Echo Spot: Temperature doesn’t always show on screen

Sometimes, I look at the screen to see that the temperature is missing from the weather/time on screen (first photo). Usually, I just leave it alone and it starts showing it on its own after some time has passed.

But if I actually ask Alexa for the temperature, it automatically displays the temperature after it answers me (second photo). At the same time, it also went from a sunny icon to a cloudy one.

This gives me the impression that the device is maybe being lazy? It’s clearly capable of displaying the temperature and accurate weather, but it needs to be forced to fetch the online data or something?

Buying a Blu-ray player in 2026...

I’m mainly a video game collector, but lately I’ve been getting the urge to start collecting Blu-rays of my "essentials" when it comes to movies and shows.

If I’m going to buy a Blu-ray player, I’d rather get one that supports 4K Ultra HD. My main concern is whether Blu-ray is a dying format or not. Players seem harder to find, and I keep hearing rumours that fewer new movies will be released physically in the coming years.

I know nobody can predict the future, but I’d love to hear your thoughts: is now still a reasonable time to jump in?

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book: I’m addicted to organizing entries

As an OCDer, I love reordering the entries for each creature in a way that feels chronological, as if it were an actual storybook or kids’ encyclopaedia. It’s eating up a lot of my time lol. Even the number of entries per page, where the full-pagers belong, etc. Anyone else?

Subwoofer shows as connected, but isn’t.

I’ve had the LG SP8YA soundbar and the original LG SPN8 wireless subwoofer it came with, for a couple years now. The soundbar works normally, but the subwoofer doesn’t work at all, it seems.

I recently noticed that the subwoofer hasn’t been producing any sound for a while, and the LG Soundbar app isn’t detecting a subwoofer—it’s clearly not connected for some reason.

The strangest thing is that the subwoofer’s Pairing light is solid green at all times when it’s plugged in. Whether I push/hold the Pairing button on the subwoofer, I unplug or reset the soundbar; I’ve even taken the soundbar to a friend’s house 15 miles away from me, it always has a solid green light.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate it. This must be one of those “this would only happen to me” situations!
