more like somewhere i can actually connect.

what do we think? id love any recs on where to head after galway for the language and music, or just some honest perspective on what to expect. xoxo

I'm heading to Europe and can't wait to see some critters! where should I look?

hey all, I'm so close to the start of my travel beginning in greece, and I'm excited to get out amongst it and see some critters foreign to me, I love reptiles and insects, as well as birds and beasts, but I'm thinking of angling my hikes and travels to align, best I can with biodiverse spots.
have you got any suggestions or powerful memories to point me toward the little angels? ill probably spend a lot of time in botanic gardens and price pending museums as well.

open ended travel, id love to get on a crew or volunteer in europe somehere

Hey all, where should I look for opportunities to help build for festivals?

I’ve never been to Europe, only speak English, and don’t really know the community over there. I’ve done a bit of this kind of work in Aus, love making stuff, and I’m very comfortable with hands-on work and mechanical problem-solving. I’d be keen to offer my time to a group making fun art/build projects, but I’m a bit unsure where to start with those first few steps.

Progesterone dose/ delivery questoon

So I've been on prog 300mg orally, daily.

From what I read, rectally is going to achieve better results, I won't see my doctor for a month now, if I swap, would it make most sense to drop to 100mg for a week and reassess?

I don't often feel feminine, but the hormones are starting to make a noticeable change to my moods and self image (10 months E, recently started progesterone),

I feel like i spent so long avoiding my difficult emotions, avoiding my self as a whole, that now I have to break all of that down every time I want to applaud myself for my progress, but it's worth it. I've yet to have any desire to stop or turn back. :)

All my support and care x

Hey folks,

Some relevant background maybe.

Autistic is suspected by several people in my healthcare and social circles, I refuse to pay 1700 aud to find out so I pretend like it isn't my issue. I have a bit of a tricky time making friends, socially awkward, afraid of overstepping and shy, so shy, you know.

I’m 29, trans femme, and planning to leave Australia mid-July for Athens.– I know not everywhere is as queer/trans-friendly as home, and that’s definitely in the back of my mind.

I’ve recently quit my job (qualified trade, strong mechanical/problem-solving skills), have *some* savings, and want to give long-term, low-budget travel a real shot. Think: hostel/campground living, street food + occasional drinks as my “splurge,” and keeping things flexible.

Current situation

Packing down my life – aiming for one small carry-on suitcase

Clothes: set for warm summer + cooler autumn, but unsure about Balkan temps later on

Budget for gear: ~€1000–1500 (but currently no tent, bedding, or cooking setup)

Experience: some farm work + “heavy” camping/festivals, but no real ultralight / carry-everything experience

Open to learning as I go (gear, systems, routines, etc.)

Plan

Start in Greece → move through Balkans → maybe Ireland later

Use Schengen 90 days, then non-Schengen (Balkans), rotate as needed

Keen on WWOOFing / farm work for cost relief + community

Interested in picking up seasonal work (fruit picking, etc.?) – not sure what that’s like in Europe vs. Australia

Want to learn a language, figure it’ll become obvious where I click

Headspace:

I’m kind of framing this as “learn how to take care of myself properly.” No job, no external responsibilities – just me getting good at meeting my own needs.

Concerns / questions:

Am I underestimating how cold / gear-intensive this will get?

Is €1–1.5k enough to get started and reliably set up from scratch?

How viable is casual work in Europe (esp. as a non-EU Aussie)?

Safety as a visibly queer/trans solo traveller in Balkans / rural areas?

Any major visa gotchas I’m glossing over?

Passport has ~20 months left – renew now or later?

Honestly just looking for blind spots, reality checks, or “I did something similar a here’s what mattered.”

Appreciate any thoughts!

Edit: thanks everyone, I'm done replying at the moment. this is hard work, big respect. I'll definitely read anything written!
