What bi experiences do you wish fiction handled better? Any tropes you hate?

What bi experiences do you wish fiction handled better? Any tropes you hate?

For a while, my X For You feed kept showing posts hating on bisexual celebrities (99% of them being women) for getting into relationships with men while still identifying as bisexual.

The discourse frustrated me so much that it ended up inspiring a visual novel.

I'm working on an otome and yuri visual novel called The Community Notes Are Wrong, which is about a bisexual woman dealing with biphobia, bi erasure, messy online discourse and includes romantic routes with both a male and female love interest.

I'm curious: what kinds of bi representation feel real to you, and what tropes instantly make you go "please, not this again"?

I’ve also had a couple of people say certain parts of the story came across in ways I didn’t intend, including concerns around lesbophobia. Because the comment quickly became personal and the person made assumptions about my bisexuality, I thought it would be helpful to ask somewhere more neutral.

THE COMMUNITY NOTES ARE WRONG has been updated with Chapter 1 of Levi's route and Cheri's route!

The update includes...

  • 2-3 hrs of route progression
  • Choices that could lead to early exit bad endings
  • 4 new CGs and menu art
  • Social media gameplay (bad ends are in, so be careful!)

It is one of the goals of my otome and yuri visual novel, The Community Notes Are Wrong, to show how biphobia impacts the female protagonist in a way that's not just misogyny and homophobia.
