heatwave, how do we handle?

With outdoor temps reaching 105F/40C, what are your tips? Idea is to not make it even more difficult for our A/Cs, and has the nice corollary of being easy on the power grid at a time of stress.

I personally turned off the Threadripper machines entirely, put the AM5 CPU in low power mode, and set some zpools offline and had the spinners idle.

[PC] 8x WD GOLD 20TB WD203KRYZ and 4x WD SN850X 4TB

[PC] for Price Check. I don't know what's the current market price for these.

Spinners are between 6 months and 2 months old, been powered on maybe half that on average, and have (so far) been used only as a backup to receive ZFS snapshots (ie no aggressive power on/off or even activity besides those writes)

SSDs about same age on average, have seen very little writes

Reason: moving to U.2

ASUS WRX90 fans going to 100% until BMC reset

I had it happen a month or two ago, and again today.

Symptom is my fans go to 100% even though CPU and GPU temps are mild (say machine at idle).

I have to do ipmitool mc reset cold and things come back to normal after a couple minutes when the BMC has restarted. My understanding is it could be due to a sensor not being captured by the BMC anymore, triggering a panic 100%.

Anybody encountered similar issues? How did you solve it?

[PC] Threadripper 9970X + Asus TRX50 WIFI SAGE A + 128 GB Kingston Fury DDR5 ECC 5600

I'm the original owner, and the kit has been sitting unused for a couple months now.

Reason for sale: I'm moving on to Threadripper Pro.

Looking to sell at fair market price given I'm buying even more RAM for the TR Pro.

I have the Asus WRX90 with a 9985wx. 2 GPUs, 12 NVMEs, 4 SATA SSDs and 12 HDDs. One more GPU on the way. While the components are not all at peak usage simultaneously, I'm debating using a second identical 1600W PSU (case allows for it). In North America.

Has anybody done it? Anything to watch out for?
