Repost. I am looking for some help with transitioning from life at a homeless shelter into a full-time job that will eventually lead me to finding a permanent sublet in a private residence.

I need help with things like: transportation, cellphone bill, food (free food at the shelter, but with a job I won't be able to eat there), and work clothing (very important, I need to look both presentable and have durable clothing, so this unfortunately isn't cheap). About 3/4ths of the money has been raised already, I am hoping to start work around the last week of August so I need to be ready.

This happened over ten years ago. I was the the leaseholder on a 4-bed in Brooklyn, and on the plus side it made it really cheap for me. On the downside, lots of dealing with just absolutely moronic young people.

Had one roommate, P. P said she had cancer before but was in remission, whatever I don't judge.

Few months go by, she seems like an okay roommate. Then out of nowhere, she just disappears a few days before the month's end. Texts me at the start of the month:

" I have cancer again, I will be staying with my boss, can you cover my rent for a few weeks?"

Okay, fine. I say she has until mid month to catch up. Mid month comes, crickets. Just nothing. So I let her know that if I don't hear from her by the last week of that month, I am tossing all her shit out and re-renting the room. So I do exactly that.

HOLY FUCK. i enter her room, this is the scene:

1. Her mirror is broken all over the floor.

2. There are cigarette butts everywhere.

3. Dirty (but designer) clothing everywhere.

4. Worst part: in the corner, there is a contractor bag absolutely full of dirty dishes and food. Above, a cloud of maybe 500 fruit flies.

Well, I had no choice but get to work. Bought duct tape, a box full of contractor bags, and bug killer. Improvised a biohazard suit, and started vacuuming up all the fruit flies.

All in all, took about 10+ hours to clean the room, 25+ bags full of trash and clothing on the curb. I figured she died and no one had my info to let me know.

Nope, a month later my other roomie approaches me and goes '"hey I saw her working at some shit jewelry store in Manhattan, she seemed perfectly fine.

TL;DR: roommate left a nightmare of a space to clean, I thought she died but she was just mentally ill.

I am new to this community and looking to help my gym buddy get a job as a personal trainer. The guy really knows how to train hard and when he talks about fitness he's very inspiring.

However, he's not that great at the whole job aspect of it, so I want to help him build a resume and apply to places.

Due to life circumstances, I am currently looking for a night time job; I am currently staying at a homeless shelter and it's tough to sleep at night (people are noisy), but much easier to sleep during the day. So really I would have a lot easier of a time working nights.

Some of my experience includes: construction (painting, rough and trim carpentry, tilework), construction management (this is something I am really proficient at). I am currently working on getting an OSHA 40 and should have it within a week or so. I also have non-profit project management experence (I realize this isn't very useful for graveyard shift jobs). Also, food service experience.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
