really gross, but…
recently, I went to the hospital after eight months of irregular heavy menstrual bleeding. I bled so much that I developed severe anemia. my hemoglobin was a three when I went into the doctors, and they were all just astounded that I was alive, but I'm sure that is due to the fact that I was practically bedridden, so I wasn't moving much at all because if I went any further than the front door, I was absolutely going to pass out. anyway, I received about four transfusions of blood. they managed to get me up to a seven, which is still critically low, but obviously better than what I was at when I came in. when I left, I did feel full of life again. they got me started on some medication. I was supposed to take iron pills every two days, and some pill called medroxyprogesterone (provera) every day which completely stopped the bleeding. now I have been taking it consistently, but I do think about five days to almost a week ago I missed a dose because I just had a really busy day. after that, I started spotting, then the blood got darker and then it got heavier. I am now on day five of the bleeding and I am soaking through the highest absorbency tampon every three hours. I am not sure what I should do at this point if I need to go back to the ER or if I just need to give the medication more time ?? really gross, but attached is a photo of what I’m passing every three hours
