Super beginner friendly with links to videos embedded in the pattern and tons of adjustments that you can make in case you have a narrow foot, etc. Highly recommend. And they are made in the indestructible washing machine and dryer friendly Kroy socks yarn
My previous attempt at making socks was unsatisfactory. The gauge was so loose that it felt like I was walking on a waffle iron. Granted, beginner mistake, I used fingering yarn where DK was called for
Anyway, on someone’s advice I looked up Summer Lee and I’m making a pair of her vanilla socks. It calls for a gauge of 10 stitches per inch on size 1 needles with fingering yarn
I am using fingering on a size 0 needle and I’m still getting only seven stitches per inch. How do you guys do it?
I feel like the fabric on this yarn would be very comfortable. Should I just forge ahead and recalculate to make a smaller size sock two account for the gauge I’m getting?
I retired four months ago and have been knitting like it’s my new full-time job. I cranked this sweater out in 13 days! Also even though the yarn all has the same dye lot you can clearly see where new balls were added on in the flat picture. I hope they don’t show so much once I’m wearing it
Despite the color variations I’m on a quest to find a sweater quantity of Rowan Cashcotton DK. It was the loveliest yarn to work with ever!

A nice boy I was dating briefly in the late 80s gave me this, and I don’t know if I am the actual subject of the poem or if it is just a happy coincidence.

Edit 3: I didn’t realize this post would blow up like it did. I wanted to reply to each of you and share my compassion, but right now I’m just trying not to cry. I will start. I went to get some labs done and walked back to my office, and as I sat down my phone was ringing. It was my Primary asking me if I felt well. Apparently my blood sugar was 40. Usually I can tell when I’m crashing, but this time I just felt a little… I don’t know… off?
I have been knitting for two years and have only ever made sweaters. I don’t know why I was so afraid of trying to make socks or why I thought they were a dumb thing to make. I might be obsessed!
This is Tin Can Knits Rye sock pattern in Pattons Kroy sock yarn on 3.25mm needles in a size xl (I wear a size 11)
I think what I was afraid of the most was picking up stitches on the heel, but the way the pattern is written, it was super easy! In hindsight I would not use self striping yarn for this pattern because of the purled rows, but I guess this is how you learn!
