When is the next season coming?

With Shudder canceling The Last Drive-In my plan is to ride out the year to catch the Halloween and Christmas specials and then cancel Shudder to switch over to wherever Joe Bob lands. However, I'm hoping to get in one more Dragula season before that happens. Do we have any news on a future release date?

Where do you hope/predict JB will land in the New Year?

My personal guess is Night Flight. They specialize in the sort of obscure deep cut cult movies that Joe Bob has expressed an interest in doing. Less "well worn" was the expression that I think he used at the Devil's Workshop in Austin. Night Flight also has the advantage of live streaming channels like his show currently runs on.

Where I hope he doesnt end up is Tubi. I like Tubi and watch it a bunch and they do have a good library but either his show is going to run extra long because we have the movie and his breaks and commercials or he will cut his breaks short to make way for commercials just like he did on TV.

CultPix wouldnt be great either since they are only PC based unless they will use his show to launch a streaming app in which case I'm 100% onboard.

For those that want to avoid sexual assault in tomorrow's movie... (spoilers)

The first movie we are in for is I Spit On Your Grave (1978) which has one of the longest and most graphic rape scenes in movie history. For those uncomfortable with sexual assault and want to avoid seeing it, the big scene starts with her in the canoe being harassed by the men in a motor boat and runs for about 25 minutes. >!There are several times the it feels like it is over but it isnt. Each of the four men rape her in turn.!< I'm not sure what Joe Bob's breaks are going to do to that runtime. Since its one complete sequence, it doesnt really lend itself well to interruptions so they may just play the whole thing through. The sex itself isnt particularly realistic (or explicit), but Keaton sells the trauma *very* well which makes it a rough but memorable watch.

Can anyone tell me anything about this spoon/stirrer?

My wife found this at a local antique store that has a huge selection of uranium glass. They generally know what they have and are expensive but this was in a jar labeled "stirrers" and was the only one of its kind. We've never seen anything like it.

Im a fan of bad movies but Ive never seen a Glenn Danzig movie. Should I start with Verotika (2019) or Death Rider in the House of Vampires (2021)?

Eventually, I'm sure I'll watch both but I'm curious if there is any agreed upon order of watch.

Who are the current companies to look to for the truly obscure movies?

Something Weird Video used to be the gold standard but they are gone now. I know about Severin and Vinegar Syndrome. I think that AGFA (the American Genre Film Academy) typically partners with Vinegar Syndrome. Arrow has some good releases. What other companies are out there preserving and re-releasing these old films?

Got this Frankenhooker wall hanger from my wife for my birthday!

Frankenhooker (1990) is one of my favorites. Joe Bob featured it in his "Heartbreak Trailerpark" valentines day special in 2022. My wife actually picked this up months ago and was hiding it this whole time. I love it!

It's pride month. What are your favorite LGBTQIA+ centric films?

I recently watched But I'm A Cheerleader (1999). It's a light romantic comedy set in a gay conversion camp and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Ive also recently made my way through Charles Busch's filmography - Die, Mommie, Die!, Psycho Beach Party, and the Sixth Reel and reccomend all of them. The first is a satire of Hollywood melodramas, the second a playful homage to 60s beach movies, and the last is about quirky New Yorker film fans and a plot surrounding a lost silent movie reel.

Im also one of those weirdos who's seen Rocky Horror hundreds of times, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch is also a personal favorite.

What are your favorites or reccomendations?

Wet preserving hissing cockroaches in ethanol, inject or no?

Im seeing conflicting info on fixing roaches with ethanol. Some say to inject but most are just recommending a 2 week (or so) soak in 95%-99% and then transfer to 70% iso. On the one hand, Im concerned about bursting them injecting them but on the other Im concerned that a a simple soak won't penetrate their exoskeleton. Any thoughts from those who have done it?

What's your favorite genre homage/parody?

I love a movie that is simultaneously a love letter to a specific genre and a parody of it. Examples are Die Mommie Die, Polyester, and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls which are all parodies of Hollywood melodramas or Black Dynamite which is a loving parody of blaxploitation, specifically Rudy Ray Moore films. What are your favorites?

Anyone here seeing Joe Bob in Austin this weekend?

The wife and I are and are excited about it. Her birthday is in May and mine is in June so this is how we're celebrating both of them. We're also going to swing by the gas station in Bastrop where they filmed the Texas Chain Saw Massacre for some BBQ while we're up there.
