independent.co.ukBK breakfast sandwich egg shrinkflation 🧐
Eggs are paper-thin nowadays; the counter lady said they are portioned out with a measuring spoon. I will not make the mistake of coming to BK for breakfast again.

Why did The Weeknight gloss over Mitch McConnell’s situation?
They just talked about it, this evening but failed to mention that everyone knows the released photo is from years ago.
Why aren’t they talking about how McConnell’s situation may be the biggest fraud pushed on the people of Kentucky, and is a shameful Republican power grab to circumvent a special election or appointment by Beshear?
McConnell should be the lead story on all major news broadcasts, until he proves himself fit for office in his US Senate seat — IF Mitch is actually still alive!
Republicans moan about dead people voting, but are they protecting a dead person holding a US Senate seat?!! 🤷🏻♂️

More effective iPhone ad-blocking: Safari+uBlockLite ~OR~ Firefox?
For iPhone/iPad usage, which would be more effective at blocking ads (and trackers):
- Safari with the uBlock Origin Lite extension, or
- Firefox?
Even though (on iPhone/iPad) Firefox's underlying rendering engine is Safari, apparently Safari extensions are only effective if using the Safari app itself - they do not extend to rendering on Firefox mobile.
I'm trying to use websites instead of apps (such as Facebook, X, etc.) to better alleviate ads and to cut down on apps that notoriously drain ones battery.

Why does DRAM hold 14.9% First American Funds, Inc (FGXXX)?
I'm curious as to why DRAM holds a sizable 14.9% of First American Funds, Inc. - Government Obligations Fund (FGXXX)?
That is its 3rd highest holding, behind SKH & Samsung
McDonald’s LTO Fried Apple Pies
Are a legit 9/10 — could be a bit bigger for $2 to match BK’s offering.
Had this today and … completely enjoyed it!
Which course of action for excess cash - taxable ETF right away, or 5 years super-contributions to new 457b Roth
Nearing 5-8 years until possible age 62-65 retirement, my employer offers a 457b Roth for age catch-up.
I have been stupid about investing, and have a $300K chunk of money in a VUSXX money market being eaten up by inflation - which includes my emergency fund.
Would it be better to:
- throw it all into a taxable brokerage ETF at once for investing returns & compunding now, praying for no bear market; or ...
- perhaps hire an investment manager to deal with it and maybe do better than I could; or ...
- any other suggestions?
I will have a decent pension (no cola tho), and do have a smallish personal Roth that I can roll this new 457b into when finished at this employer.
Thank you for your thoughts and any help to save myself.

Revamp ROTH TDF-2050 to S&P500/SCHD/GROWTH?
My secondary/personal $100K Vanguard Roth IRA is composed of 100% VFIFX (Vanguard Target Date 2050 = 90% stocks (total US + International), 10% bonds). It recently in 2026 has performed a bit better than a standard S&P500 index — apparently due to international exposure leveraging TSMC, Micron, ASML, etc.
EDITED: [I chose 2050 to be more aggressive in stocks due to being behind the investing curve, and especially since I will have a relatively decent pension (acting as bonds). I also have an employer Roth 457b to eventually merge with this personal Roth IRA.]
With a possible retirement in 5-8 years — which is the earliest I would touch this particular bucket of money …
Inspired by "Professor G" videos, could I do better by revamping my 100% Target VFIFX-2050 Roth to the following 3 funds, which builds-in a dividends/income fund (I would reinvest the divs, until retirement of course):
35% VFAIX — Vanguard 500 Index (replicates VOO); edit: or could be VTWAX total market (us/int)
35% SCHD — Dividends/income, supposed stabilizer in volatile markets
30% VIGAX — Growth, but not as volatile or tech-heavy as QQQM
OR …. any suggestions?
Thanks for your thoughts!
Roth at 100% TDF 2050; recommend changes to earn better?
My $100K Vanguard personal Roth is composed of 100% VFIFX (Vanguard Target Date 2050), to be a bit more aggressive before possible retirement in 5-8 years — which is the earliest I would touch that particular bucket of money.
Could I do better with by exchanging some/all percentage of VFIFX shares to other Vanguard fund(s) for better compounding growth without becoming too risky?
Any funds I should consider with dividends, value, income, or ….?
Suggestions?
I do keep the yearly $8600 contributions to that Roth, but I also concurrently am aged-based catchup-Ing with my employer 457b Roth. I will also have a relatively decent pension.
No one mentions that we got Machina Billy @ Requiem for Zero?
Could history be repeating itself for a second end to the Pumpkins, as Machina brought about the first end in 2000?
Machina Billy was my peak Pumpkins, goth Gaultiers and raw voice, and I loved seeing him again! 🤟🏻
If we are in the Navy Yard on Kitty Hawk Avenue, are we allowed to pass thru the Phila Auto Terminal gate (red arrow) to ride over to Delaware Avenue and then on up towards Center City (yellow highlight path)?
