I love Black Clover, its fantastic and I really enjoyed reading it for the first time (minus the spoilers), but there are obviously some things I didn’t really like or things that I think I could’ve been done better, and there are many aspects of the community that are frustrating
my biggest gripe with the series is probably yuno
he’s like if you sucked all the life from sasuke and made him naruto
and im not a particularly big fan of the powerscaling scene here, its not as bad as some fanbases though
I think its fair to say that this is lancelot’s story now, percival doesn’t feel like much of a protagonist at all and the other knights have been sidelined to make way for
more lancelot
I don’t hate the story, im just really worried with the direction its going in now

It made much more sense with meliodas atleast, but Lancelot’s forsaken the lives of his allies and friends and is risking many many more for a freshly teenage girl he barely knew

The Deltarune fandom frequently assigns the FRIENDs with purely feline traits, but I believe the true nature of the FRIENDs hinges on a double meaning - That they are not just cats, they are a cat-fish hybrid, that catfishes.
A big part of this theory relies on fandom assumptions about the depths, the proposed habitat for the FRIENDs. The community consensus regarding the depths is that they are related to the water and the ocean. The image of the depths, image_depths, is a stock photo of the ocean. The depths is a vast ocean of darkness that exists beneath the light world, the ‘eternal night’ that grew beneath the world of light in the prophecy.
Because the depths is a big black ocean of darkness, I think the Depthners, the inhabitants of the depths that are made of pure darkness, may have traits of marine animals like fishes, instead of purely resembling a land animal like a cat.
The cat-fish hybrid design of friend is in reference to the concept of catfishing (intentionally deceiving someone using a fake/stolen identity). The idea of catfishing relates to a cat yokai in japanese mythos, the Bakeneko, which has the ability to change its shape in order to decieve people and households.
The new dialogue update in Pink’s shop mentions someone who once owned a bunch of cats, warning kris that they chase protein. These cats are not very intelligent, but they do not stop chasing their target until they get bored, or find them. And when they do, they bite, hard. This is most definitely a reference to the FRIENDs, and by extension, how they hunt.
This dialogue reveals to us that there exists a person in charge of the FRIENDs, who I believe is the key to how the FRIENDs are able to change their shape. Similar to a dark fountain, where its nature and APPEARANCE reflect the will of its the creator, the FRIENDs, beings made of pure darkness, have their shape and appearance changed when their creator projects their will onto them.
This is done to ‘catfish’ their targets, assuming a familiar identity to chase and deceive whoever may hold the protein.
This could also mean the cat like, feline appearance of the FRIENDs we are familiar with is just an illusion, so the friends can find and deceive one of their targets. Perhaps all the FREINDs are is just formless darkness, with a big smile and pink and gold eyes. Maybe they only appeared to Noelle as a cat in catpetters to deceive her. Maybe shes one of their targets?
