TL;DR will replacing the rear side 5% windows with 20% increase rear 5% windshield visibility at night?

Car unfortunately came with dealer-installed (non-ceramic) 5% on rear side windows and rear windshield. I had another shop install 20% ceramic XPEL on front 2.

I can really tell that the rear 3 are non-ceramic cause my car still COOKS on hot days.

Replacing my rear two side windows for ceramic (and adding 70% on the front windshield). Leaving the 5% non-ceramic on the rear windshield cause I don't want to ruin the rear defrosters - even though I don't like the 5% at all.

Deciding between 5% for the rear side windows for the uniformity of the rear or 20% to match the front.

Will replacing the rear side 5% windows with 20% make a noticeable increase in 5% rear windshield visibility at night? Or is it negligible enough that I should just keep them 5%?

Bonus: should I just overlay the rear 5% side windows with 70% ceramic instead lol?

Is there seriously no way to enable (all bands) Quiet Ride anymore?

Looks like QR now only works on X and K bands?

If I’m going less than 25mph, I honestly don’t care about any radars and it’s a PITA to always having to silence Ka bands since I live fairly close to freeways.

Anyone else think these Google profiles for the TV are absolutely useless?

Bought my parents a B7 and added all our Google accounts to the TV.

But not sure what the point when all of our recommendations are inter-mixing.

My dad will watch some stuff on YouTube on his profile but when I log onto the TV, I get HIS channel recommendations on my account.

Same goes for logging onto any streaming app. I wish there was a way to set the default profile for each app for each user ie when Mom is signed into the Google profile for the TV, when opening up Netflix, her Netflix profile is the default (for that Google Profile).

I really like my A329S but there are such simple fixes that I feel could make it such a better dash cam in terms of usability. I have so many false alerts that the parking mode feature is borderline useless unless I physically inspect my car to find damage to reference dashcam footage (which I don’t).

- Addition of Parking Mode Impact Detection seems useful but the lack of filtering makes it almost useless as it triggers a false alert every time getting in/out of the car.
- Fix: give the option to set a delay > (mute the alert) > discard the event if the car is started within 2 minutes > alert the user if not
- Example 1: Driver gets in car > triggers “impact” detection > driver starts car > “impact” is discarded > driver is never notified
- Example 2: Car is bumped in parking lot > triggers impact detection > (car is not started within 2 minutes) > impact is saved > driver is alerted
- A phone alert would also be nice with the date/time of last impact detection so the driver knows which event to scroll to: “Impact detected at 3:30pm” with ability to jump directly to footage
- OR an option on the dashcam screen when starting the car to automatically “jump” to the footage
- Direct list of “impacts” in VIOFO App detected since last time starting the car. Resets every time a car is turned off or a highlight of “new” impacts in the list (like an email inbox).

Will submit to VIOFO as a feature request but was wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on the usability of parking mode is so far?

TL;DR How would I replace the "toggle switch" from the first picture with the wireless switch module in the second picture?

Background: I'm not entirely new to electronics but I have a VERY hobby-level basic understanding for simple home and car projects.

Long story short: On a remote work contract (away from home) for the next couple months. Car got stolen. Got a new car. Self-installing my own drop-in starter relay kill switch. I don't have my usual tools to get the hardwired switch through the car firewall (ie grommets, fishing wire etc.)

My plan is to convert the hardwired switch to a wireless switch by replacing the momentary switch with a $20 wireless switch from Amazon for now.

Issue: The physical switch is literally just a toggle switch that completes the circuit (I'm guessing) in the starter relay. The wireless switch from Amazon is a dual pole in/out switch (has an IN + / - terminals and an OUT + / - terminals, see pic). How should I wire this to replace the toggle switch?

The wireless switch is a "Normally Closed" switch per the product page.

TL;DR does 5% Global hi-tech non-ceramic film actually have any decent heat rejection properties?

Got a new car recently, dealer pre-installed tint on the rear 3 which I was initially happy about but also skeptical about (since dealerships are in the market for markup). I used to have 20% Llumar IR on my last car.

Did a pretty decent job except for scuffing my trunk trim a little. Left small scraps in the car. Ended up getting a hold of their installer and he, unfortunately, told me that it was a 5% non-ceramic (not a fan of the VLT or the non-ceramic).

I asked him what film he used and he said it was a Global film and he assured me it’s a high-quality NON-ceramic and tried to convince me “limo tint” is the best for luxury/privacy look etc etc and told me that it still has very good heat rejection for a non-ceramic film.

Anyway, is this film worth keeping on? Does this actually have any anti-IR or heat rejection properties?

I don’t like the idea of spending more to have it all un-installed just to re-install a 15-20% XPEL nano.

I ended up getting 20% XPEL nano-ceramic put onto the front two from a reliable dedicated tint shop but now I’m thinking of going back and just putting 70% on the front windshield to make up for the lack of ceramic in the rear 3.

Just a funny story: I’m on assignment and I had to buy a car mid-contract last week.

During the negotiations over the phone, I told the car salesman that I “travel for work” strictly to use as leverage and that’s all I told him.

I drove up to the dealership to complete the sale. During the paperwork/credit check process, it asked for my address, my current employer, and my monthly gross income etc.

As I’m writing down my income, he looks across his desk at the number and immediately goes “Are you a traveling nurse?“

I laughed and brushed it off to not allow him to use it to sell me any add-ons.

It’s nothing new but just interesting to see that this notion that travelers are still making COVID money is still the baseline for us. It was just funny since this was the first time someone has reverse-inferred it from income and the hint that I “travel for work”.
