Outside of NY/NJ, where are the real boiled bagels being made?

Just had an amazing experience when I had a bagel today at Jeff’s Bagel Run in central Florida. They had an actual boiler going in the store. Bagel was delicious. Had another boiled bagel at Pete’s Bagel in the Tampa area….boiled offsite, sadly.

What’s your favorite boiled bagel place?

Complaint Seeks Disclosure of Pentagon’s Agreement With Scouting America (Paywall)

“The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, cites the Freedom of Information Act in an effort to compel the Pentagon to publicly disclose the final, signed memorandum of understanding between the Defense Department and Scouting America reached in February. The two organizations have given contradictory accounts of their agreement.”

So, why hasn’t BSA published the agreement? This lack of sunshine and transparency is at the core of the rot of our beloved organization. It needs to end.

Wife bedazzled her Civivi

Wife took her knife (CIVIVI Baby Banter 2 in Nitro-V) to art night because she didn’t like the plain white G-10 handle. Added some gems.

She prefers her $6 hello kitty knife to this one though.

Improving FM reception on a AMNVOLT V4 ATS MINi SI4732

Decided to bring my shortwave radio to work this week to try to listen to the news. Most AM stations and all SW were not receivable, even with an antenna extension. Switched to FM, where I realized my AN-80 was useless and the reception was based on my headphone wire!

Any ideas on improving FM reception on the headphone wire? Does it need to be longer? Something else? What was interesting was that the stations above 90 MHz came in, but not below that.

Harvested my second patio tomato this week

Been living in Florida for a while, and I never thought about getting a patio garden vegetable plants. Used to garden all the time before moving here, but limited myself to an Aerogarden because I didn’t want to deal with learning about a new gardening zone. Bought the plant for $5. Took 56 days to get fruit. Taste was pretty decent - not complicated like an heirloom - just a good straightforward tomato flavor. Hopefully I’ll get at least another 8 tomatoes off the plant before the July heat kills it.

Critiques please! Friday night $17 Prime NY Strip

Reverse sear for 40 minutes at 240 F until internal was 104 F. Seared on a portable induction burner on a non-stick stainless steel pan with garlic and butter. Final temp around 123 F.

No potatoes tonight because my blood sugar has been high, but lots of veggies with garlic and butter.

Everything was f’n delicious and I think this may be my favorite home steak yet.

What are your thoughts, fellow Redditors??
