So on another community I asked if my cat is fat. I got an overwhelming amount of comments saying he is fat indeed.

He is a neutered male cat. 6 years old. 22in long excluding the tail. Ribs are not visible, but easily palpable. I can see a waistline when he's standing unless im biased on that

He has an automatic feeder that feeds him 4 times a day. Each portion is 7g. I weighted each portion yesterday as it got dispensed to verify. The food brand is Nulo Hairball Manegement which is about 94 calories for 27g if i did my math right. He used to get 5 portions, so 35 g previously but I cut it down to 4

He gets half a can of Weruva wet food. Each can is between 54 to 66 calories per 3 Oz depending on the flavor. He only gets half. He also gets temptation treats with his wet food. About 5 treats.

In the evening, not every day, I'll give him another 10 treats hidden in a puzzle toy

If I'm doing my math right, he's getting 140-160 calories a day.

3/4 automatic feeding portions, I supervise him and his sister to make sure he does not steal her food. Even if he steals the portion I do not supervise, it would change much on his calorie intake

He'll occasionally get 5 black beans whenever i make beans at home and 1/3 slice of turkey deli meat which is not very often.

When i do the feeding calculator, it says his recommended intake should be 277-231 calories. Based on that number, it seems I'm actually underfeeding him?

I already scheduled a vet appt for next month. But i was going to try to reduce his food intake by 10% before then, but now I think i shouldn't. Perhaps I just need to play with him even more? Or should I actually increase his food?

Saundra Skirt and Ruby Vest

I made another ruby vest, this time with pockets decorated with applique flowers from scrap fabric! I also shortened the shoulder straps to prevent armhole gaping, a common issue for me with this pattern. I even learned to use the button stitch on my sewing machine! I used cotton poplin and two pillowcases for the lining, but I didn't quilt the vest.

The skirt is made from a cotton fabric I got in Japan, with cotton poplin godets. I think this is one of my favorite things I've sewn so far!

Patterns are both by Sydney Graham

Is my cat fat or just a big boy?

I feed him the same as my other cat and she's so light and not as big. I even watch them eat to make sure he doesn't steal her food.

ETA: I see the verdict is indeed he is fat. I kept telling myself he's just a big cat because my other cat eats the same and still pretty small. I will get him to the vet and on a diet ASAP. I will begin by weighting him and using a food calculator for cats.

He can reach all body parts when cleaning himself. He has not difficulties moving, running or jumping. He also poops multiple times a day.

ETA2: I didn't expect this many people roasting my boi. I posted in the comments other photos of him from a side standing view and above. I can touch his rib bone just fine

The plushie is from Fatty Zoo Cats. I got it in japan but idk where to get it online for those that have been asking

Today's page

I never know how to use my acrylics. Today I tried covering the black lines with them, but i dont think I did a very good job. I do however love the background!

Another Ophelia dress

I think this is my 3rd Ophelia dress. Pattern by OhMeOhMySewing

I hacked it to have a 2 tier skirt rather than the ankle lenght gathered skirt. I also added lace trim to the hem, middle tier, sleeves and neckline. I did a big bias binding for the neckline and leaving a gap for the elastic rather than hemming the neckline. I struggle with hemming curves so that was a game changer for me. I also french seam everything! I might not attempt that again on gathers 🥲 that was hard for me. I was going to originally make this a 3 tier skirt, but I got lazy when cutting the fabric and i have a lot of long dresses already 😅

I was trying to go for a sexy dark vibe, but ended up with a lolita vibe. I still like the dress though.

Oh i almost forgot, I used cotton poplin for my fabric

Looking for a pattern for a blouse like this

I'd prefer a square neckline, but V neckline is also good.

The pattern lining up so perfectly was a happy accident

I made a Mollie top recently and made quite a few mistakes. I tried again doing the dress version and it came out so much better! I used some Japanese fabric i got from my recent trip for the collar and added trim.

I used cotton poplin for the bodice

I also used scraps to make a matching bow. I did not realize that the pattern on the collar lined up so well until I took the photos. I didn't even try or think to make them line up. So glad it did!

I'm not as close as I thought I was to my best friend

I realized today that I might not be as close to my best friend as I thought, and it hurts so much

We went to a concert together with another friend of theirs. Until recently, I only knew this person as their roommate because that's how they'd always referred to them. I had no idea they were actually so close.

The entire night I felt like a third wheel. This friend knew so much about my best friend like inside jokes, shared interests, little details about their life i was not aware of. They have so much in common that I don't. It made me realize there are parts of my best friend that I know very little about.

The worst part is that my best friend wasn't being mean. If anything, I think they were trying to include me and make sure I didn't feel left out. That somehow made me feel even worse because I could tell they noticed I was uncomfortable.

I feel guilty for feeling this way. They're allowed to have other friends. They're allowed to be close to other people. I dont own them and I don't want to be the kind of person who gets jealous over friendships.

But I always thought I was their closest friend. Now I'm questioning whether I am

It also made me wonder if they talk about me to this other friend the way they've vented to me about them....

Maybe what hurts most is that I always felt like they knew me better than anyone else, but I've often wondered if they felt the same way about me.

I know I'm probably emotional and overthinking after tonight, so I'm not planning on confronting them or making any assumptions. I just feel like the image I had of our friendship got destroyed and I'm grieving something I can't even fully explain.

Has anyone else ever realized they weren't as close to someone as they thought they were? How did you deal with these negative emotions 😔

Love how this came out despite my many mistakes

I made the mollie dress the top view. I used linen rayon for the bodice and cotton lawn for the collar. I lengthen the bodice by 1.5 in to add some pintucks. It was my first time doing them and I struggled too. My first attempt, my tucks were stacked on top of each other lol. I need to practice doing them more.

I also cut one of the collar pieces too short so the back and front look uneven

I learned the burrito method as well as sewing a built it bralett! I definitely want to make this again in the dress view!

Feeling like strawberry cheesecake

I made this dress using celeste dress pattern by OhMeOhMySewing. I really like her patterns and how easy they are to follow.

I tried making the sleeve version but my bat wings were too big and couldn't get it on. (Pictures at the end) I then added a gusset to the sleeves and lowered the hole. While I was able to put my arms in and zip it. It was too tight when reaching up and forward. I removed those sleeves three times and ended up making it sleeveless which might be a better option for this heat! Lol

I learned how to add trims doing the corset detail.

I also made the invisible zipper not invisible because it was hard to zip it and too tight on my waist. Once i removed it and made it visible I was able to breath lol

Definitely want to give the sleeves version a go again but need to learn some more about why I was having a fitting issue and how to solve it. I did find some helpful information in r/sewinghelp

Also, i tried taking photos at the park but my social anxiety got the best out me and only took a few before I took off. I took the rest of the photos in the restroom lol

P.S. I still have 2 meter of that pink fabric and still trying to figure out what to use it for

How to fix a tight armhole?

I am making this dress and still have yet to finish it. The sleeves were too tight and I already added a gusset. The arms are pretty roomy but the hole itself is too tight. I did lower the hole after adding the extra ease to the sleeves. The sleeves are gathered at the top, should I get rid of the gather and make the hole lower?

Stent tube came out and I'm peeing non stop

I just had my stent placed this past Tuesday and was supposed to leave it for a month. (Ive had this stone for 10 years without sypmtons so they could not remove on the first try) Last night, about 2-3 inches was peaking out of the white tube. Its been hard to walk or move my legs at all. I've been peeing nonstop unable to control it. They are going to have to remove it the stent a lot earlier. How's this going to affect me and the upcoming operation in a month ? Idk

Sadie Top with some modifications

I had enough leftover fabric to make this top!

I used the sadie top

I had recently made it in a different fabric weight and color and i think i like this one better

I changed the neckline from V neck to square neckline. I lowered the waist 2 in. I added a button extension and I made the sleeves ruffled rather than gathered with ties

I really struggled binding the neckline. I had to re do it 3 times 🫠

Help finding a pattern for a top like this

I really like the square neckline, the front seam and the sleeves. Everything i find is AI. Maybe im not putting the right words on google

Paying deductible twice?

Yesterday, the hospital called and told me I needed to pay my deductible (individual) before surgery, plus the 20% coinsurance that my insurance (PPO) doesn’t cover. I paid that amount.

Today, I received a bill from the anesthesiologist asking me to pay what appears to be the same deductible amount, plus 20% coinsurance. Both the surgeon and anesthesiologist are in-network providers.

My understanding was that once I met my deductible, I would only be responsible for the coinsurance percentage going forward. Is there a reason the anesthesiologist would also be asking for the deductible? Could this just be an estimate sent before the claim is processed?

Should I call the anesthesiologist’s billing office and explain that I already paid my deductible to the hospital, or is it normal to pay both bills and wait for a refund after insurance processes everything?

First time sewing bust darts

I made this top using the sadie top pattern.

I’d still consider myself beginner-intermediate at sweing, so I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. I absolutely love this cotton fabric. The colors and pattern are so fun 💜

I’m still not fully happy with my gathers (gathers are difficult 😭), but overall I really love the final result. One thing I especially appreciated about the pattern was the option to add hook and eye tape for a more modest fit. Before adding it, there was a huge gap at the center bodice and I thought I had made the top too small. But once I added the hooks, the fit improved SO much. I never would’ve thought such a small detail could make that big of a difference!
