Dying and Death actions

What happens when your character dies?

I'm trying to learn more about games that have a dying or death action, something that happens in the game when a character dies.

Maybe you get one last chance to slay your foe, or maybe there's a funeral that brings the clans together, or maybe you pass off your stewardship of the land to a worthy successor.

What games do something like that?

Pencil-and-paper games ok here?

Are pencil-and-paper games ok here? I'm doing a one page pirates game that's kind of roleplaying-adjacent, but I'm not sure if it's proper for this subreddit.

Edit:

The game is Tales of the Windward Sea. It's still in development, but you can download it either from Discord or itch.io. (It's free, this is just a hobby of mine.)

All you need is a printout of the game (on one sheet of paper) and a pencil. A 6-sided die is helpful but not required.

There are dense rules written right on the game page, but I haven't written up a proper walkthrough yet. You can probably figure out how to play from just the dense instructions, but they're mainly there as a mnemonic for during play.

Razor, a pixel font for small captions

Just wanted to share my new pixel font Razor. It's free (even for commercial purposes) and it supports many different languages, including Cyrillic and Greek alphabets.

Critique my sky?

This is my first time doing a sky in pixel art and I can't tell if it's any good or not. I've been looking at it too long.

My goal is to have something that can be in the background without being distracting. I'm hoping it looks like the weather is somewhere between sunny and hazy, as the clouds are rolling in.

What does/doesn't work well? Is there other media you'd recommend I look at for inspiration?

Next font?

I've got a few fonts partway finished, which one would you like next? All of them so far are free (though you can toss me a dollar if you like).

Last time you guys voted for Cobblestone, which is available now.

Just finished a new free pixel font, Cobblestone.

It's a modern font with a bit of medieval pen styling, particularly in the uppercase letters. It has an x-height of 6 pixels and a total height of 14.

If you use it in anything, let me know, I'd love to see the results!

I'm working on adding Ethiopic support to a tiny pixel art font and I could use some help.

Is this text readable? Do the characters look...maybe not good, but at least ok? Is there anything I could change that would make it better?

(This is going to be a free pixel font, for game developers or whoever else wants to use it. Version 1 of the font is here if you want to see it.)
