Interpretation of Venezuelan harp music

I have a question about interpretation of Venezuelan harp music.

My student is learning El Negrito by Lauro, A. For his performance exam. He asked me, which notes are the melody?
I struggled to answer as my interpretation I wasn’t sure of. I thought that the broken chords of harmony sometimes have melody notes that are played forte whist the purely harmonic notes are played mezzo forte. In this sense it is very reliant on the cultural origin of the music where it is played loudly for community dance and that part of its beauty (seems to my ear) is the confusion created between the harmony and melody; it’s like the shimmering light on flowers dancing in the wind.
In the Williams performance attached, the melody is very hard to spot in section A, in section B it is both written and performed much more clearly but at the end of B section Williams plays a clear cadentially harmonised melody that transfers into a broken tonic chord; this makes me think that I am on the right path when suggesting to my student that: “the beauty is found within the confusion of what is melody and what is harmony and, that this is a feature I have heard within traditional Venezuelan harp music as this gives the impression of fractured light bouncing off different petals of tropical flowers.”
I’m hoping somebody with experience in traditional music may answer this for me too…?
As a very side question, do you think Williams’ performance and interpretation of Venezuelan music changed between these early recordings and his album of said music in the 2000s? Not allowing the change of guitar to misinterpret such changes…?

Radio for my tube amp?

Hi,
I have a 12 watt hand made tube amp and I find myself wanting a dedicated radio that can go either into to it directly via its RCA or that can go indirectly via optical or AESBU or line level insert through my Tascam UH-7000 preamp to my tube amp. Should I consider a modern emergency radio like a top of the line Sangean, or a pro audio radio (Tascam rack mount unit), or a vintage radio like an old technics or something? I mainly listen to classical fm in Australia on band 107.3FM. Shared thoughts are all welcome.

Correct name for subsequent measure repeat? ‘%’

Does anybody know the original name for the “percentage sign” repeat, I have found that it is called in modern times ‘Repeat bar’ which although common, does not make sense because a bar is a vertical line that divides the actual measure. I have also seen it called ‘simile’ or ‘simile repeat’ but I’m not sure how correct that is either as simile as a word is also used to denote copying the technical fingering or expressive elements of the previous measures; is there an original German or Italian term?

In body stabilisation is so good when you forget your tripod. I could still hand hold this shot at something like 10th of a second. It’s not perfect but it is awesome

Anyone else having trouble with moose mobile not processing phone contract and failing to answer emails and phone calls?

Anyone else having trouble with moose mobile not processing phone contract and failing to answer emails and phone calls?

I’ve called nearly 10 times this past week and a had, been on hold for at least 6 hours, emailed twice, not a single human response, just sitting there on hold. They hung up on me tonight when the clock ticked over past time. I’d been on hold for an hour. I’m sick of it! I even tried calling first thing in the morning and stayed on hold for an hour.

Oh happy day!

Recent trip to Japan, scored this pristine shelf model of the Voigtlander 42.5mm f0.95, not a scratch on it and not a spec of dust inside. Got it for $69800 yen! It looks fantastic next to my 17.5mm and 29mm. I want the 60mm next!

Help with 104 face not aligned

Hi, my 104 just got serviced and the face is out of rotation about 4 degrees Port. I have heard that there is an adjustable spring inside that could have caused this rotation, does anybody know where it is? Is it the big fat flathead screw that is connected to the mechanism and the body?

Should biometric data require consent to collect?

Source: SBS

>Do you feel like you're always being watched while you're shopping? Well, you probably are. Five years after Bunnings stopped using facial recognition in their stores, a recent legal win has them planning to bring it back.

>"We don't have confirmed timelines at this stage; however we look forward to working with government, industry and the union to roll this out as quickly as possible," a Bunnings spokesperson told SBS. Digital rights advocates are concerned the move will support the growth of facial recognition technology in Australia, despite a lacking privacy legislation framework.

Bunnings decision may open door to facial recognition surveillance free‑for‑all

>A seemingly minor decision handed down last week by the Administrative Review Tribunal may open the door to widespread use of facial recognition technology in shops and other privately owned spaces in Australia. Australia’s privacy act protects personal sensitive information, including facial information. It states that such information can be collected only with consent of an individual.

>If the decision is not appealed to the Federal Court, we may see a future in which retailers and other organisations can use biometric technologies on members of the public without consent. All they will need to justify their actions is a risk-management narrative based on personal statements.

>The ruling lowers the threshold for more surveillance. If non-consensual biometric processing is accepted in retail, the same logic can apply to workplaces, schools and other public but privately owned spaces. Each expansion can be justified using the same language of safety, deterrence or necessity.

Advice about running an ereader as a daily driver using phone and hotspot?

I have been using an Ipad mini 6 for 2 years as a phone and as a portable computer (mainly emails, reading and file sharing). I am interested in switching over to using an reader for most of the computer ~ email, reading, file sharing tasks whilst a small light phone like an iPhone mini 13 or a cheap android could do calls, text, payments etc... How practical do you think this will be, given that I am already used to carrying around an Ipad mini? I got this idea because as above mentioned and I have already been using my BOOX note Max as a professional reader and I am a convert! I love it!
I was thinking the Boox Go 7 might be best...
If only there was a Palma 2 Super Pro with full phone function 😍

First Big Gig for the Boox Note Max!

Was a really great show, the note max performed wonderfully and I had a lot of positive feedback about my music. So glad that I switched to an ereader for my music.
I still keep all of the original books of course but this is so convenient and I can mark the score without graffiti on the original. Amazing!

I used my Peak musical stand as a basis for a magnetic attractive steel tray with foam cushioning to hold my note max (self built).
