Is it normal to dislike Lance Orion?

Is it normal to dislike Lance Orion?

Currently on book 4 and I am just not really seeing anything special about Lance. He wants Darcy to keep their relationship a secret from her own twin sister even though Lance, Darius, Darcy, and Tory all have huge secrets together, far more important than Lance and Darcy being together (like the shadows and phoenixes). So what is the big deal of adding one more secret to their pile so that way Tory and Darius can know? Lance obviously knows Darius wants to be with Tory and has another idea for the claim of the throne(s)

He continues to call the people in his classes teenagers and kids yet he is dating one and is attracted to one of those “teenager”/ “kids” (I am really trying not to let my education and career of medicine and science ruin this book for me but it is difficult. So far I am trying to enjoy their relationship however, it bothers me Darcy has not told Tory yet)

It seems like Darius, Lance and Darcy all seem to be encircled with one another because Lance wants to please Darius and Darcy wants to please Lance, etc… I feel bad for Tory being on what seems to be the outside of this.

It frustrates me Lance doesn’t sympathize with Tory more for all the shit Darius has done to her and Darcy. I get it, Lance and Darius have that deep bond but undermining Tory’s feelings towards Darius is wrong. Her hesitation towards Darius is and Darcy is too forgiving of him because of Lance it seems like.

Does Lance get better or am I just reading too into things?…

I know Lance Orion is one of the most, if not the most, beloved character in this series so no disrespect to anyone who loves him. I am just trying to see if I need to look at things differently with him.

Book 2. Caleb’s Pegasus Scene😭Spoilers!!!!

Currently reading the series for the first time and am on the 2 book where !<Caleb is thrusting the inflatable pegasus out of the doorway in front of everyone, naked>!

Crying tears of laughter because I am immersive reading this and it’s on 2x speed so it sounds fucking hilarious😭

I had no idea this book series would make me laugh but it is becoming one of my favorite series ever.

I am starting to really like Caleb and I lwky think Diego is evil.

I still think Darius and Tory are mates and that Orion and Darcy will get together, possibly mates as well.

Absolute Cinema? Yes. Absolutely Crack? Yes. Zodiac Academy!!!

As the title explains… idk what the authors put in this book because it is addictive !!

I see that this series receives a lot of hate (and I know I cannot say much because I haven’t even finished book one) but so far it is enjoyable.

Apparently many readers compare it to a television series called Gossip Girl— however I myself have never watched it so I can’t say much regarding that relation.

It reminds me of university except more intimate settings because you actually know people in your school, and a lot of “political” power, sort of like the richer you are, the more power you hold irl, or another example, the more popular you are, the more social status you gain.

I don’t see a reason to hate it (yet), but I am flying through this series. I think I mainly enjoy it because I myself am in uni and I’m around the same age as the main female characters, as well as me liking dark fantasy. Apparently this series has a very slow burn? I suppose I’ll see how that turns out, but I’m excited for it!

I am enjoying the magic system and world building, along with the plot. I think it’s something fun to read, kind of like how people watch The Vampire Diaries for pure entertainment.

(Also for reference, my favorite 5 star series so far:

ACOTAR,
Crowns of Nyaxia series
Folk of the Air series
The Empyrean series
House of the Devils series
ASOIAF series (5 stars so far, just waiting for GRRM next book)
LOTR series
FBAA series (up until that one trope comes in play… IYKYK)
Shatter Me series
Silo Series
The Witcher series
Crescent City (so far a 5 star series, unfinished)
TOG (so far 5 stars as well, unfinished)

* Side note, I’ve been reading fiction (and in general) for less than a year, so take that as you will when reviewing my references to see whether you might like ZA :) *

If you have read ZA, what’re your thoughts on it?

The IC, Nesta, and Tamlin

I am newer to this series and have read all the books so far. I am loving it!

Anyway, with that being said, I am really enjoying Rhysand and Feyre’s relationship. As someone who has experienced PTSD, I relate a lot with Feyre and Rhysand. Feyre also helped take care of her family during the time they had no money and struggled. Something I relate with as well:

Mor: I love Mor so much. I think she is one of my fave characters in the series! I hope that in the next book we can get lore of her story. I would really love to see how she progresses and grows as a character.

Nesta and Cassian: If I am being completely honest, I wasn’t really fond of Nesta to begin with because of how she treated Feyre vs Elaine. Only because I have a Nesta in my life who also happens to be a sister to me. But, I actually took myself out of the story and stopped self inserting because I wanted to read Nesta’s story and give her character a real chance. I was disappointed with how SF turned out because I felt like her character wasn’t done with the potential it could have been done with. I do love Nesta now and I definitely see her for who she is but I wish her character growth and progress would have been done better.
I really wasn’t fond of how Cassian and Nesta’s relationship progressed… I know this is a really hot take but I just wish it could have been better. It felt like it was missing something. I wish I could have gotten to know Cassian better as well. But that’s just me. However I did love the Valkyries in the book. Can’t wait to see more of them.

Tamlin: Now, I didn’t like the way he treated Feyre and Lucien throughout the first couple of books. He seemed a bit aggressive and maybe he has anger issues? And I really disliked how he mistreated Feyre at the meeting with the High Lords. But, this isn’t to say I don’t want him to grow and be a better person. I never want someone who is a “bad” person to stay a “bad” person. I would like to see some growth. I don’t know if I’d be interested in seeing more of Tamlin but I do hope to hear a little here and there on how he is doing. Very hot take because I know it’s either you love him or you hate him from what I have seen on Reddit.

Azriel and Amren, (I want to see more of them) and Elaine: I think I’d even love to have a whole book on Amren lol. And if I’m being honest, I would be okay with Elaine ending up with Azriel OR Lucien. I don’t have a preference🙈 I have seen theories of people thinking Elaine is evil lol. I think it’s my favorite theory of the whole series and I lwky hope to see it happen. But I do hope that Elaine will be likable in the new book. She should have helped her sisters take care of their family during their time of starvation as well. Nesta shouldn’t get all the blame. Papa should have done better but you can’t change the past and there is no point on harping on it.

Anyway girlypops that’s all I have to say🙂‍↕️

6 hour drive = new audiobook (thoughts on CC?)

Started CC today on a road trip back home from uni!

I have read urban romantasy before (house of devils series) and really enjoyed it.

I feel like starting off from the get go it was information overload tbh 😭
But nonetheless, I’m enjoying it so far :)

Why does this specific subreddit make fun of the IC constantly…

In this subreddit they have “trials” for whether their actions were justified or not. And I constantly see them make fun of the IC…

Romantasycirclejerk seems to be a place full of miserable people I simply do not understand.

I understand it’s for jokes and whatnot but it’s really gross and inappropriate behavior from grown adults with fully developed frontal cortex’s.

It’s very unfortunate how toxic book readers have become.

What books have you DNFed so far this year and why?

I have dnfed:

From Blood and Ash series (read the first couple of books but dnfed the rest of the series because I hate the forced trope with the 3 main characters, like wtf, it could have been so good for me if this weren’t the case!)

Once Upon a Broken Heart (I’m 21 and felt too old to read this series. It felt like it was meant for a 12 year old)

Red Queen (read the first book, tried to read the rest of the series, but dnfed because it was genuinely so boring and the characters and world building were not well established, not to mention it reminded me of Hunger Games)

Hollow by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti (it was just cringey and the world building was just awful and there was a lot of repetitiveness)

The Wolf King (the MFC was so annoying)

In conclusion, these books were just not for me and that’s okay.

Fire Lord Zuko: Amen🙏

I grew up watching ATLA (currently 21) and I genuinely believe his character is the reason why I now prefer the “villain” and or “morally grey” characters in fiction, specifically Romantasy.

(He was thought to be a villain all the while having daddy issues and trying to be an honorable man, which he proved to be time and time again. And his redemption arc proved to be the best one throughout the series in my opinion.)

((Also I would have loved him and Katara to be together but that’s a complaint for another time))

& bro is fine shyt let’s be real.

Any recs out there with MMC like Zuko?

Recs that have badass warriors like Octavia Blake?

Octavia from the 100 is such a badass (who had every reason to have a villain era btw)

Her love story with Lincoln was such a romantic tragedy it broke my heart but I loved them together.

Any good recs that have badass women like herself?

Do you think Lev’s character has influenced how people view Abby?

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I’m genuinely curious what everyone else thinks.

I’ve noticed that Joel seems to get a lot of hate in this fandom for killing Jerry and preventing the Fireflies from operating on Ellie, even though his motivation was saving someone he loved. Whether people agree with his decision or not, I can understand why he made it.

On the other hand, Abby brutally tortured and murdered Joel in front of Ellie, yet I’ve seen a lot of people defend her actions or view her redemption arc very positively.

It makes me wonder if Lev’s role in the story has influenced how people see Abby. Since Lev is a transgender character and many people connected with his story, do you think that relationship has made some fans more sympathetic toward Abby as a whole?

To be clear, I’m not saying everyone who likes Abby feels that way because of Lev, or that people only support her because of LGBTQIA+ representation. I know there are plenty of reasons people appreciate Abby’s character, just as there are plenty of reasons people dislike her.

I’m simply curious whether you think Lev’s presence and Abby’s relationship with him affected how the fandom received Abby’s redemption arc.

What do you think?

Dany & Daario Book Recs

I loved them together in GOT they were so peak(to me they should have been end game((as I’m not really into rape or incest)) he was the best option for her imo)

Anyway he was basically like a guard and advisor and I loved that he swore his life to protect and follow her.

Any good Romantasy books with this kind of trope?

Thoughts on Hollow?

I’ve been trying to read this but it feels a bit draggish. Not sure if it gets any better throughout the series…

Thoughts on this book if you’ve read it?

“Recovered Correspondence” Does This Mean They Are Dead?

I’m confused…

So in Iron Flame at the beginning of the book it said a scribe was recounting these events…

Is this book written in the future, telling the events of the people in it, like a war love story or something?

Does this mean everyone in this book is dead and someone is telling their story?
