Let's talk about the Occultist: which version is the correct one? the D&D Beyond one or the Book one?

Let's talk about the Occultist: which version is the correct one? the D&D Beyond one or the Book one?

I've been having an argument in another subreddit. The object in question is whether the Occultist grants disadvantage on all creatures affected by the saving throw of the spell or just one target per spell. This is the part of the website

>Overwhelming Mind. Creatures have Disadvantage on the first saving throw they make against the spell.

This instead is a discussion that was had in the Discord of Crooked Moon, claiming it hasn't been erratad.

Is it me or is the Occultist Wizard from Crooked Moon really good?

I've been invited in a campaign that made available for us on D&D Beyond both Grim Hollow and Crooked Moon books (even though they're not the same set).

I'm playing a human wizard and I've been eyeing the various subclasses available for us and then I stumbled on the Philosopher and the Occultist.

The occultist is risky, that's true, but the benefit maybe could outweigh the cons.

The Level 6 feature to cast a Warlock spell without concentration is just stupid good.

But even the Level 3 ones to impose disadvantage for all enemies against the first save of your spell. Well, that will Hypnotize or Scare a lot of enemies, if you know what I mean. And let's not talk about AoE damage spells.

The thing with occultist is that you have to calculate your risks and not just yolo everytime because there is a chance you'll summon an Aberration or Fiend with CR equal to your level (that is not under your control and can attack you if it wants)

I won't post all the feature because is surprisingly long and with a full table of effects, but the effect cited above is probably the scariest one, since it can fuck up the encounter for the players.

I know Chronurgist is way safer to play and some may prefer it. However this subclass can potentially impose disadvantage on saves way more times per day. Also the subclass doesn't say that it only works with Wizard spells.

This mean you can grab Command from Magic Initiate: Cleric and force enemies to skip turns over and over by casting command with imposed disadvantage. After all you do can spend a spell slot for Command with Magic Initiate and that counts.

Problem with Daemonologist from Grim Hollow

I got invited in a campaign where they share the Grim Hollow 2024 book and we use 2024 characters.

Basically it allows me to choose the subclass but what it doesn't do is allowing me to choose the invocation. This subclass should allow me to choose a warlock invocation and it doesn't let me choose.

This is what I did to the rogue in my campaign to boost his damage

Very short answer:

I allowed with the Piercer feat to reroll all dices of the damage dealt with a single attack instead of only 1. Suddenly the damage was fine. He was happy because he rolled twice all the damage and took the best set of damage

Making character for players, in a campaign, on mobile.

I would love to make unassigned characters on mobile that I can give to players when they join a campaign. Basically, I create a campaign. Inside I make a ton of unassigned characters to be used for one-shots. then when I find players to join my campaign for a specific one-shots, they enter and claim the characters.

More specifically I would like to make characters inside an empty campaign on mobile. So that I can work on possible character sheets when I'm outside doing other stuff.

I know that I can edit characters already made by players. However. I would to populate my campaign beforehand with characters sheets to be claimed, on mobile.

There should be an option to make a character for a player on mobile. I wish there was.

I think I can already do this on PC at home. I would like to also make this on mobile.

How many individual people can I share my content with?

I know the limit is 5 campaigns. Is there a limit on how many people in a specific campaign or maybe a limit on how many players across the board?

Sea Druid suggestions: Should I just pick Warden or is it also viable Magician for this specific subclass?

Basically title. I see that Sea Druid wants to be melee with the enemies. Is Warden almost obligatory for this subclass or is Magician a Viable way to play?

Didn't Monster Slayer have the perfect iteration of what Hunter's Mark should be in Slayer's Prey feature?

I just read the Monster Slayer from Xanathar. God, this is perfect. This is it. This is what Hunter's Mark should have been all along.

> Starting at 3rd level, you can focus your ire on one foe, increasing the harm you inflict on it. As a bonus action, you designate one creature you can see within 60 feet of you as the target of this feature. The first time each turn that you hit that target with a weapon attack, it takes an extra 1d6 damage from the weapon.

> This benefit lasts until you finish a short or long rest. It ends early if you designate a different creature.

Boom, no concentration, medium damage. Still worse than Divine Favor, mind you.

I guess now you have disadvantage on ranged attack rolls against said target

Think about it, you have some day of downtime activity, so you roll portent each day. It's likely that you on average you would get a 10 or more or a roll good enough to pass the Arcana Check to copy the scroll. This makes it so that if you find precious scrolls and the DM is stingy, you can make sure that you can pass the check by just fishing for the right roll by letting pass some days. This is on top of being on the most praised subclass for Wizard.

I have the Plus of Roll20 and I also have DungeonDraft. I see many people going about Dungeon Alchemist that allows Dms to make prewalled maps from Dungeon Alchemist to Roll20 but I would like to be able to do the same thing with DungeonDraft instead; simply because I already have DungeonDraft. Would it be possible to make walled maps with dynamic lighting within Dungeon Draft and THEN export them to ROll20?

For example, let's say either me or one of my friend wants to Deceive an individual and since either me or someone else is climbing on mirrors, DM says the check is with disadvantage; would I be able to negate disadvantage on that check if the situation is not in a combat scenario?

In short: Can you take reactions outside of combat?

My assumption would be that since you can use Feather Fall outside of combat if the party is falling and that is a reaction, then I would assume that you can take reaction even outside of combat.

Asking just to be sure because I'm not really sure I can. Let me know if this is allowed or not.

We have a rogue in the party. I forgot that my class (Sorcerer) could take Haste spell.

The question is if it still works for the Rogue to make 2 sneak attack per round if he holds his action readies an attack to make a sneak attack on another creature's turn as a reaction.

I remember reading that this was possible.

The ruling is that you can make a sneak attack per turn, this means you can potentially make another sneak attack on another creature's turn if your action economy allows it and you ready an attack for it. As consequence of this, you could make 2 sneak attack per round.

Is the synergy between Rogue and Haste spell still valid in 5.5e?
