Private Equity Purchasing Lake Michigan?

Is this possible? Can we sell Lake Michigan to private equity to help fill the local/state budget issues? Seems like a win-win. PE takes control of an asset and streamlines it for efficiencies, Chicago/IL get huge amounts of money.

I Don't Understand the Market

I don't get it. All I ever hear on the news is how people are fleeing to "greener pastures". How in the world is local real estate so expensive, and in general, much older than "hotter markets"? You always hear how people are fleeing to places with low-taxes and more highways lol. Dallas, Houston, anywhere in Florida, Arizona, etc. OK, noted, so then how the **** we charging so much for homes up here? Who is moving in?? And yes, indeed, I did some googling. You can get a super nice/spacious new-build about 1.5 hours outside of downtown Dallas in the mid 700s. Can we blame the flee-ers?

Gas Price Relief Via Transit

This cost of gas is really burning holes in the wallet. We gotta look for clever ways to get some relief, whether its seeking that from elected officials or whoever. Has anyone put serious thought into using the recent CTA funding (something about getting billions in aid from JB Pritzker clever bait-and-switch tactic...) to subsidize IL gas costs? Like....stop funding the CTA as much so we can catch a break at the pump??

I don't get it - it's like a platypus - makes no sense. All I hear is that you cannot cannot use Chicago Public Schools. It's apparently a pipeline to prison or teen pregnancy. OK - noted - but then why are many many many single family homes so preposterously expensive? Surely some prospective buyers intend to use Chicago Public Schools (?) Maybe? Isn't home value somewhat tied to quality of local schools? As example, I knew a family who had used private school for K-8. Their kid tested into Walter Payton HS but they refused to send them there simply because it was CPS. Have since moved out of Chicago, if I recall.
