Perfect snack?

GLP1 patient and edible enoyer here. Those two things fight each other.

Tonight, since I haven't had complex carbs and very little fat for days, I am all about Snyder's Snaps dipped in a plain (new) vat of creme fraische. Sprite to cleanse the palette.

Really an all time combo. The mildest of the snacks in the chip aisle, with a perfectly plain, tart dairy product. Tonally matched.

Not sure how much creme fraische a person should eat in one sitting. I am far from running out, but pre-GLP-1 the bag would already be gone. My high brain (off GLP-1) cannot fight the munchies. My high brain on GLP-1 can justify this shit with "we haven't had carbs of any kind today, go ahead, it will help us sleep)

RS225P-4A not modeling well for a noob

I'm trying to pair an RS225P-4A, an 8" 4 ohm woofer, with the RST28F-4 fabric dome 4 ohm tweeter.
All just in the thinking phase now. I haven't purchased the drivers yet.

I am getting a hump at 1khz, but I can model around that a bit. And a nasty spike at 2400khz that I can't seem to tame unless I model the woofer starting to roll off around 250hz, which is way too low.

Am I just trying to make a sub do a mid-bass job? PE is claiming that this driver is usable up to 5.5khz, but the spike (from VituixCAD modeling dB and phase, it's not there in dB alone) isn't something I can puzzle out. I've tried modeling my box in the diffraction tool, but that didn't seem to matter up this high. And I've tried the optimizer but it just makes things worse and gives me unrealistic values for the components.

Anyone used this driver in the real world that can tell me what I'm missing in my model? Still very new to VituixCAD so operator error is possible/likely.

Best source for all-thread / threaded rod for the ubiquitous stereo shelf?

Thinking I need one of the generic all-thread stereo shelves, but my local hardware stores seem to only have ugly galvanized or kinda not great looking zinc threaded rod. Amazon seems to have some, but costly and slow to ship unless you want to make it up out of 8" chunks.

Where are people finding nice black oxidized (preferred) or chromed all-thread for the shelf builds?

(For the uninitiated: Home-built shelves that are basically just planks connected with allthread and flanges. Like this, but not $450.)

What are your most challenging test tracks?

What are the tracks that you, personally, find to be the most difficult to tune for? The ones you know well, love a lot, and seem to find the weak spots in your designs?

I'm working on a new build and find the harpsichord in Tori Amos' Blood Roses to be very telling if you're getting good low-mids. It should attack you. Also that guitar tap thump that is driving Halsey's You Should Be Sad seems to hit in the same region. Also the guitar in Ani DiFranco's Shy (Living in Clip version). That guitar needs to explode off the stage. I can make a REW graph look ok, but I need to get better at real time monitoring to dig up some of the dips I can hear but not see on a 1w/1m or in-room graph.

Finally, once I get through all the girl power stuff and some bass tracks (Mac Miller's Good News was a favorite for a while, getting tired of it). Then I go for the Hannes Kastner recording of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in d-minor (listed in YouTube as "best version ever" with the note "organist unknown"). If I'm not exhausted (in the best way) by that track then the build isn't done yet.

How 'bout you? What tracks leave you chasing your tail to get them just right?

Changed the voice and feeling a kind of way...

Recently enabled Gemini to take over from Google Assistant under Android Auto. I'd never used voice chat with Gemini but I do remember randomly picking a female voice when I was playing with settings. Weeks later I hear it for the first time today and Gemini sounds like a smart ass Elizabeth Banks who's a little bit done with my shit. And my goodness I can understand the dating AI thing a little bit after listening to this. I should probably finally watch "Her" with Joaquin Phoenix now.

(Sorry if this is against the rules or vibe, first post and all that)

Werner Park - shade near home plate for evening games?

Going to a 6pm Storm Chasers game next week. Sitting down low in 114 (love MiLB prices vs. MLB)

I've been to the park several times but can't recall if the first 3 or 4 rows of 114 are in the shade at that time. Getting conflicting claims online, wondering if someone is a regular and can recall if the front rows are in the sun in the early evening mid-summer or not? I think the "club level" shades it pretty early but we are pale people and trying to figure out if we need to bring Bedouin hats and lather on spf.

What is the net of using an 8ohm l-pad in front of a 4ohm driver?

AI says I'm insane for even thinking about it. But I've got two nice l-pads (8ohm) and two tweets that need tuned a bit (4ohm). Does it net into a mystery resistance between 8 and 4, or do I get something truly off the charts as AI wants me to believe?

Any movies set in downtown Mexico City?

I feel like there were some '90's or early 00's movies that were big independents set in big building parts of Mexico City, but I never caught them. What are the best films set in a very urban, downtown part of Mexico City? Saw an insta from Ochoa (the Mexico GK) set in Manhattan but I would have believed Mexico City, is what caught my eye and made me ask.

Excessively long songs that still work?

I feel like this is going to get a lot of Queen and Elton and other glam era replies. For me the kings of it are GnR with Estranged and of course November Rain. Both worth every second.

Inspired by this post. Looking for songs of at least 6 minutes or longer that still hit and don't get boring.

At one time I had a nice Pioneer 5.1 setup with the Andrew Jones SP series, sniffed at/slept on but seriously good sound IMO. And I've always liked Pioneer amps. That came out just before ARC, or at least before heavy ARC adoption, so getting everything sync'd was fiddly. Due to WAF and also fairly buried dialog with that setup it eventually became my office setup and the living room has a Bose 700 soundbar now (again sniffed at, but if you just want a decent sounding TV it's very good at that job).

Today, with ARC actually being decent at keeping things linked, and good 2.1 amps being offered by everyone (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Yamaha) I've got an itch to get some large mains and a sub and get back into "serious" gear.

So I'm looking for experiences of anyone who has gone from a 5.1 system or a good soundbar to a 2.1. I am particularly interested in opinions on downmixing performance for dialog and movies. Do you miss the impact of the extra channels? Does the downmixing have any noticable/weird side effects? And, most importantly, how is the dialog when you take out that center or soundbar? Should we just give up on watching Nolan movies if we go this way?
