Due to the lack of Blinkist integration, I have manually sent all the Blinks I am interested in to Kindle and started highlighting them. I thought this would allow them to show up in Readwise, but I am not seeing them. How can I get Readwise to recognize them?
What kind of cookies do you reckon Jim kept hidden in that cookie jar alongside his gun?
Vic: "Time passing over a radiator" (giant novelty mask, beehive, erratic dancing).
Bob: "An envelope passing over Dennis Potter's bread bin" (giant mask, waving white knickers).
What’s your favorite Big Night Out moment?
Happy Breakaway Day — the solemn anniversary on which we honour the courage of the men and women of Moonbase Alpha.
On September 13th, 1999, a cataclysmic blast tore the Moon from Earth’s embrace, hurling them into the uncharted depths of space. Cut off from home, they faced the void with resolve, carrying humanity’s hope into the stars. 🚀🌕💫
There’s a frame in the Born Survivor clip where Bear Grylls gets stung and his expression shifts from rugged survivalist to “Benedict Cumberbatch solving a murder in rural Dartmoor.” It’s the closest nature has come to casting its own Sherlock reboot.
If you grew up with Metro Radio, you definitely remember Mr Rahman — the zip‑fixing legend of Westgate Road.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is Mr Rahman speaking. Please listen.”
One pound zips. Top coat to bikini. Iconic.
His ads were so simple they basically became folklore.
Anyone else get theirs fixed there?
Mr Claypole's hollow laugh still haunts me. What were your favourite memories of this great series? 👻
Four kids on their trikes with the massive Esso Northumbria under construction at Swan Hunter rising behind them.
Classic Tyneside scene from when the yard still dominated the town.
Anyone remember living near the shipyard when the big tankers were being built?
Growing up in Britain in the 1970s and 80s, there was a strange little phenomenon that most kids of the time will remember. You’d be out exploring the local woods, cutting through a field, or poking around a hedgerow, and there — tucked under a branch or half‑buried in the grass — you’d find an adult magazine.
Was anyone else an avid "hedge porn" collector?
Prices start at around £19,950 for one that doesn't look anything like this. Price does not include seats, wheels or major engine components. Prices, specIfications or else in this advert may be changed wlthout notice, and probably has been already.
That sausage in the opening titles immediately makes me think of the theme tune and Tucker.
What are your memories of Grange Hill?
That quick shot in the opening credits of Rockford loading up frozen dinners might be the most “Jim Rockford” moment ever. No glamour, no detective swagger — just a guy doing his grocery run and trying to get by. It sets the tone for the whole show in a single, perfect beat.
What’s your favourite moment from the credits?
Anyone else remember Handyside Arcade before it was demolished on this day in ’87? I walked through it so many times as a kid — the glass roof, the indie shops, the slightly scruffy charm of the place. Seeing old photos of it now always makes me nostalgic.
Would love to hear other people’s memories of the arcade — favourite shops, stories, things you miss about it.
Lately I’ve been thinking about how much old TV shaped the rhythm of growing up — It’s wild how a single character, theme tune, or presenter can pull you straight back into being eight years old on the living‑room carpet.
Who defined your TV childhood? Was it a face, a voice, a show, or just a moment that stuck?
It's still so sad that our amazing Mayfair closed and got torn down on this day back in '99. What are your memories of the last night, or just of the best rock club the UK ever had?
Saw this absolute belter today — Scott Dobson’s Larn Yersel’ Geordie with George House and Mike Neville front and centre. Proper slice of North East culture.
Anyone else remember this?
Tom Selleck’s Lance White Rockford Files episodes always feel like a stealth Rockford/Magnum crossover — the impossibly lucky, sunshine‑powered PI dropped straight into Rockford’s gritty world, driving Jim absolutely mad with his cosmic good fortune.
It’s basically Magnum in prototype form wandering into Rockford’s universe and accidentally stealing the spotlight.
Which version of Selleck do you relate to more? The hyper‑competent Lance White or the more grounded Thomas Magnum?
Anyone remember these?
A 1970s disability car — one of those wonderfully distinctive little vehicles that were once a familiar sight on British roads.
It looks almost comically tiny by today’s standards, but these cars gave disabled people a level of independence that simply wasn’t available otherwise.
Did anyone here actually drive or ride in one?
