Mobile games are just over complicated coin managers now.

Mobile games are just over complicated coin managers now.

Devs need to chill out with all these coins inside games. There was a time when we had 3, maybe 5 at most different in game "currencies". You had money, XP, and skill points in most games. Some RPGs included more complex systems but it all tied in nicely. Modern mobile games feel like a skin on top of a shitty coin manager.

You think it's a racing game? No its just a coin collection and management game, with cars that feel and drive the same.

A city management and building game? Nope. 20 in-game coins, you have to play according to the games rhythm, not when you have time. Login in 20 minutes to not miss out on this. Check in every 4 hours for X bonus, pay $1.99 now for a limited time deal.

Im at a point now where I download a game I find interesting, and I uninstall it the minute I'm in the game menu and I see more than 2 currencies. And before anyone tells me they have to make money somehow. I get that, include apps, include in game purchases, I have no issues with that. But at least try to keep the game fun and engaging instead of the brain rot they're pumping out these days.

Sometimes it's good to be patient

I think this was the one of the most critical things that stopped me from winning races in the past. I have the pace, and I'm always so eager to overtake that I end up in accidents. Sometimes it's my fault, other times it's the other drivers.

I was behind the blue miata for approximately 4 laps, I had the pace to overtake him but I was in P5 and I didn't want to risk binning it to gain a single position near the end of the race so I just cruised behind him until literally the last corner of the last lap.

How to properly setup the AI?

After +500 hours on the OG Assetto Corsa, I finally gave up on the idea that I'll ever be competitive online. I have a shitty PC, entry level gear, and I live far from the city so my ping is astronomical and I can't play online without ruining others' race. I also don't have nearly enough time to practice and gitgud as they say.. So I'm either in split 2 / 3 with bad drivers, or dead last in split 1.

I've seen a lot of positive things about AMS 2's AI and I decided to give it a try and my first impression was HOLY SHIT its actually pretty fun to drive against. They react, they're not glued to the racing line, and they make mistakes which adds flavor to any race. The driving model is slightly different and I get the floaty feel everyone is talking about, but overall I'm loving it!!

I'm a huge fan of DTMs and I've been setting up Nords races with AI cars on Nords but after 20 hours, I just find that they're inconsistent. I started with 90, Max aggression, max mistakes. I'm significantly faster than them. Raised into 100, it feels more competitive, but on some corners they're so damn slow, then on the straight right after it they peel off magically no matter what I do. Since Nords is a narrow track, I'm either stuck on a train, or i overtake then and just drive away, until the straight and I get smoked again. Its the same for AI, they just end up in tight groups of 3 - 4 cars after a couple of laps it improves but overall it's just a train of cars and they all slow down and speed up in the same odd way.

Any tips for this? I've read that the AI is very hit or miss depending on the car and track combo. I would love your input and any tips!

Passenger VR mode

I want to have someone be my "passenger" and I drive with the flat screen while they get a passenger perspective from the VR headset. Is there a mod or way to achieve this?

Brothers, lately I feel more and more isolated. Life pressure and stress has me isolated, without close friends. As a married man that spent years "grinding" for financial stability, and pushing through life stress I found myself without friends or anyone to share the struggle with. My wife is a wonderful person and has always been there, but I need me some masculine energy... Just bros being bros!

I'm sure I'm not the only one. A lot of us are out here married, working hard, handling our business... but quietly missing that crew of solid guys to talk to, vent with, laugh with, and push each other to be better.

I want to start a small, close-knit community for the bois, it doesnt matter what your age is, or where youre from, or what your struggles are, if youre a man that is looking to connect with other good men, then you're welcome!

Now, I dont have a solid definition of what "it" is, and im hoping we can define it together as it grows. But I know what I dont want "it" to be...

It is not a place to hate on women. My wife is wonderful and I know many of you have great partners too. this is about lifting up men, not tearing anyone else down.

It is not a political echo chamber or debate club.

It is not another massive 1000+ member community that turns into noise and toxicity. I want to keep this tight, high-quality, and real. Quality over quantity.

If this connects with you, comment or send me a DM and lets work it out from there!

Brothers and sisters, recently I see a lot of comments suggesting people go buy an electric car to "save money". I did some math and that simply does not work.

(This is mainly for people that already own a paid off internal combustion vehicle, if you dont own one and buying new, do your own math).

Let's do some math:

  1. Assumptions:

a. For simplicity, diesel and petrol are both priced at 16dh.

b. Your owned car is valued at 100,000 MAD

c. You drive more or less 1500 km / month. 18,000KM / year

d. Consumption / efficiency: 7l / 100km (very exaggerated and terrible but bear with me)

e. You decide to buy the cheapest electric car (i dont count the small 2 seater renault ami, im talking aboht Dacia spring or equivalent, priced at 210,000 MAD.

Math time:

Internal combustion:

1500 x 7 / 100 = 105 Liters / month.

105 x 16 = 1680 dh / month. Or, 20,160 dh / year.

+ oil changes, 500 dh every 10,000km (usually 15k, but again, bear with me...) we have 2 changes per year, another 1000dh. Add another 1000dh for filters, and various consumables. Total yearly comes at roughly 22,160 dh / year. More or less!

Electric:

15 kWh / 100 km (typical / generous estimate)

Monthly electricity:

1,500 × 15 /100 = 225 kWh.

Assuming a price of 1.2 dh / kwh

1.2 x 225 = 270 dh. Sounds great right? You save 1400dh / month? Too good to be true! Additionally, EVs don't require oil change, and the batteries are generally good for 5-8 years in most cases. So yearly you pay 3240 dh / year.

Savings: 22160 - 3240 = 18,920 dh / year.

Now, you sell your existing ICE car at 100,000 MAD,

So, 210,000 - 100,000 MAD = 110,000 MAD.

So, you need to liquidate an asset you already own, at a probably unfavorable price due to reduced demand, add another 110,000 MAD (cheapest option)

Also, assuming petrol and diesel prices do not normalize after the war is over, and electricity stays the same (highly unlikely because guess what...? Electric is related to oil price) you will get a net value return after...

110,000 / 18,920: 5 years, 9 months and 25 days~. And guess what, by that time, the batteries of your car are probably fried and working at half capacity so you lose a lot of efficiency and need to replace them. Price will probably vary un 5 years, but keep that in mind.

Final notes:

  1. This is purely based on economic price / km. If things like luxury, fancy new features, or other factors natter to you then ignore this post and do your own math.

  2. Feel free to adjust my math to your situation (the price of your existing car, how many KMs you drive / month, and the price of the car you intend to buy).

  3. If youre buying new, and your options are (internal combustion or electric and the price difference is not large, its always cheaper to buy electric or HEV).

  4. 7l/100kms is quite exaggerated for most modern cars, in reality youre looking at 5.5-6 (my car, with my driving gets 5.2l / 100kms)

  5. If you drive more kilometers or less kilometers, the math is completely different. Adjust to your situation.

Conclusion:

Don't go burning money thinking youll save money. Do some math, be real with your self, and dont fall for consumerism traps.
