My first time Shenmue

I am on CD 2 on Shenmue 1 right now and I absolutely love it, so much so that I had to order Shenmue II as well. I dont understand why I never played it before, I am just glad I get to experience it all now. Its easily one of the best games I've played and it feels like a very prestige title. Cant imagine how it must have felt playing this in 1999.

Anyways I am looking forward to playing more of it. So far I cant say anything bad about it, I just love walking around in the world and taking it all in. This game is magic.

Month 1 Dreamcast Pickups

This is my very first month with the Dreamcast, I tried many games out on cdi first and these are the four favorites I ended up buying for my Month 1 Collection.

MSR I always wanted to play because I grew up being a big PGR Fan on Xbox.

Dynamite Cop is the most arcade fun I had in years, the game just oozes fun for me.

Soul Calibur is outstanding and you all know it, I just wish my copy wasnt trash. Had to replace it with a cdi but I'll manage to send it in to a store for resurfacing eventually so its all good.

Shenmue. I tried it for the first time the other day and I immediately went "holy sht I need to buy this". I love everything about it and it feels like such a prestige game. Just wow. Already ordered Shenmue 2 (on Xbox, please dont hate me).

Knife Edge Nose Gunner is a really cool Railshooter

Played it for the first time today, very fair game. Easy here actually means easy and not "you die 2 seconds later than on normal" like with other shooters :D

Love that you can choose multiple paths for a stage so theres actually alot of replayability.

Is Dawn Before Darkness Worth Getting?

I loved the first part of Simone's run in the Origins & Omens DC Finest, but this one has alot of Blackest Night content which is completely unrelated to the Gail Simone story I reckon?

Getting burned on buying originals

My recent purchase of a scratched up copy of Soul Calibur made me rethink how I go about collecting physical. I still want to build a small physical collection, but it is very hard to find discs that arent in horrible condition. People also hold the disc in their listings so you cant see the scratches on their photos but when you hold it into the light, it looks absolutely horrible.I have no clue what people do with their discs, do they balance them ontop of a screwdriver for entertainment after playing?

This game is so scratched up that it freezes the console during loading screens and introduces graphical glitches - none of these issues are present during gameplay of a burned cdi btw.

Thing is, I might just have to rethink my way of buying games. I dont want to send back a game 30 times and get burned 30 times because the listing was a scratch-scam, It just can not be expected to collect 27 year old games and have them be prestine, so I might just collect them for the cases and put the burned copy inside the case so I know I have a working one at least.

Anyways, just my 2 cents about this situation. The case of this copy I got looks amazing, but seeing the disc made me really sad.

Hey Jaguar Fans, first off, I never owned a Jaguar, I never touched one and probably sadly never will, however, the The Cave Infomercial thats available on YouTube has become my go to chill out video.

I watch it when I cant sleep, I watch it when I am stressed, it always calms me down. Such fantastic 90 vibes. Just wanted to share this with you guys. When I first heard them praise the 17 button controller for being ergonomic I bursted out laughing though.

First off I gotta say these controllers are phenomenal. Buttons and Stick feel fantastic, the triggers are superb and I just love the little gimmick when it shows you some game related details on the VMU.

So far I've played MSR, 102 Dalmatians and Dynamite Cop and I've been enjoying myself so much. Cant believe I never had this console, but to my defense as a kid/teenager I never heard about it before like 2011 when they announced the Dreamcast Collection for the 360 and since then I always wanted to try the real deal.

Discs are recognized within a second everything feels like it was looked after really well. ebay seller said it was especially noisy but either my ears are really bad or he over exegarrated and just had a bad disk or something.

I am so glad I have this now. I wish I could use the controller everywhere :D

So my first ever Dreamcast is going to arrive on saturday and I am so hyped, it also comes with a VMU but how much space do you usually need per game? Is there a list of which game needs how much space?

Whats the most cost effiecient way to go about this? As someone who doesnt know anything about it, 100kb sounds like nothing.

I tried buying an original classic controller three times this month and kept getting burned (got my money back for all of them but still), either they've been missing screws and were taped together or buttons were shot, all things that were not mentioned in the ebay listing, or they get lost in delivery. So I am honestly feeling very cursed with buying these Original Controllers from eBay and I might just pull the trigger on one of these hall effect gamepads.

Has anyone tried them before? Looks like they are being sold for 55 bucks, which is a steep price but at least I would be sure to not buy something taped with missing screws lol.

I cant get PGR1 to run on my 1.6. Its a softmodded Rocky 5, if I let 720/480p enabled it just doesnt even start and if I disable those two and force it to run on 480i, it always gets stuck after the intro before you see the game menu.

I thought it was my disc too so I tried launching it from an .xiso from hdd but that gives the exact same result.

Any way for me to play this or is it a dead game on a 1.6?

Edit: I extracted the .xiso and NOW it works. So strange. CD still unusable though.

Hey guys, so I am heavily visually impaired. Its a disability I've been living with all my life and its fine when playing games on a big screen, however I will never be able to do modding work to solder stuff and since I read about so many things that keep breaking on the console and you'd have to replace almost everything when you buy one if you dont want it to be junk in the near future.

So I am trying to figure out if people are just being elitist and over exeggarting and if it still makes sense for me to get the console as I really want one - looking at MSR, F355 and Dynamite Cop, I just cant believe I never played one before.

Also emulation isnt really an option for me, I like playing games on original hardware, I love the collecting part just as much as the playing part, so saying "just download flycast lol" wont really help.

I am about to place an order for a Dreamcast with a dead internal battery, I know they charge while having the console on, but they probably dont charge anymore after 20+ years of being dead I would assume.

Seeing as MSR, a game that to my understanding syncs ingame time with the clock of the console every few minutes, I am guessing if it will even work with a dead one. I reckon the battery would still hold the time for as long as the console is turned on? Is that assumption correct?

I hope you can take away my fears so I can place an order for console and games when pay arrives tomorrow =)
