Fluance RT81 needle skip/kick.

Hopefully the video captures it. You can watch the needle track the groove but the tonearm doesn’t move, so the needle jumps back.

Before anybody says it - the cueing lever is not making contact with the tonearm.

This is at 2g on the needle, it does lessen or go away if I crank the weight. At 4.5g it basically doesn’t happen.

Antiskate doesn’t seem to make an appreciable difference.

I think I remember seeing these have issues with the tonearm pivot. Any ideas how to fix?

PSA: seatgeek fucking lies about this parking garage

Seatgeek shows this garage as being next to / part of the chase center itself but once I got the address it was almost two miles away.

Edit: since this seems unclear

The garage called “chase center parking” on seatgeek, NOT Warriors Way Garage, shows itself as being on top of the chase center on SeatGeek’s map. The actual address that was on my parking ticket (which I didn’t share because it has the barcode) is for 155 Stevenson.

Follow up to the $5 Griswold

A 45min vinegar soak, Brillo scrub and some canola oil and she’s right as rain. Not a show piece but it’ll be a workhorse for sure. Love the smooth surface finish inside the pan too, really excited to see how it cooks.

Also has me inspired to go sand down and reseason my other pans…

My first vintage/nice cast iron - Griswold 6”

A friend of mine is moving out of the country and had a big yard sale, I pickup this up along with a massive tote full of art supplies for my partner and some other stuff for $20 total. She figured $5 for the pan and was glad that I grabbed it. Excited to strip it back and re-season it. All I have currently are modern Lodge pans, so I’m excited to have something with such a nice finish on it.

iPhone upgrading - during the outage

Hello all,

Today I bought a new iPhone 17pm and went to move everything over from my 14pm. I went into the Mint app and told it this was my new device and it seemed to kick off alright, except...

It seems that they disabled my old eSIM in my old phone and the activation for my new one hasn't come through. I assume the answer is that I just have to talk to them but: 1. I tried calling multiple times over the course of hours and never got through to anybody and 2. I sent a chat message and their bot seemed to understand what I meant and said they'd get somebody, but never did.

Has anybody else experienced this when moving to a new device? I'm likely just going to try calling again tomorrow morning and hoping it works, but I can't any text messages like the one I need for 2FA account verification to proceed with the new eSIM setup.

WTS - Sailor Pro Gear Slim 14k Black/Silver

Hello,

I have a Sailor Pro Gear Slim with the 14k nib in black/silver for sale. Please see the photos below.

My camera isn't the greatest but based on other photos I've seen in other listings, I'd say it's probably B/B-. There are tiny scratches on the body of the pen as it has been used before and kept in a shirt pocket, but no major damage that I can find.

The pen has a Broad nib that says Sailor, 1911, 14k, 585, and H-B on it. The box is included with some slight damage (see photos) but it also has the sleeve over top.

I do not have an image of how the pen writes - the verification paper was written with a different pen. The pen is not currently inked up and will be cleaned and dried again prior to shipping.

Asking $150+shipping obo, that seems like a reasonable price based on other PGS pens I've seen on here. Motivated to sell though, make me an offer.

Installing windows as secondary OS

Hello everybody. Cachyos is my primary operating system and the only one I’ve been running for about a year now, but there are some windows applications that I need to run natively. I have a 2 TB SSD that is currently set up as a single ext4 partition, but I was thinking about splitting that drive into a 1tb ext4 and 1tb ntfs so I can install windows on the NTFS partition. Is there anything that I need to do or keep in mind? I am worried it may affect the grub boot loader or they’re just maybe something I’m not aware of. Thanks!

Edit: I should clarify that my OS is currently installed on a separate drive. So I would have Linux on one drive and Windows on the other.

R100CS, worth a restoration?

Hello all,

A friend of mine has an R100CS rotting away on their property that shows tags from 1996. It's been sitting outside here in California and does show a pretty decent bit of corrosion and age, although it appears to be complete or at least mostly complete.

I am pretty handy - I tore down and rebuilt essentially everything except the engine itself on a KLR650 about two years ago, so I'm not too put off by the amount of work it would take. But I am curious about parts availability and difficulty. I expect a lot of seized fasteners and fighting to get things apart due to the level of corrosion. But, it's a really cool bike, it's cool that it's still complete, and if it's feasible without dropping an insane amount of cash, it could be a fun project.
