Back in the day I always built my home machines... going all the way back to the 3/486 days. So I'm old and have been at this a long time and have built many many systems.

Anyway, back when GPU prices started to climb, I wanted a new comp and I wanted a 4090 and was tired of building systems. I found the HP 45L with a 4090 for $2699.

4090's alone were going for about the same price so it was a good deal to me. Didn't have to build the system and it ran everything I threw at it. I upgraded the ram and hard drive.

This year I decided to get the HP Ultimate gaming bundle protection plan, at $20 I figured I had nothing to lose.

The machine was on the floor and I told myself I got to move it before something happens, and the next day it did. I hadn't moved the machine.

My special needs cat decides to take a nap on top of the machine above the radiator. When she gets into deep sleep she has a problem of peeing on herself. Needless to say, pee got inside the computer and looks like it only affected the video card. At this point, I had only had the protection plan for 3 months or so.

2 of the display ports no longer worked and the machine lagged terribly. I needed a machine for work and went out to microcenter and bought an Alienware for $2400 with a 5080.

I took out the 4090, cleaned it and tested it on the new machine, same issue, so the problem was definitely the card.

I made a claim with HPUGPP, they had me ship the machine in. The system was marked as BER (Beyond economic repair) so they sent me a check for 2k which is the limit of reimbursement per claim.

Overall, the process took about two weeks from putting in the claim to receiving the money. They also shipped back my hard drive and ram, but no chance of getting the whole machine back :(

The reimbursement ended up paying for most of the new Alienware machine.

TLDR: HP's ultimate gaming protection plan worked great.

Ordered some food for a lunch meeting at work. Driver picks up the order and looks like he drove home and took it for himself.

I had to argue with support just to get my money refunded. Had to deny credit back to my grubhub account about 4 times before they would refund to the credit card.

What does Grubhub do to the drive in this case?

Just got removed as a mod by someone from a sub I created. How?

About 2 years ago I bought a prebuilt HP Omen 45L with a core i9 13900k and a 4090. I really only bought it for the 4090 because it was the cheapest way to get one at the time and I was tired of building systems. I added some ram and the system has been rock solid every since, never locked up, never crashed. Nice and quick machine that handled all my gaming and work.

We have a special needs kitty who can't control her bladder. So she'll fall asleep somewhere and just empty it out.

She did that on top of the computer. Pee came down into the radiator and I believe on the motherboard and video card. The machine started stuttering and freezing. You would move the mouse and it would lag and stutter. Sometimes it would go back to normal but 30 seconds later you're back to stuttering and lagging.

I took the machine apart and cleaned every surface I could with alcohol. Still had stuttering and lagging.

I reformatted the hard drive and tried a clean windows install.... same issue.

What's strange is I tried a linux install and the machine runs perfectly, no lagging, no stuttering. I just couldn't get the sound to work. (ordered a usb sound card to deal with that)

I needed to get a machine so I ended up going to microcenter and picking up an Alienware prebuilt with a 5080 to get back to work.

Now I have a 45L paperweight basically with a 4090 in it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What would you do with the machine?
