Big Amanita in MA

Big Amanita in MA

Apologies for only having one mediocre photo. I'm wondering how I might go about determining whether or not this is Amanita chrysoblema (Amanita muscaria var. guessowii). I've never felt confident identifying Amanita spp. in my local forests—since there are lots of lookalikes—though I have seen A. chrysoblema in lawns and near farms. What's the process of determining between the different pale / yellow Amanitas with warts?

I'm asking as someone who regularly forages for Exsudoporus frostii, Armillaria mellea, Suillus spraguei, Sarcodon imbricatus, Cortinarius iodes, Hydnum, Strobilomyces, etc.

Best way to brew Leonurus cardiaca for maximum psychoactivity?

I already know that Leonurus cardiaca won't cause some sort of obvious high—that's not what I'm seeking. "Psychoactive" denotes any cognitive activity (leonurine weakly binds to multiple GABA receptor sites). Anxiolytic effects have been anecdotally reported here before. I'm wondering what the best technique is for brewing, as I don't want to destroy any fragile active compounds. Thanks in advance :)

Leaning Tower of Spice

I’m a complete novice on my third year of cactusing in zone 6b/7a. That tall boy was given to me as a free gift—less than an inch tall—when I purchased some TBM cuttings (the only other variety I’m growing… for now). The seller has since deleted their account. Will I ever have the slightest idea who he is? Perhaps if I get flowers?

Pointers would also be appreciated since I clearly need them.

Report Bots?

The bots are getting really out of hand—only way to identify them is to ask for something that their programming does not account for.

I know that we can report individual accounts to moderators, but then they are a plague on every other subreddit; the problem does not go away.

Is anything else to be done? It’s making want to leave this platform.

Hot Plate for Extractions - Basics?

I have no idea where else to post this; just got my first magnetic stirring hotplate (used) for developing extracts and formulations, and wanted to make sure I'm following basic safety protocols. Running the stirrer with finer inert particles should be fine (like leaf powder), but would dissolving a large ball of wax or resin in hot oil while running the stirrer be problematic?

Open to folks telling me anything that is ill-advised, other than the obvious "don't heat flammable solvents like that!"—I'm not prepared to get into refluxing.

First Prop of the Season

Second summer growing in zone 6b/7a—first time getting a small stem prop to grow successfully. Probably better to use larger sections.

N. rustica "Rapa Nui"

Planted six around my salvia to deter pests, but I also plan on harvesting often for making pesticide and managing growth. What else do people like to do with rustica? Dokha? Hapé? Ambil paste?

Does this technique hold up over time?

I'm not able to post a link, but I need to share this video in order to make my question as clear as possible.

Does this technique—of transferring printer ink to canvas—hold up over time if I then paint on top of it with acrylic?

I've followed this technique once before on a ~10 year old acrylic painting, but my canvas was a sheet of wood and I may have sealed it with some kind of spray (honestly cannot remember). Typically this has only been necessary when trying to work with incredibly complex geometry—other times I'll just follow the grid transfer technique.

Acrylic seems to hold up extremely well, but could the Mod Podge react differently to humidity? Would it respond poorly to physical stress? Maybe warp over time? Is the ink a barrier which could prevent paint from forming a strong bond? Longevity is always a goal.

Sleep / Dream Interactions

Has anyone had intense sleep / dream interactions when taking harmala salts ~2-3 hours before sleeping? I figured this was normal for everyone, but didn‘t think to ask online until now.

This is not something I do regularly—on occasional nights I‘ll want to feel the harmala effect even if only for a couple hours. Examples of what I experience: a recurring white light that triggers me to bolt awake, intricate pattern / geometry tracers whenever sleep is interrupted, tossing and turning, fatigue the next day (as if I didn’t sleep through the night). I could hypothesize why this happens, though it’s probably best not to make unsubstantiated claims.

I'm assuming Libre Franklin is variable based on it being scalable on the Google Fonts site, but I cannot find any way to adjust it in illustrator. I am only given the option of "Medium"—no existing tutorials have proven useful (there is no clickable "V" next to the font name for enabling variable). What am I doing wrong?
