Two U.S. Forest Service employees were rescued with the help of negotiators after being zip-tied and held hostage for nearly 15 hours in Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Northern California, officials said Friday.

Forestry is a pretty small world, at least one of you briar/vine maple baboons has more information on this. I eagerly await the inside story.

Non-eye burning sunscreen

Robert mentioned running with sunscreen and it burning his eyes.

I also am sensitive to certain sunscreens that contain avobenzone, homosalate, and octisalate. If I get any in my eyes it ruins my whole ass day. These ingredients are in a lot of sunscreen skincare products.

I have found that mineral based sunscreens (titanium oxide or zinc oxide) don’t hurt my eyes when I am hiking and getting sweat in my eyes. My husband started using my sunscreen cuz he has the same issue, but not to the same degree I do. The titanium oxide based ones don’t leave you looking like an oily goth the way zinc oxide ones do.

Costco is stocking a good mineral based sunscreen, I think it is called blue salamander, or something like that. It has a blue salamander on the label. I’m not digging though my backpack to look at the label right now.

And yeah. I know I am a dork for posting about this, but I was yelling ‘get a mineral based sunscreen’ when he was talking about his burning eyes from his sunscreen.

What is your line for discharging a patient from your practice?

I had a patient which a history of mental health issues, yell at me because I couldn’t physically refill one of her medications at her clinic visit. They have refills on the med, they just need to get them from the pharmacy. Our clinic isn’t a pharmacy and we have never had samples. They had never received pills from us.

We don’t prescribe psych meds. It is a Coumadin clinic.

I filled out a ‘behavioural warning’ but they already had 2 and while preparing the chart I saw recent encounters about them cussing out staff at at another clinic, over the phone.

During the visit while they were yelling at me I opened the door exam room door, calmly asked them to stop yelling and said they were being inappropriate. They were still agitated and told me I clearly never had toddlers, which was …. A interesting comment to make.

I started the process to send them a 30 day dismissal letter, but I am second guessing myself.

I am thinking of having them sent a standard ‘ we don’t tolerate verbal abuse and any further abuse will result in a 30 day dismissal letter’ along with a letter to their PCP stating ‘hey, you need to see this patient cuz their behavior is about to get them dismissed’ or should I just see if we can dismiss them with a list of other providers.

Lucinda Williams is playing in Medford June 10th

At the Holly theatre and tickets are still available.

I have no affiliation with the venue. I didn’t even know till I happened to look at the website cuz I was bored.

I love her and I would hate for the theater to be half empty.
