Was anyone going to take over as a mod?

I remember someone saying they were tryig to adopt the subreddit (but forgot who). How is that going? If you need a second mod I'm happy to join in.

Seriously, the amount of commission pricing posts is absolutely insufferable and everything else is just people showing off their art. I barely see any posts about looking for art buddies which is what this sub is supposed to be about.

Looking for a small group of motivated art accountability buddies (EU/UK, 20+)

((I've gotten more interest than expected so I won't add any more people for now 🙏 trying to keep the group at a cozy, manageable amount))

I'm an intermediate digital artist who's always loved drawing. Unfortunately, a lot has happened in my life over the past few years, and somewhere along the way I kind of lost my spark and my direction.

I'm really motivated to get back on track, though. After doing some self reflection, I figured that one of the things that would really help keep me on track is a rigorous accountability system.

I tried joining art Discords, but I found that they tend to be either too large and overwhelming, too broad in terms of artistic interests, too relaxed about accountability/check-ins, or heavily North American (meaning hangouts, streams, etc. are scheduled around US time zones and are impossible for me to attend)

So I figured I'd try asking here:

Is anyone down to be accountability buddies?

I'm hoping to find a small handful of people who are willing to really lock in.

My general requirements are:

• Be 20+

• Be based in Europe or the UK (if you REALLY want to join but this doesn't apply to you, feel free to ask anyway. Just bear in mind that I will be keeping an EU majority and any activities, deadlines, hangouts, etc. will be organised around EU time).

• Be a new/beginner or intermediate artist. More experienced artists who are looking for further improvement or are trying to lock in for a big project are also welcome.

• Be motivated to improve

• Be active and willing to participate (ideally every day)

• Be a decent human being

I want to make it very clear that this will be hardcore. A lot of art communities operate on a very relaxed "whenever you can / whenever you feel like it" basis. Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me. I need something more structured, rigorous and a group that will actually hold me accountable.

So yes, we're going to BUG each other to draw and we're going to YELL at each other to get our work done. We're going to check in on each other's progress and ask "HEY. WHAT DID YOU DRAW TODAY?". And we'll be doing it because we all WANT to improve, and we want to help each other actually stick with it.

If you're like me and you're looking for that sort of energy, hopefully I've got you covered.

Fergmily day out

It's been a while, friends!

Ferg and Fergnephew welcomed Fergson into their little family! Or should I say, fergmily! And we thought: what better way to celebrate than a day trip! No pond picture this time, but not to worry, there was a pond at our destination! We just didn't have the chance to take a good picture there!

Looking for an art/ social media mentor

Hi everyone,

This is a bit of a personal ask, both as a person and as an artist. My art journey has been difficult. I've been an artist for over 15 years and I've never been able to figure out social media. I've always found it overwhelming and discouraging... I couldn't handle the pressure to post consistently, couldn't wrap my head around algorithms, following trends, needing to draw what's popular instead of what I enjoy etc. It's always the same cycle every time: I get motivated to take social media seriously, burn out, disappear for a while, then try again months later. Clearly it isn't sustainable.

I started taking commissions around the beginning of COVID and found some success, but once genAi became more popular, that stopped.

I'm in a difficult position right now because due to my autism, I have a very hard time doing most jobs that require me to work with people. I am currently unemployed and badly need to make an income.

So I wanted to ask whether there are any artists here who have found some success growing through social media and might be willing to mentor me a little and offer guidance on a realistic path.

I know this is a lot to ask, but I figured worst that can happen is people ignore this post or tell me to piss off because everyone else is in the same boat, haha.

Thanks for reading.

Looking for recommendations as someone who's relatively new and trying to read more

I've read a handful of books, enough to sort of become a bit picky with my romantasy books. So I'm looking for recommendations from some more experienced readers as I am aching to dig into another great story!

Some of my requirements:

• Not instant, gratuitous spice (I love spice, but with romantic buildup attached)

• A capable fmc who is comfortable with being feminine (not the "I hate skirts and that makes me badass" type)

• A mmc who isn't conventionally attractive. Or at least not a mmc that other characters can't shut up about how unbearably attractive he is.

• A story that doesn't feel like it unnecessarily drags on (the less books in a series the better)

• Bonus points for high quality worldbuilding and plot

• More bonus points if stand alone or finished series

Has Moss Bunny been brought out of retirement??

I just saw this listing on Vinted and it looks like it has newer tags?? This is in the UK. I desperately want him but not going to pay the silly reseller amounts.

For fellow UK folks- how do I get my GP to not dismiss my hair loss?

I have been shedding heavily (and I mean losing fistfuls of hair every shower) for over a year. I have lost a lot of volume, and I get extremely anxious and depressed seeing my hair thin.

I've seen my GP twice (different people about 1 year apart), and both times they took maybe 1 second to look at me and I was told that even if I had bald spots, there is nothing they can do. I was just refered for a blood test and recommended some vitamin D. That's all.

I seriously can't take this. It doesn't feel normal, I don't know why it's happening and nobody is taking the time to actually examin me. What do I do???

[Online][5e 2014][Homebrew heavy] In search for a highly proactive, engaged and immersed creative spirit for a high-effort, story focused experience

A figure steps forward from the edge of the firelight. As they speak, their voice stills the murmurs of the forest. "I am a weaver of worlds and a keeper of tales who seeks fellow architects of legend. What I offer is a pact: your dedication in exchange for a story that will become a part of you."

"I will give you a world of deep roots and high stakes, where your character's stories, their ambitions, fears, and dreams, will be a quintessential part of the history we will write."

"I will make our world tangible. With art born from my own hands, with maps that chart our discoveries, and with music that scores our epic."

"I will listen. Our story will be a collaboration between your will and the world's answer."

"I will provide a sanctuary. A space of respect, emotional maturity, and clear expectations, where trust is an important part of the foundation upon which we build."

This is the law of our land:

  • A primordial world where humanity stands at the dawn of civilisation. While there currently is no written word, coin, nor clear pantheon of gods to pray to, cultures are already diverse and rich, and magic truly exists as an awe-inspiring, yet terrifying rumour carried by the wind. Both society and the world itself are growing at a fast pace, and creativity matters as much as strength. If there is something the world is missing, perhaps your story will be the first to create it.
  • An anthology of shorter stories (10-20 sessions). The choices you make in this dawning age will ripple across centuries, shaping the world for your next generation of characters.
  • We will meet for 3 hours each week, on a day and time chosen by the group (Mon, Thurs or Sat between 4-8pm EST). Reliability and Consistency too, will be essential to our foundation.
  • We will use D&D 5th Edition (2014) as our common tongue, but we will deeply reflavour its essence to fit our world.
  • We will gather in the great-hall of Discord to make ourselves heard, and share the collective vision of Roll20. A clear, steady voice (great quality microphone and a stable connection) is as vital as a sharp blade.

The Keeper looks across the gathering, their gaze weighing the convened souls. “To step forth in the light of the fire, you too, must swear an oath…”

"You are an adult in both years and spirit (25+), seeking connection through a deep collaborative storytelling experience."

"You are a friend and ally to all. This fire is a safe haven. LGBTQ+ players and women, your perspectives are needed to build a new world!"

"Your word is your bond. You are punctual, communicative, and reliable. You respect the time and effort of your fellows."

"You are an expert storyteller in both our common language, narrative nuance and emotional depth. You can live within a character's skin for the entire space of our gathering."

"Your spirit burns as bright as the light of a thousand stars. You bring enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit to both the story and the fellowship around the fire. You will drive the story with your curiosity. You will ask questions, take risks, and explore the shadows without requiring a heavy guiding hand."

"You will find freedom within deliberate limits. You will craft a character who belongs and has stakes in this world. You will regard tonal restrictions as a challenge to embrace rather than a creative offense." The first word of your secret message is “Ash”.

"You will arrive with the story already whispering on your lips. In a tale this concise, there hardly is time to test one's footing. You will know your character, in both soul and in skill, from the moment our story begins."

The fire crackles, and the wind carries the scent of an unknown flower. The Keeper waits.

If you feel the urge to sing legends into being with your own voice...

Then the first History awaits you.

Application Form

Did you like the flavour text? Then hopefully you are at the right address. If you are looking for a sink of your creative energy and having meaningful emotional experiences through storytelling alongside other like minded individuals, I've got you covered.

I have met great players here on /lfg in the past. Now, I'm hoping to find someone quite specific to bring into a game that is a passion project of mine. And because of that, I will be taking the time needed to find the right person (so I fully expect that I might have to repost this for visibility, and that the game will take some time to kick off). I believe that great table fits can be found with enough patience and perseverance. And I hope that someone may read this post and find themselves in the kind of experience I want to create together.

Unidentified bug bite- can it be a tick/lyme?

I was volunteering in a park in London UK, clearing out overgrown vegetation. I noticed a small red dot which quickly started causing a slight burning sensation. I got the area cleaned a slapped a plaster on and hoped it would be ok. That was this Tuesday. Today (Thursday), I am starting to notice a larger red area around the bite. It also feels very itchy if I touch it. I'm not sure what it is but I'm starting to worry it could have been a tick. What should I do? Is it worth checking with my GP or am I over reacting?

Desperate for easy dinners that require little to no stove/ oven use in this weather. What cold dinners/ lunches are you eating this week?

There are only so many sandwiches and pasta salads I can have before going insane -and I already made both on the weekend. Would love some creative ideas or hearing what other people are making in this heat. I dread having to turn the oven on, lol.

[online][flexible][BST] Engaged, committed & proactive storyteller looking for a mature/thoughtful, immersive & RP heavy table

Well met, friends!

`I'm Mari, I have about 7 years of TTRPG experience and over 10 years roleplay in general. My other interests include visual art and drawing, literature and writing, history, philosophy, video games (especially RPGs), and a wide range of TV series.

I have reached a point as a player where I don't see TTRPGs as just a casual hobby, but as a special storytelling experience that connects people through shared emotions. Something that can only be reached though the labour of love, commitment and collective interest of everyone at the table. As a result, I can be particular about what games I join, because I'm aware that I would only fit in with a group of people who have a similar mindset.

I know I'm really just a small fish in a sea of amazing players hoping to find a group. I haven't been in a stable campaign in over a year, and I won't lie, my confidence has been affected by a streak of unpleasant experiences. I really want to rekindle my passion for D&D, so I'm trying to reach out to the community again, in hopes that the right table for me is still out there.`

What I can offer:

  • Flexibility and commitment: I respect everyone's time and I'm confident that I will not be late to or miss sessions. I am available most days in the GMT timezone, but I am willing to commit to playing later for the right group (my latest starting time would be 5PM EST).
  • High dedication and immersion: I am a creative player with a passion for writing. I make in-depth characters with compelling backstories who are well-established in the world they live in. In game, I'm an experienced roleplayer  with an immersive and proactive playstyle, who invests in the DM's world, NPCs and fellow players.
  • Proactiveness: The characters I make not only have reasons to be involved with the story and world, but they also have their own goals that they actively pursue. My characters are always self-motivated to initiate interactions and explore.
  • Collaboration: I have a track record of playing support/ supportive characters and I would love to be part of a party who is close-knit and can emotionally invest in each other. I am a firm believer in equal sharing of spotlight and I respect/ am supportive when it's someone's turn to take the stage.
  • Art: I love TTRPGS and I love drawing pcs/npcs or meaningful/funny scenes from sessions. I also write journals, stories, poetry and songs.
  • Some openness to various systems: I have a preference for fantasy settings and magic. I also prefer more narrative, rules-lite systems as opposed to complex or clunky ones.
  • Voice available. Video subject to comfort, for the right group. Any free VTT (I'm experienced with Foundry, Roll20 & Owlbear)

What I'm looking for:

  • Players & DM over 21 y/o, who have a mature and thoughtful attitude. I'm old enough to have outgrown my mematic /chaotic/ randomness and silliness era, and I'm looking for people who match my current vibe.
  • Kindness and Inclusivity: LGBTQ friendly! Racism/ homophobia not tolerated. No antagonism or personal favouritisms by the DM, no outcasting or bullying by the players.
  • Active communication: My neurospicy brain needs active communication and clear expectations. I'm hoping to play with open and emotionally intelligent people, who don't avoid difficult conversations that need to be had if issues arise at the table.
  • Availability and consistency: A committed & enthusiastic group who puts a high priority on the game and looks forward to playing together weekly. I am hoping for stable schedules and rare cancellations that are notified in advance where possible.
  • Group: A smaller number (3-4) of players who have a similar playstyle to mine: supportive, collaborative and invested; able to immerse themselves in the story & remain in character for the duration of the session; expert with proactive roleplay and driving the story forward.
  • A game that is taken seriously: I prefer a serious campaign tone and characters to match.
  • Roleplay heavy: An immersive, detail-rich world & a narratively focused game ran by a DM who encourages player creativity and engagement. A compelling story with intrigue, exploration, unique foes and meaningful combat, where player agency and choices matter.
  • Hands-on DM: I don't mesh well with DMs who are distant, disorganised and/or forgetful. I prefer DMs who value rich character backstories and want to include them in the narrative often. I would love a DM who wants to know what PCs are thinking and feeling, so they can make challenges feel more personal.
  • OOC engagement: I've learned over time that OOC friendships can really improve the D&D experience, as we all connect over shared epic moments. I am not one to believe in instant bff/family-like dynamics in the group, but I would like a group of people who will actively make efforts to get there, and not let the server go silent in between games.

At the moment, these are my absolute dealbreakers:

  • Streamed campaigns/ podcasts, PBP (play by post), West marches, or paid games
  • Sci-fi settings; worlds without magic; combat-heavy games; high lethality; or gritty variant/ survival focus - not themes I enjoy.
  • Campaigns ran mostly (or fully) theatre of the mind - As an artist, I get a lot out of visual props and not just having to stare at a discord call/ notes screen as I play.
  • "Sandbox" campaigns with little to no established lore or plot - I can't immerse myself in a low effort, underbaked world.
  • Groups with 6 or more total players - I highly prefer & am more comfortable in smaller groups.
  • Already established groups of close friends or couples at the table - To avoid the natural bias that comes with irl friendships or partnerships.
  • Generative AI. I have a lot against it, but this post isn't for that. Groups who support it or utilize it as part of their campaign would not be a good fit for me. I have been bashed - by a mod of this subreddit, no less - for rejecting to join their AI positive group, so please just don't message me if you don't agree.

Thank you for being with me so far! I know I'm asking for a lot, but in return I promise to be the kind of player who will deeply invest in your world, keep detailed notes, come up with creative solutions, draw cool art, write rhymes and songs, and much more! I will respect your time and hard work, and will try my very best to ensure that you have as much fun as I am!

I'm not looking to do a joint group search with other players at the moment, but if you are a DM who has similar wants and expectations, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself, your campaign /players and availability and we can take it from there!

[TRADE][UK] Retired old style small bashful unicorn NWoT, considering any offers

This little one sadly doesn't fit my themes nor interests, so I'm looking to give her away. She was originally a present and hasn't come off the shelf since I got her, thus in impeccable condition. I didn't keep the tag since I wasn't collecting and it didn't occur to me.

I would like her to go to a home where she would be more appreciated. Bonus if she would be given to a child, but not a must!

In exchange, I am willing to consider any offers. Tags and condition don't matter to me (I do love a restoration project, my only hard limit is fur discoloration). I am particularly fond of birds and turtles, and I like the colour green. Any coffee related amuseables would be amazing too (for my partner!). Small Fergus, Smudge Fox and Tumblie fox are very much wishful thinking, but I will mention them anyway since they are my DISOs 🤪

Trades performed via PayPal G&S as per sub rules. Willing to consider international shipping depending on offer and cost.

Happy to answer questions and can provide more photos.

Help!! I think I was sold a bootleg little Fergus! Can anyone confirm?

In my defense, the seller's initial pictures weren't suspicious and they had good reviews, but holding him definitely feels off compared to my genuine medium Fergus. He also has a shang code which was not previously disclosed. I don't want to accept the product and I can still report it, I just want an extra opinion before I go ahead 🙏 please and thank you!

Any ideas how to get rid of creases on this jelly?

Bought this coffee cup second hand for cheap (well, cheap considering what they usually go for). But it has these very visible creases that bother me. Does anyone have any idea how I could get rid of them?

Oh, I also took him to my favorite place XD

It's a pretty visible dent in the case, deeper than just a surface scratch. I unfortunately was careless and didn't store it very safely. It's been bothering me for a long time, especially now that I have started using it more. Maybe someone has a million dollar idea on how I could fix it? 😭
