To be brief: the characters have to survive for 10 days within the inner accretion disk of TON 618, an extremely hostile environment filled with intensely heated plasma, enormous orbital velocities, powerful magnetic fields, and extreme electromagnetic radiation, including intense X-rays and ultraviolet radiation. The temperatures can reach millions of degrees, while the surrounding plasma and high-energy particles would continuously bombard anything present. The immense gravitational field and relativistic velocities near the black hole make the environment even more extreme.
They cannot escape, receive help from outside, or have access to food or water during the 10 days. The goal is simply to remain alive within the inner accretion disk for the entire duration.
