Loan Disbursement

UPDATE 2***: it looks as if full time student loans have been disbursed! If you’re part time you still need an emergency deferment plan to not lose your classes.
UPDATE: she said it could be sometime next week and they don’t really have an exact date when so to just keep an eye on it, and if you currently have a balance it would be smart to do an emergency deferment plan.
Have any of yalls loans been disbursed yet 🫩 they said later this week but I am nervous about being dropped from classes. Just wondering if anybody else’s have been yet because if so I’d need to call.

Overdraft Fee Waiver

Is there any way to get more than one overdraft fee waived in a calendar year? I got one in November, and so the lady today said she couldn’t help me. Personally I think that’s bullshit, and I really regret switching from Chase to WF at this point. I very rarely overdraft so it annoys me more.

What are yalls light bills this month

I have a 2500 sq foot home. There’s some leaks in the ducts, and two vents need to be added to the roof. End of June we added more insulation. Our bill is $600+, the AC never seems to shut off. How much are you all paying and what efforts do you use to save electricity? I’m hoping after this work is done it’ll go down significantly.

To keep or replace water heater

This dumb sumnabitch(I need you guys to feel my pain)sprung a leak in the hot water pipe for the second time since 2018. My family has a gas water heater, and when I was trying to turn the cold water off to the tank the flame suddenly got bigger(like, from being a decently small flame as we have the temp set lower to blue flames with orange tips taking up the whole lower space), which freaked me out. The tank started making gurgling and banging noises, so I just shut it off. Upon looking at the yellow sticker tag and state inspection stickers, the heater is from 1991. Is it safe to reheat? Or should I just struggle with cold water for a few weeks while I save up to get a new one? I’ve never heard it make that noise before, and I’m in and out of the attic quite frequently.

Missing a box vent?

We got the roof redone last year in January. Last summer and this summer upstairs has gotten unbearably hot, and so I got more insulation sprayed in. Still super hot, Google says hey maybe you don’t have proper ventilation. I go into the attic and one box vent is there and visible, the other looks like they started the process and forgot about it. I’m not crazy right? Also how many of these do I realistically need for a 1200sq foot attic?

Any cost effective DIY remedies?

I am what I’d call intermediate level at handwork. I went up into the attic because the ac hasn’t been blowing as strong and saw this. It feels like it was originally connected with plaster or something and over time tore apart? Unit is only 3 years old, probably poorly installed. Asking for advice that isn’t super expensive because I am a college student just trying to help my family, my parent died recently so we can’t afford super high bills right now. I taped over it with metal tape(the kind that feels like foil) for now which helped it blow stronger through the vents but I know that’s not the right way to do it. Also I know the drain pan needs to be cleaned out I just didn’t have my shop vac. And it’s so dusty because we just got new insulation too.

Almost 30 and I still haven’t lived

Food: roti skin 🤤

I spent most of my life in a neglectful family that made me grow up too quick, so I never really got to experiment or live my life. I wanted to be a musician, but never could do anything with that because I was guilted by my family to take care of everyone. I’ve never been on a date, haven’t had a boyfriend or kissed anyone since high school. I don’t know how to start living? I want to date and fall in love and even just have sex but I am just too scared to be awkward. I have so many passions and I’ve never done anything with any of them because my family has never allowed me to put myself first. I’ve never been to a bar, never been to a party, the longest I’ve been away from home was 72 hours and they kept calling me the entire time. Like I don’t even know where to start. Even now, I talk about moving out and my daily asks who will take care of them? But living outside of your parent’s home is part of experiencing life, no? I feel like I’m stuck and don’t know where to begin with the whole living thing. Any advice welcome, especially maybe from any late bloomers? It almost feels too late.
