Sorentos bumpers are pretty stout

Just a positive note from my experience with my 22 SX-P Xline. Was driving ~25mph down my street when a trash can rolled right into my car. Not the flimsy ones too, the ones with the metal bar in the middle for the mechanical arm pickup. Hit the brakes but crushed most of it, came to a stop, freaking out thinking my bumper was destroyed. Literally nothing but a minor scratch on the bottom trim. No dents, broken fogs, or anything of the sort. Pleasantly surprised how stout the body is, even the paint looks absolutely fine after a quick wipe.

Ftype test drives sadness

The “perfect” Ftype showed up near me, a 2018 400 sport vert RWD. I say perfect since I think 400hp and sound is enough vs R, for me at least. Anyway, it drove terrible and it was all-around rough with 54k miles. Pictures looked amazing but it was definitely not properly cared for. This is my second test drive, the other was a 2017 V6S with around 42k on the dash but otherwise really clean. Both test drives were disappointing, not on power but how beat up the cars felt. So my question is, are Ftypes prone to rapid deterioration or I’ve just gotten bad cars? I know not to expect a new 911 feel, but both felt clunky, top felt like it could fail at any time, loud (not in a good way) and akin to a crappy used car. I ask since I’ve always loved the Ftype and plan to keep it in perpetuity if I was to buy one.

How to deal with old wallpaper

Hi Folks,

So I’m trying to repaint the kitchen in my close to 90 yo house. The house interior was repainted probably around 15 years ago (before my ownership) by a horrible contractor who just spackled and painted on top of the wallpaper. I got a steamer and wallpaper removal solution but it’s not peeling great. I guess cause the wallpaper is ancient, some parts are fused with the drywall. There are also some uneven spots, god knows from what. Looking for advice on both these issues, was thinking wet sanding? But haven’t found the answer on google.

Where to move funds 250k+

Hi Sub,

I recently got a mailer for Wells Fargo premier w/ $1500 bonus to move funds for the amount listed in the subject line. The apy is abysmal but they offer better products within these accounts, similar to Chase private. Chase offers $2k but I believe is 300k+. I also haven’t looked at either bank’s investment offerings within these accounts. I like to keep each account under 250k for fdic insurance. Therefore I’m asking for suggestions on where to move such funds, for the max bonus/return, including product yields within these two. TIA

2018 MDX 9 speed ATF, services at 105k miles.

Hi Sub,

Looking to do a trans fluid service on my 2018 mdx sh-awd 9 speed. I read that the recommended parts are drain and top off bolts, and the fluid itself. From my research, Acura 3.1 atf fluid is what is called for. However, I’ve also read that valvoline max life atf is compatible and others report good results. Is this still the general consensus? I’m at 105k miles so I need to do the timing belt service as well along with spark plugs and coils. Transfer case is recommended around this time iirc. My front shocks are also shot so a of routine-ish maintenance. Therefore any savings are welcomed now since even with doing these all myself, I’m looking at close to a grand in parts.

Which card would you drop, if any

I currently have a few cards that I rotate in use depending on awards and other criteria most others here follow. Two in particular are more premium and cost more. The venture x and Amex plat. I’m approved for the Saphire reserve with a 150k sub. Some of the benefits between the three are redundant and cost also matters. So if you were me, which of the two would you drop in favor of the Chase, and why. To give you personal context, we are a family of 5 and use most of the benefits provided by both cards, that are related to travel or subscriptions. TIA

Advice for sons first car purchase

My son 23, has been driving our old pickup until it broke down with engine issues. This was his fault 100%, Ive done all major maintenance, he was responsible for oil changes and didnt do one in over a year/20k miles. That said, id like him to finance a car that he can service at the dealership. We would be looking to put down about 5k, and we would want his loan to be no more than 10k/4 years. So total budget is about 15k, probably less cause of taxes and fees. He commutes about 20 mins each way everyday and goes to his gf on the weekends, about 40 mins away. All ideas welcomed although preferences are medium to larger vehicles, reliable, and within budget. TIA

Had to do a sibo breath test, which surprisingly was negative for. Followed the instructions for lactulose and I’m having the worst bubble guts. My stomach sounds like an cammed V8 engine. Google says side effects are normal but I’ve never heard the sounds coming out of me. Any concerns, and how long should it last?
