Driving to Work Tunes

Driving to Work Tunes

Live at the Broad features the band at their creative and improvisational live peak in my opinion.

Every performance is tight while keeping that loose improv kraut-rock infused style that they’ve experimented with on albums such as Face Stabber and Panther Rotate.

Every track features its own unique sound with a hard rocking monstrous 22+ min jam of “I Got A Lot” and a spaced out synth drenched opener of “Don’t Blow Your Experiment”.

This show is an excellent snapshot of the band that displays just how versatile they can be.

Video Downloads

Anyone know of high quality download sources for the YouTube video remastered series of Jethro Tull live footage. I’m looking for concerts like the BBC broadcast “Sight and Sound in Concert 1977”. Any help is appreciated.

Red Torrent Bars While Seeding

Hi all,

Forgive me if this is a basic question but I can’t seem to find an answer anywhere. So I’m using qbitt to acquire and seed torrents from the dimeadozen bittorent tracker. I’ve got my setup bound to a split tunnel using PIA VPN.

All 4 torrents have successfully downloaded and the content has been verified. Now each of them is seeding and is listed as “working” under the status section. I successfully uploaded a whole 5mb overnight so I know I can successfully connect and share data with at least some peers albeit very slowly (only like 2-3 leeches for 150+ seeders).

Now my question is why are these torrent title bars red as shown in the picture? My connection has green status and the progress bars for each are orange and listed as idle so that checks out. The IP returned from an IP test shows my VPN IP so that’s been properly linked. I’ve looked all over and can’t see any indication for this red coloration.

Any help is appreciated thanks!

I like The Golden Casket

I’m going to see Isaac and company rock the riverside theater in Milwaukee in August. I’ve always been a big fan of their Long Drive - We were dead run of work but never gave the three modern albums much attention (I know the latest one is less than a month old). Now I figured I needed to do a full discography marathon before the show and figured I’d work in reverse.

I adore the new album as it seems to be a good bridge between earlier and later material. The opener rips with one of the catchiest choruses of a MM song. Other tracks like Dogbed and Look How Far… feel like homages to albums like Good News and The Moon.

Then I reached The Golden Casket and went in with poor expectations due to its reception in the community over all. However I really like it so far. No doubt it’s way more poppy than previous works but you can tell that this is the exact record that the group wanted to make at the time. Nothing feels forced and the synth pop elements with heavy reverb infused chanting vocal passages remind me of an MGMT or Empire of the Sun record.

I’m not in love with everything here and I feel like Fuck Your Acid Trip is the weakest opener of the discography but the work as a whole is far from “bad” in my opinion. Anyone else echo this sentiment?

Awesome Bootleg Finds

So stoked to own these awesome pieces of prog rock history. Was down at my local shop sifting through the new arrivals bin and stumbled upon these two gems. Guy wanted $30 for the two and I said why not?

The purple one is a live cut from Baltimore, MD and Norfolk, VA. Early pressing on the Contra Band Music label. The Baltimore show sounds super washed out and soft but the Norfolk show actually has some bite to it (for as well as a 1973 boot can sound).

Now the crown jewel of the find was this Jethro Tull in “A Passion Play” Forum ‘73 pressing from the legendary Trademark of Quality label on red vinyl. I did have to censor the cover art done by William G Stout as it’s quite… revealing. This pressing sounds remarkable for an audience recording and captures Tull at their most elaborate. It features a full rendition of A Passion Play, a good chunk of Thick as a Brick along with other cuts from Aqualung.

Curiously both discs feature shows that have the unreleased track known as “A Bomb in the Dressing Room” which was a working title for the song “No Rehearsal” featured on their legendary 1972 sessions at Château d'Hérouville in Paris.

These two will sit nicely along side my other Tull boots “Flute Cake” and “My God”.

What is y’all’s favorite non-metal album metal song?

Personally I love Great Chain and KGLW with both Omnium tracks Predator X and Gaia being my least favorite offerings. What do yall say?

Edit: I truly mean the studio recordings here live is a whole other story. I also totally glazed over MOTU when I thought of this. Digital Black and Vomit coffin are right up there with my top picks IMO. (Also thanks for the reply all love to yall 🐊)

Ceaser Remastered Source?

Hey all, been searching around for a while and I cant seem to find a source for the Wav files of the remastered Ceaser demos. If anyone has a place to get them or at least the highest possible quality source for the demos that would be awesome. Thanks!

Boss DD-8 For this Setup?

Hey guys, I’m not a guitar player myself but my father in law is and I’d like to get him a little something for Father’s Day coming up.

He’s just recently gotten into pedal boards and this his early set up. He’s primarily plays a lot of acoustic on his Martin X-Series with E1 pickups and some electric on what looks like a Strat style with hum bucker pick ups.

Now I’m wondering if adding a decent delay pedal with some diverse FX options like the Boss DD-8 would complement his setup nicely.

Again I'm a total noob so ignore something in my description if it sounds stupid and thanks in advance for any and all advice I appreciate it!
